Well known customizer and Seibertron.com member enclinedesigns was lucky enough to get his hands on Maketoy's Giant, Fallen, and Battle Tanker while attending Cherry Bomb Toys' 8th Ultimate Hobby and Toy Fair. He's posted preview videos of all three projects. Check them out below.
Wow I am floored how awesome the 3rd party fallen looks. I love how big it is,it looks to be over 8 inches tall in robot mode. i love bigger sized TF toys.
i'm still not a fan of battle tanker the trailer/armor for RTS G-2 Prime. because RTS G-2 Prime is a extremly tiny deluxe that stands about 5 & 1/4 inches tall. the trailer/armor boots don't look like they add that much heigh,my guess barely half a inch. no thanks the robot mode with the trailer/armor attached is still not a voyager height in robot mode.
I love the Giant toy. it looks the most G-1 accurate thus far. Personally the hercules one looks awful & weirdly designed & not enough homage designed for the individual bots. Giant is such a superior toy. Hopefully I can afford to by it in 2012. I love how each giant constructicon is deluxe scale, their in cartoon size scale.
hercules i don't like because the individual constructions are way too big & voyager sized. the combined mode is probably out of scale & supreme sized.
Gundam...nothing but greatness all around! But if feel IMHO that QC is the key so I shall continue to be cautious and wait until someone reviews in hand for each. Things are looking great for Giant compared to Hurcules...'nuff said!
I was so ready to back Hercules 100%. Then I saw that video. After seeing MakeToy's Scavenger next to United G2 Prime it's clear that there's not going to be much difference in size, which makes TFClub's prices seem rediculously higher than before. I'll admit that I think Giant looks more of a hulking beast than Hercules, but haven't decided on which companies' individual figures I prefer. Things just got real hard all of a sudden.
Curses for not giving any more details about "he is not Fallen.... over." Looking at it in the video I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't actually transform. (I'd prefer him to but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if he didn't.)
Definatally do the VISOR !!! I want both Devastators.
Gotta get that G2 Prime as well.
The Fallen looks cool but if the price is really $8000, they can take the figure and turn it sideways, shine it up real good and...well you know the rest.
I'm really liking "Not Fallen Over". That seems really excellent!
I'm still iffy on the Laser Prime trailer. It's less about their implementation, which is great, and more about the base figure. It will probably work for a Scourge repaint, so I may get it just for that, as my Black and Teal army could always use another member.
I like Giant, but I still like Hercules more. I think the individual bots in Herc are more representative of the G1 counterparts and I prefer the larger scale. They are supposed to be construction machines, which are supposed to be bigger than cars. These would fit in perfectly with the existing Bruticus and Superion though!
The NOT-FALLEN over is a rather sick figure... alt modes are awesome!
The ideas and thoughts mentioned by the Maketoy rep and us at the after party were flip down visor on Devs head! Which may be looking like the way to go!
G2 Laser Prime upgrade sold me on the figure... much more impressive in person.

Agreed, the drop down visor would be a nice touch and is the way to go!

I couldn't help but notice you said "alt modes", multichanger?
I must have Giant in my life. I need it. I can't live without it.
G2 Prime, I'm still not 100% digging it. The arm add-ons actually make him look too stumpy, they're just too thick. And I'm not a fan of the wired sword. I may pass until Hasbro puts out a Scourge repaint and Maketoys does the same.
Fallen looks amazing too. I'm afraid to find out how much it will cost.
Awesome. I want giant with and without the visor. My main concern is finding a place to order maketoy products from. I went to the preorder site and wow beside high yen value, they only provide EMS shipping.
