KO Wildrider has arrived

I didn't see any posts about it so I figured I'd go ahead and post this.

The long awaited KO of the ever-elusive (and absurdly over-priced in the aftermarket) Henkei Wildrider is finally here :D!

I just ordered mine ($35 US + shipping) from KO Toys.

All I can say is it's about time. I've been drooling over this repaint since I first became aware of it (at which point the going price was a minimum of $450 on ebay).

Thankfully he is only available loose (at least for now), so as long as no one creates KO packaging for him, we won't have to worry too much about getting ripped off if looking for a legit version MISB (here's hoping it stays that way, though I doubt it).

I ordered a loose one off ebay myself last week, for $31. Awaiting shipping. The tracking number says it's been mailed.

Please share with us the over all QC when you do receive it. I'm sure others like me would really like to know your view on that...patiently waiting, thanks! :VEHI:

its the same as ko shattered glass rodimus basically. all stiff joints but the arm ball joints keep popping off everytime you transform him or move the arms. aside from that its fine

I doubt it, at least not with this mold, but some sort of modern/Generations-style update to all of the Stunticons (along with many other G1 combiners) that actually combine (and NOT PCC style :P) would be nice. The closest I've seen to that so far is Hercules, which is woefully not an official Has/Tak product, but perhaps it will inspire Has/Tak to start working on updating their combiners in a similar way in order to get all that money that I guarantee would be there if they did.

Unfortunately my three-year-old got ahold of my genuine Wildrider and broke a section off of the chrome spoiler. I'll be getting the KO just so I can replace this part.

Well, by a 3rd party would be a more precice version of my hope. I don't think there's much chance of it happening officially either.

Can someone take a close-up of this KO Wildrider's face and post it here? Thanks in advance!

Yes, I did. I never planned to sell it anyway, but yeah, I was pretty disappointed nontheless.

I got my CHMS Wildrider in the mail today. Very nice reproduction quality. You tell can it has small flaws compared to a true Takara product. Still, no way I'm buying the Takara one at the prices it goes for on ebay.

I won't review the overall toy, but I'll go over anything I found different or inferior about it. I have the Timelines Side Burn toy for comparison, since I don't own the original Wildrider.

Here are the small flaws:
-There were two loose joints, the neck and the left hand sensor (the saw), which flop about a little compared to the Has/Tak toy.
-Most other joints were VERY tight, some so bad I had to remove the shoulders ball joints and push them back it when transforming. Presumably it will loosen with age.
-The paint edges around the Decepticon symbol on the chest were less distinct, more fuzzy than they should be. Black and silver paint on the engine missed the spot in some places.
-The toy itself smelled of still-drying paint.
-The gun was a little loose mounting in car mode, but not enough that it falls out. Meanwhile it's too tight in the right hand in robot mode.
-On the backs of the shins you can see obvious spots where the plastic was cut off a sprue. No mark like that on Side Burn.
-A small piece of plastic fell out of the inside of the upper left arm. I pushed it back in and it seems to be holding just fine. It may have never been pushed in fully when it was assembled.

Will the KO combine well with Protector/Shadow Scyther?

I see no reason why it wouldn't.

understand but there's a slight chance where the plastic is thinner/thicker that may render it to combine properly with Protector

Like the KO OP mold, aside from the face, mold wise, it looks exactly the same with the original however ended up loose when armed with the Commander.
Just covering some ground since that's the reason for me to pick up this KO ;)

The Protector/Shadow Scythe armour fits the KO SG Rodimus quite well so I'm guesing it does too for this.

Here's a pic of the Shadow Scythe on the KO SG Rodimus

Well I just got Wildrider and Shattered Glass Rodimus and IMHO I got what I paid for. They are both worth what I paid for despite the flaws (loose leg, loose circular saw, not all parts locking perfectly in alt mode) they both bare being what they are. Though I don't have either genuine Takara TF yet (but I will) they're both nice representations of the two. :VEHI:

I also got both of these figures and thankfully only paid $20/ea instead of the original asking price of $30 - 40. I missed out on these originally, thinking I did not want to pay $80 for a black Rodimus. There's no way I can justify the current e-Bay prices on these guys. I'm very pleased with what I have, even with a few mold issues (mainly that the arms easily pop out of both shoulders very easily - you can tell that the ball joint of the arm isn't completely circular in some cases). I really don't care about the circular saw being loose as I hardly ever display that.

KO or not, I remember that I also paid for the official Battle in Space Rodimus and that suffered mold issues as well (the canopy was extremely loose).

Kinda wish FP would do a 2nd run of the Scyther sets...

Yeah, I remember hearing about that awhile back and then I thought that Protector/Clear Protector were just too widely available to KO. If I remember correctly, the US shipment of SS sold out within a day, and I had the chance to order from Robot Kingdom but passed. Within the next day, those were also gone. Guess that's what the mean by "limited release"... = )

Except then the e-Bay auctions started popping up for $300, and the sellers wouldn't have these in hand for a few months.

That was a sour moment, but I've carried on. And now 12 months later I own the figures SS was meant for.

As for CHMS and their future offerings, I don't think the loss of KOToys put a major dent in their plans. I hope we can see more of their Ultra Magnus figure we got a glimpse of a few months ago!

I'm relatively new to the world of quality KO's. My only experience is with KOToys, and even that site was pretty rough to navigate. I can't, for the life of me, find the web address for CHMS. Anyone have it? I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that someone does a KO Shadow Scythe armor. I managed to order the KO SG Roddy from KOToys a few weeks back and just got my confirmation that it's shipping. The sole reason I got him was in hopes of a KO Shadow Scythe armor.

X Transbots has a Facebook page which posts preview pictures and announcements. CHMS has a Chinese weibo page.

are you really that lazy arsed you cant fix the popping arm issue with a tiny amount of nail varnish?

If your gona complain about the ko then please by all means go pay the $300+ asking price for the real one
