X-Transbots Toys has posted on their facebook page a picture of possibly their newest product X-7 Ironhide and Ratchet. X-7 is a very Generation 1 cartoon accurate version of Ironhide and Ratchet. No other information or release date is know at this time.

They look nice, but what's up with Ironhide crying like that?

I don't have money for Transformers that don't Transform >:oP

Ironhide and Ratchet's character models have those lines going down their eyes, as did most other Transformers, it doesn't look as good here though, I think it's cause their eyes are smaller.

Also their character models, had no wheels or anything resembling car parts on them, so making transformable figures that are like, that accurate to their character models is probably next to impossible. :P

This looks a lot like that headmaster prototype Jizzi was working on.

Also, I have no interest in these since they have next to no detail and articulation.

If I'm going to pay third party prices for something that doesn't transform, I would hope to see a ton more articulation and detail.

I've never understood the obsession with "cartoon-accurate" figures, ESPECIALLY from the G1 line. The toys came first. The cartoons were only created as 22-minute advertisements for the toys. If there was a difference between the G1 toy and the cartoon representation, it was the cartoon that was inaccurate, not the toy. In this case (Ratchet and Ironhide) I suspect the animators chose to depict Ratchet and Ironhide like that because it was easier than trying to make them look like the toys.

Regardless, these toys look like crap, unless they're just little eraser toys or free toys that come with gum.

I love to see cartoon accurate versions of the characters. The stories, voices, and actions of the characters is what made them memorable and come to life. While the old brick G1 toys are wonderful and nostalgic, I know a LOT of fans are really clamoring for cartoon accurate.

These look really good so far except for the black lines on the faces. They're too heavy and distracting. Maybe by making them lighter, more subtle gray? Hmmmm. The heads might be a little squatty, too. But, a pretty good stab.

Yeah, thinking about it more... I think ALLL the 3rd party companies need to get it through their heads that the head sculpt is EVERYTHING. If they don't get it right, then they might as well not put out the figure.

It's so crazy that we have all the 4th party companies supplying new heads for all the botched 3rd party jobs. Magnus, Rodimus, Cliffjumper, etc.

I'd say post early as you're designing it and get some feedback. Then go back to tweak based on fan input, if possible.

I'm with B.

I don't see much point in non-transforming transformers.

I can at least understand the appeal if they are super articulated, very source accurate versions. This appears to be a 5 POA plastic statue.

This is true, but many fans were introduced to the cartoon product first and the toy second.

I don't think people are saying these are "more correct" than the originals, just that they are 'toon accurate and they want that version (maybe instead of the original or along with the original).

Yeah, and I think of ANY figure in history... Ironhide (and Ratchet) being without a head... and being left out of the main line for a good 20 years until Classics rolled out... he's due for some love.

I hope they post some alt-mode pics soon... and that they address the problematic face line/proportions. Head aside, this is truly a good likeness.

I'm pretty sure they don't transform. Unless their alt mode is "robot lying down".

ROTFL. Could be like the original... lying down and gently placing an entire van on their back.

They probably intended to show what they were aiming at for their future realeases, becase the pictures shown are from two old, but very well done papercrafts (paper models) of these two characters. These are the links to those models:

Ironhide
http://digilander.libero.it/papermodels/images/papermodels/ironhide/ironhide.htm

Ratchet
http://digilander.libero.it/papermodels/images/papermodels/ratchet/ratchet.htm

The same guy also did awsome models of Soundwave, Frenzy (or Rumble depending on your point of view XD) and Ravage.

Ohh! They're paper. That explains the lines on the face, etc. I take it all back... We'll see what they look like as they progress. :-D

I didn't know that Actionmasters were back in style. lol

I agree with Dead Metal - they do look like the protytpes that Jizai was working on. But those at least transformed.

If you read the comments below the FB post you'll see someone has translated the Chinese as:

X-7 G1 Ironhide, completely G1 style, with great posing ability, and can transform

Seems rather stupid to post a picture of a non transforming paper model and claim this, but it suggests they're basing the robot mode on this and adding the transformation afterwards.

If they keep ripping off Jizaitoys (or maybe the guys at Jizai have a deal with 'em) the final may look like this:

Who knows, maybe they'll also do their Cyclonus, Hot Rod, and Octane concepts.

Well, I guess this is the answer to everyone's recent concerns in regards to X-Transbot's not-Ironhide and not-Ratchet:

Source? X-Transbot's Facebook page (obviously :KREMZEEK:)

Sounds like they are using Jizai's designs and it sounds like they don't have a deal with them to do it.
