KOToys is shutting down

Looks like someone came down on KOToys
https://www.kotoys.com/forum/index.php/ ... 161.0.htmlDon't really know what to say here. While I didn't support KOs aside from the dino cassettes, I did use them to get different repaints of official molds that never would have existed otherwise.
Also I'm most disappointed that I won't be getting all 4 of the dino cassettes

And the opening salvo has been fired. Awesome!
Sorry, not a KO supporter. Deal with it.

Basically, if you buy anything, and it's broken. That's it. You're out the money.
Also, good riddance.

Meh, I didn't really ever plan on buying from them. Some of the stuff they offer is cool I just can't bring myself to buy from someone who has been so crazy. Ace's offers most of what these guys do and they're tops.

I think Ace's received their stock from KOToys. I might be incorrect on that, but if I am right, that means most of their stock will dwindle too.
I have no problem seeing KOToys go out of business, because he's a mad man, but I'd like to see another company with competent leadership take it's place.
I have a feeling that the CHMS Punch/Counterpunch (in Botcon packaging, no less) was what did this.

The talks I had with some of the mods there including Crazy mike would indicate that as being true. While I will say I did support "SOME" of what Kotoys did alot of their recent doings made me weary of ordering from them. I hate to say but RIP kotoys.
acestoystore is more awesome anyways

The part about CHMS P/CP doesn't surprise me at all. If TFCC KOs were allowed to continue, it could have easily eroded Funpub's brand equity.

i dont understand why some of you guys are being royal dicks about kotoys - ok mike was far from perfect but kotoys gave us stuff we would have NEVER gotten OR hasbro would have given it to us IF we paid threw the arse for it
Kotoys gave us fantastic items such as the clear transparent classics coneheads - botcon SG rodimus (that we can all AFFORD) - Gentei Wildrider (Again that we can ALL afford) - SG optimus prime (again all afford) and dozens and dozens of other figures that we could all afford cheaper than having to pay those bastards Hasbro 80+ for a figure that would be £10 at normal retail
this is a very very sad day and its real sad that alot of you keyboard warriors sit there in your chairs acting all high and mighty when mikes done nothing but OFFER you guys a choice. Hasbro didnt offer us these choices yet HE did, even if you didnt like him you still HAD the CHOICE of buying the item you wanted off him OR via ebay as ive seen alot of kotoys stuff on ebay.
The fact hasbro screws mike over on kos when hasbro makes millions everyday but then gives us bullshit like CONSTANT movie Bumblebees is just sickening and insulting
im sorry but this is just a very very sad day. I was looking forward to an actual classics Galvatron that wasnt the piece of crap hasbro gave us...seems like thats going to be cancelled now tho.
I feel sad about this...im going to make a purchase at kotoys...one last time....

I think the OCD Owners/members of the TFCC/Fun pub was the driving force behind KOTOYS.COM closing down. funpub/tfcc & it's members pobably kept emailing kotoys.com bogus law suits were threathing to sue. because the botcon attenddees who make profits off the convention & club toys didn't want other fans to get these toys for cheap decent kotoys.com prices.
SO if kotoys.com is closing down. does this mean the CHMS G-1 ULTRA MAGNUS new mold combiner won't get made & realesed to fans in 2012?
how about that 3rd party hexatron? kotoys.com & CHMS were they making & releasing hexatron? which 3rd party company is releasing hexatron?

I do feel bad about it. While I'm not a huge fan of most of the KOs made, I did like most of the Seekers they made. Got a few more now that everything's on sale.
I think there's still hope for the X-Transbots stuff. I don't think KO Toys IS CHMS; it just seems like they have some contacts there. I'm much less optimistic about the last two Dinocassettes, though.
I suppose trying to KO Punch/Counterpunch was the last straw for Funpub. Hate to say it, but I can't blame them for protecting their designs and the value of their product. Still, I bought from KO Toys a few times before, so I'll miss 'em.

hexitron - AKA sixshot is someone else and thats ok to release apparently
Ko toys was making
Jiziat wheelie - now cancelled
CHMS g1 style magnus - probably cancelled
CHMS classics galvatron - probably cancelled
Classics Toxitron - confirmed cancelled
animated toxitron - i think thats cancelled to
also ive noticed i cant order stuff like
Ko botcon blue mirage
ko classics deep cover
ive noticed alot of the good stuff is gone
if it IS the membership fans who have closed this website down then this just shows how sad this community has fallen if we close a store down for selling toys. ffs get over yourself some of you, these are TOYS! dont we all have more important things to be worrying about other than if i can re-sell a black classics rodimus toy for $80? dont you have more important things to worry about like bills/wife/job/getting a life?
i feel sick to my stomach if this is what a FANDOM dones to someone who offers things to it. whats next? we going to go after renderform/madienJapan/Fansproject/Maketoy ect ect. It wont stop here..... this is a very very sad day and alot of these so called people who got kotoys closed down wont even realise what they have started

Yeah. Bogus. It's really bogus when Hasbro's lawyers send you a letter threatening to sue you if you don't take movie-related prototypes down from your website. Tidalwavex wrote:

Any background check on Hexatron would reveal who would be making Hexatron. Your lack of background knowledge on the subject yet your over eagerness to flaunt your opinion is astounding. Mastermind Creations is making Hexatron.

I really don't feel bad about them closing down, besides the fact that the owner is completely off his rocker. I'm not totally against KO's per se, but it's just getting too hard to tell the difference between them and the real thing. I don't want them in my collection and the fact that there is not much to distinguish them doesn't help. I will also say that I very much like third party original designs and do buy them. While still not official they are not a direct copy of an already existing mold, and that is where MY line is drawn.
And here's where I'm going to say a very unpopular sentiment. If you can't afford a figure that you want, tough ****! There are plenty of figures that I want for my collection but can't afford, too bad for me. I am in no way entitled to any of them and neither are you. Suck it up.

Swindle01 wrote: whats next? we going to go after renderform/madienJapan/Fansproject/Maketoy ect ect. It wont stop here....
Except it's not even going to get even close to there. KOToys, while the intent may be genuine, has been putting out products that is meant to imitate it's original. I have nothing wrong with it, but when people, and not saying everyone but there are people who will do it, start selling the knockoffs as the original, then **** will hit the fan.
Renderform and Maiden are both garage kit makers. They rely only on original Transformers for their products to work. Without them, they're nothing. Their products essentially make it so that Hasbro's products are more sought after. Nobody wanted Darkwing until Renderform put his kit out.
MakeToy and FansProject are in the same case as well. They've been relying on Hasbro's Transformers in order to make profit, and in essence, keep Hasbro's products in demand. Rodimus went from shelfwarmer to secondary market powerhouse. People threw out Classics Naked Magnus for the Skywarp, and with FP, people now threw out Skywarp for UM. Same thing with ROTF Bruticus. Nobody wanted that POS, and it would probably be shelfwarming now if it weren't for FP. You don't think HasTak didn't try to cash in on this by releasing the Rodimus/Cyclonus and Rodimus/Cyclonus/Galvatron packs? Without Protector, there's no way in hell they would have released these packs.
All of these parties rely on the original product in order to thrive. Even when that's not the case for their original molds like Defender and Knight Morpher, it's the original product and their original sculpt. Geekee1 wrote:And here's where I'm going to say a very unpopular sentiment. If you can't afford a figure that you want, tough ****! C'est la vie.

i think some of you are missing the point - these are TOYS - a TOY shouldnt have to cost 200-300 especially considering alot of the things kotoys gave us were direct repaints of things. Im sorry but i shouldnt have to pay 200+ for just a black classics rodimus with a freddie mercury goatie
the point is (which i think your missing) kotoys gave you a CHOICE - if you dont like kotoys then thats fine and if you dont like kos thats fine to. however they gave us some fantastic items and also im sure anyone who purchased this will agree - the DIY kits of rodimus ect were great ideas and something hasbro basically yet again screwed fans over with, G2 sideswipe...oh thats nice hasbro....something kotoys beat you to the punch at months ago...oh wait you want me to make the sideswipe but then its suddenly worth $300 on ebay? ....sorry but considering these are toys thats just epic fail
i know some people will be dicks about this and yeah i know tom was abit crazy at times but thats why he let kate deal with customers for the past 7-9months. he just gets the items and lets kate deal with the people because he can flip out at times.
im abit disapointed as i just made my final order but wasnt able to get everything i wanted...my final order constisted of
Shattered glass optimus prime
Henkei wildrider
clear transparent rodimus DIY kit
clear colored classics optimus prime
DIA colored optimus prime
i wanted so much more...
i wanted clear blue botcon mirage and deep cover but they appear to not be available

KO Toys didn't give me a choice of buying a $200 exclusive at a cheaper price.
Because it's not real. I only want the real genuine article in my collection. You buy these things ... good on ya, but you don't have the genuine article either. To say otherwise is a lie.

and your missing the point also, not everyone cares if its a GENUINE artical or not. To me if it looks like SG rodimus, feels like it, is of decent quality - im happy. not to fussed if its the real thing or not because ive more to worry in my life than 'is that figure on my shelf real or not?' ive got more things i need to spend my money on like bills/food/my animals ect ect, its just i would like to have SG rodimus but dont want to pay the retarded price tag for it - hence were kotoys comes in
Also i find it funny you guys bang on about how FP ect are safe, i happen to know the guys who did the designs on afew up coming items for FP and PE and there identities have been kept mega quiet due to hasbro wanting to screw them over for doing certain characters which hasbro are not happy about. Alot of these items you get such as the recent insecticons ect are designed by someone - give to several other people and then made in factories in china were they dont really care what they make so long as someone is paying them. There then given to someone else and they usually sell to all these stores you buy from such as BBTS ect. Trust me if hasbro could - they WOULD stop FP/PE and all these others from making your fav items such as protector and city commander and all the others
i know everyone is allowed there opinions but come on people...when were all arguing about toys and some sad acts make it so a website gets closed down for giving you a choice....it just kinda shows how pathetic this community is getting. I remember 8 years ago when everyone used to be nice to each other and this was the best site around. Now alot of people just seem to argue and bicker with each other and act like dicks. Christ 2005 uses the ban hammer on normal people everyday now for almost nothing its gotten that bad. Were all arguing about a guy who should be left alone to give us that choice of if we want that item or not from them. Hasbro are basically just discriminating against kotoys and considering they seem to have won this victory...belive me they WILL go after FP and all the other 3rd party makers out there
varity is the spice of life isnt it? sorry hasbro i want more than you kissing michael bays mucky arse and then giving me over 100+ different versions of movie bumblebee and crappy prime

Also, KOToys' owner is an antisemitic dick. F that guy and his "products."

Can't believe the nerve of these third-party companies blatantly ripping off Hasbro's IP, they would never do such a thing................

true dat! Like Burn said, you're buying a lie.
Yeah, I know most can't afford the real deal all the time. I'm one of those many, myself. But the KOs are sometimes trying to be sold as the real deal. I can't always tell the difference, so that puts me at risk of getting a KO thinking its real. And yes, I'm a guy who wants the real thing.
I want to think that Hasbro may go after the Third-Party guys, but I don't see them going after some like FP or Maketoys. Their toys may be based off the Transformers concept, but they are in no shape, fashion, or form like the Transformers. And if the topic of the add-on kits comes up, well then I think Hasbro wouldn't be wise to attack that. After all, those kits help to sell their item(s) even more.

El Duque,
If my memory is accurate, and it is not always, I believe that Hasbro or Takara purchased a factory from Bandai that included the rights/license to use the mold. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
