Has anyone done a detailed video tutorial on how to install the new Heavy Labor hips that come with Neck Breaker ?

Besides this photo:

I have seen an old video showing how to fix the bad hips that involves cutting the plastic and re-arranging the gears that strip. But that is too complex for my skill level.

Has anyone done a video on how to simply install the new replacement part ??? If you know of one, can you please link it to this thread ?

Or maybe someone can make a video for this. It would be much appreciated.

Hi, to install the hips replacement part that comes with Neckbreaker is very very easy, even if you aren't a kitbasher.
I'm not aware of any video tutorial, however there is a tutorial with pictures on Robotkingdom's Facebook page.

Just be sure to do it on a clear desk in a well lit room, and be sure to keep tracks of the screws!

That photo is for the hip alignment issue which is only a cosmetic 'issue'. Some have gone as far as saying it's actually better being 'off' for the combined form as it allows for a little less wide legged stance.

As for the hip 'fix', I recommend taking the new hips apart and making sure the gears are well lubed as that is the only fix...some added lube, which may or may not have been applied sufficiently. And as cylor said, it's not very difficult to do. If you're that uncomfortable trying it on your own, do you know anyone else with Herc that could talk you through it? Hell, I could talk you through it myself, but my schedule is pretty tight this week so it would probably have to be Wed. evening or the weekend.

That would be great if you could. Im hoping I can get this done without having to bring him to Botcon.

PM sent...BTW, forgot to mention, the ideal lube is a plastic safe grease lubricant you can find at a hobby store, but you could probably technically get away with 100% petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline) if you wanted as it looks like that's most likely what TFC used for their 'fix'.

How good is the new hip? My old hip has ground to dust and I'd rather not insert a new one that'll just get even more damaged.

Did anyone make on on Shapeways??

Exactly the same as the old hip with (potentially) the addition of lube. I can't recommend strongly enough making sure your new one is well lubed before replacing it.
