ooh, very nice, would like to see them with more commanders, but those ones are probably the best fit thematically.

They're larger than Minicons and Legendes, but not as large as most scouts.

Ya, Mkall, you're right. These just aren't worth it.
I think I'll just hang on to my extra Heavytreads. I like the mold as a simple troop builder grunt, and I think they fit in nicely with my Hardhead/HeadRobots headmasters trio. Maybe a clearance pick-up later, but if they never make it to clearance I'm willing to live without them. Close call on jumping the gun. Thanks for the slap back into financial reality.
If you think about it though, some people spend 30+ for Renderform and Beezleboss heads... I need a new hobby.

I never said they weren't worth it, just that I have no interest in them. They're neat figures and a cool idea to expand PCCs, but it's not my cup of tea. I had decided that if a 3rd party produced a figure that wasn't homage to any official TF, I wouldn't get it.
Comparing prices to other 3rd party things of various scales, it's pretty decent 20ish bucks for a slightly-smaller scout class figure with extra gimmicks.

My concern is still how much articulation can you really pull off with the original commander toys...there sadly isn't a lot of room for limb movement and posability. Btw, I keep seeing people mention that these are going to be in the $20 range, but every pre-order mention I've seen puts them at $30 or more for a set of two, meaning at least $60 total before shipping.Am I missing something like usual here?

So here we are and now we wait and see or hear from the first ballsy soul that will TOFTT and give us the over all QC on these upgrades.

each individual robot is around the $20 range, I think. That's how I read it anyway, and that makes them in line with other 3rd party bots of the same size, and cheaper than something like the Causality series which are a bit bigger. $20 for a Legends/small Basic sized guy that becomes a robot, vehicle and proper limb for a combiner doesn't seem too bad to me.

I might still get these. I'm really having a tough time deciding. The price is about ten bucks more per set than I'd originally heard they'd be. Or at least that's how I remember it. Decisions, decisions.

Well I like the idea of actually being able to do something with Bombshock rather than leaving him in a box ashamed of how crappy he looks competing for shelf-love with the likes of FP Brute and Maketoys Giant. So it's a question of bite the bullet now or regret it and buy at a higher price when everyones decides they wanted them after all.......what to do what to do....?

My take on these is that they just aren't Bruticus enough, even if I had Bombshock.
I mean, the whole combiner looks pretty nice; if all you want is a nice combiner this is great. But it isn't really Bruticus.

It's funny how people complain about the price of every 3rd party product that ranges between $20-40. Really do you guys expect walmart prices ???
While this is not Bruticus, is it really any more Bruticus than it was with Hasbro's poopy drone limbs ??? It's an upgrade, plain and simple. Hasbro is introducing new characters to the TF continuity all the time. So if a 3rd party company can do it better, than why not ??? Bombshock's bio even said that he doesnt care about his squad of drones having the same name as another Decepticon team. (Combaticons) Even if you are a true G1 purist, at some point you probally accepted non G1 characters such as Drift, The Fallen, Sentinal Prime, etc coming into existance. These guys are cool enough to be in a comic or cartoon in my opinion. So I gotta have em !!!

The only reason I'd want to have this is if it was Bruticus. I mean, it's obvious supposed to be Bruticus. So it not being Bruticus is a turn-off.
My collection focuses on Transformers characters. I'm not too interested in non-TF characters, with a few exceptions. This set just isn't for me, regardless of the quality (notice I'm not saying it doesn't look good). I feel this way about all the PCC; I only got Grimstone for obvious reasons. About the only set I'd like to see similarily upgrade is the Protectobots. Because I care so little about them that their lack of G1-ness won't bug me at all.

Im not in any way knocking you, but I got a question ? You say your collection focuses on "Transformers characters". Is Bombshock not a Transformers character ? Or did you mean to say "G1 Transformers characters" ?
Also, what is your stance on comic book inspired characters getting a place in your collection ? The reason I ask this is because I feel Drift is no more of a Transformers character than an upgraded Bombshock. Drift, Impactor, Sentinal Prime, The Fallen, are all examples of how somebodys idea can become part of the TF continuity and even stand side by side with G1 characters. Even funpub has created "characters" that have become accepted as part of the mainstream continuity.

Bombshock is a TF character. These extra limbs, however, are not. They're colored somewhat like the Combaticons, but they deviate far too much to really count for me. The combined effect is like a movie-ish Bruticus, but it isn't quite close enough to wet my appitite.
I will say this for it, though: If I hadn't bought the RotF version and the FP bots AND if there wasn't a FoC Bruticus coming along (bright colors or no), this would be a decent Bruticus.
I like comic characters just fine, although I'm more of a G1 TV fan. Newer characters are also nice sometimes, but I have less interest in them, save for a few exceptions. Before the 3rd party market exploded I'd buy a few on a whim, but now I save my money for TFs I really want (which tend to be $100 a pop now, geez).

Im a G1 cartoon guy. The Combaticons (and Starscream) were my all time favorites. I buy anything Combaticon scout size or bigger. But I must say I have found places for many non-G1 figures in my collection. I had bought the Target Bruticus before the FP upgrades were announced. I loved the individual bot molds so much that I bought the energon versions as well who I use as Shockwave's army. There were many generic Decepticons that were not seekers on Cybertron. I also plan on using the PE Arcee (blue version) as classics Chromia to display with Botcon Elita One. I want to buy the Amazon versions of FOC Combaticons to display them when they were the "Renegade Decepticons" on Cybertron. Im not exactly sure who these guys will represent, but I am a WWII buff so I like them.
