I'll wait for the retool of Xoverain's Scorponock.

This set is kinda cool, but:

I have really bad experience with this mold
The face looks horrible
The claws are unnecessary since the originals are awesome.

A few years too late IMO. I like the original energon version better actually.

I like the look of that. Great idea too. But the original toy isn't going to be super easy to find now that it's what...a decade old? and likening the release plan to crazydevy doesn't engender good feelings about it from me.

Er... not exactly what I had in mind. I would've been fine with just a headmaster and maybe a shield, I'm not quite down with the massive makeover... plus I don't have Dark Scorponock anyway.

It's a set that could come in handy for me considering I have a spare Scorponok who's missing parts that this set may replace.

I *just* bought a Dark Scorponok from BBTS a few days ago so I may consider buying this if they produce it.

I'd get it I'm just not sure I'd use all of it. Still, just picturing that next to my Botcon Deathsaurus as the two Emperors of Destruction. =P~

If people aren't down for all of it, maybe a Crazy-Devy styled release makes sense for this. That way you only buy the upgrades you want.

It's cool, but this isn't my thing. I'm just not into Black Zarak or Scorpinok. Maybe if this was still at retail I'd buy it on a whim, but I'm not into hunting one down. Still, good prototype pics have been known to change my mind.

Looks cool. But they need to tone down the price a little bit. Maybe to the $65-70 price range. Factoring in the added cost of buying a dark scorponok on e-bay, you wind up paying almost as much as you would for a complete G1 scorponok.

I like it. I don't want it as much as a Scorponok kit though. I'd be down if Hasbro just repainted the Energon mold into a better G1 homage too. I gots dreams. ;)

considering 90% of Energon was homages, I'm really very surprised (and disappointed) Hasbro didn't just knock out a quick green and purple version of the guy. There's still Generations, maybe, but it does seem unlikely now. It's quite sad there's a Double Punch coloured version of the mold out there but not a g1 Scorponok one.

"Zarak commands it!"

It might be a little expensive but swapping out the arms and legs of the energon (green) version with double punch's could give you a somewhat G1 looking color scheme.

it's only be a teeny tiny smidgen expensive, and still wouldn't look right. I'd be more likely, which is to say, not very likely at all, to commission a repaint of the slightly cheaper normal Energon version.

It -does- look nice, but I'm holding my breath for an actual city-former. Something that stands an inch or two taller than TFC Not-Devastator, perhaps. I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually once all the combiners are done.

Seriously, stuff like this and Maketoys Giant are the only reasons I still care about this hobby! Even more than half of this years Botcon set was disappointing (Octopunch, Kick Off, Metalhawk, and surprisingly enough Spinister were the only ones worth it in my opinion) and the only Asia exclusive to peak my interest was Wheelie. If it weren't for the MP's I wouldn't be buying anything official this entire year!

I've bought some hasbro stuff... but I've also bought a lot more third-party stuff. Heck, overall I've bought more MLP stuff than 'official' TF toys.

Agreed. The only official figures i've bought this year are Prime Wheeljack, Dead End and a Botcon Spinister (the best figure of the bunch next too Kick Off, IMO)
