Despotron looks amazing and if I ever feel the need for an MP Megatron, he will be it. Either that or the Spark Toys Dreamwave Megatron, because that looks awesome and is a tank.
Anyway, I got Giant recently. No pics because I can't be bothered, but here's a review of him...
Build quality: Second to none. Joints are perfect and the actual plastic is incredible.
Scrapper: Vehicle mode is pretty neat. A shame the scoop only has one joint but it's a nice, vroomable little digger. Transformation is a bit scary, and robot mode LOOKS cool, but the arm articulation is...questionable. All the joints are there so it's not on the level of CW Scrapper and his lack of elbows, but the movement isn't great at all. That said, he definitely looks the part.
Mixmaster: Static drum aside I adore his vehicle mode. It's a perfect little cement mixer and I love it to bits. Transformation is pretty fun. Robot mode is kinda lanky but poses well and looks pretty great on the whole. I love the overhead missiles.
Long Haul: Probably my favourite of the set. Vehicle mode is the cutest dump truck ever with working steering, transformation is pretty clever and the robot mode is awesome. Reminds me of a G1ized ROTF Long Haul.
Hook: Vehicle mode is great, no complaints there. Transformation has a few scary moments but is quite clever. Robot mode...hmm. No bicep swivels, which kinda sucks, and no distinct feet either. He looks cool though, and the combiner head isn't as obtrusive as I thought it might be.
Bonecrusher: Vehicle mode is a well done bulldozer so I instantly love it. Transformation is clever but the bulldozer blade is terrifying to transform. Robot mode is gorgeous. Like, legit amazing. He has a 90 degree ab crunch for crying out loud. Oh, and he has a pair of hilts that will accept any 3mm peg, so if you have, say, sufficiently sized Gundam Beam Sabre blades you can give him lightsabres. The back kibble is a shame but I can deal with it.
Scavenger: Much the same as Bonecrusher due to very similar engineering. Nice excavator mode, cool transformation (without the scary bits of Bonecrusher's) and a superb robot mode.
The forearms: Worth a mention because of how clever they are. By default they're little generators that can be pulled by Scrapper and Mixmaster, but they can also combine with the chromed "screwdrivers" that come with Long Haul to form jackhammers for the Constructicons to use, and Scavenger can use them as power fists. Definitely the best use of the forearm kibble ever.
Devastator: This is where the set shines. All the gripes with the individuals can be set aside here because dear god he is perfect. Looks awesome, with a really nice coherent look that makes him look less like 6 dudes combined and more like one big robot, really solid connections, and crazy articulation. His legs are cool enough, especially for a Devastator, but his arms are insane. Because of the way he transforms, the actual vehicles on the shoulders can get out of the way completely, and this allows for ridiculous range of poseability. His gun pegs in super solidly, he can use the screwdrivers in this mode (a bit like G1 Dev's drills) and as a really nice unintentional feature he can hold CW Shockwave perfectly.
Conclusion: He's awesome. Sure the individuals are a bit dated, but the combined mode holds up absolutely perfectly, and he probably scales better with CW figures than the actual CW Devastator. Plus, with him going for decent prices on the aftermarket, he's probably better bang for buck than UW Devs (at least here in the UK where UW Devs is super expensive). Bottom line, if you want a CHUG Devastator and have a little bit of money to burn, get him.
