I like that they've given Magnus a proper head and not just a recolor of their standard. And it looks like there's a new chest shielf piece.

Can't find good pics of the KO version anymore either. The colors are pretty similar, but definately different. Hopefully Maketoys wins the race this time around and gets their product out FAST.

Drat. I was hoping for info on a TFCC Scourge Battle Tanker.

A little too late. I already ordered the KO's and the price was right at 50 bucks each. I dont plan on removing the heads off of expensive Botcon figures so the new head means nothing to me. My rule for trailers is to buy the original mold once. Then go for KO's on the repaints.

This is all fine and dandy, but how about some love for Scourge, who actually has a trailer in the fiction?

Yeah why no Scourge? Forget Shatted Arse.

Did Maketoys Baulk at the sheer amount of chrome required?

Think I'll pass, but who gave Insecticons some battle armor?

That's Fansprojact's doing. I can't wait for those guys. May pass on these since I already have the first one they did. Plus, aren't Maketoys and Fansproject the same company? I think someone had mentioned that before....

That's really quite nice. I liek the addituion of new accessories to attempt to address the existence of the KO.

Now bring on Scourge!

Sexy as hell, but I'm still holding out on a Scourge setup.

I was referring to the color scheme for the Battle Armor set that goes with SG G2 Optimus. He fits right in with the ninjasecticons.

As good as they look, I still stand by the KO. The new shoulder armor with missles is meant to give the "Ultra Magnus" look. SG Prime is definatially not supposed to share ultra magnus features. He is supposed to be a purple repaint. And whether to consider a G2 prime in Diaclone colors SG Ultra Magnus is very subjective to those who already own DIA Commander. I would rather use him as "Combat Hero Prime" just needs a red face plate. Like I said, not worth another 50 bucks. Whats to stop the KO company from KOing the new parts since they already have 95% of the mold ? I think it's time for Maketoy to move on to something new. It was smart that they dropped their mini-bot line to avoid a battle they couldnt win with IGear. Start making characters that nobody else is doing Maketoys. And go swing around a RPG on a chain and find out what happens... >:oP

I totally disagree with you on this one, X. They deserve to try and make as much money from their investment as possible. Some poeple who haven't dropped money on the KOs already may drop money for these versions. Not everyone is like you in their buying of KOs (and this isn't a knock, this is just a statement of fact), there are a lot of people hostile to KOs.

It's true the KO guys could copy the new parts. But it's eaqually possible that they won't bother. Since they've already shown a finished product I gotta wonder if they'll try to go the extras mile and get their hands on the new parts of this.

Plus they haven't officially dropped their minibots line as far as I can tell. These things take time; it may be that it's still a go.

Got to admit, that Shattered Glass set is pretty damn sweet.

No. MakeToys showed off their prototype for Giant next to Fansproject's Colossus, and I think FP may be a supporter of MT, but that's about the extent of the connection.

Well, these color samples look really good, and I like the missiles, but I don't have these toys and I'm not shelling out for them just for these sets. I would do that for Scourge, but not these guys.

Im not saying they shouldnt try to milk their own mold. Im merely suggesting they start working on some new projects that will build a buzz. Once your mold gets KOed, it's time to move on. You dont see Fansproject rushing to issue SG and Crystal City Commanders to show up the KO companies original repaints. Now you can buy KO versions of the City Commander rocket launchers and gun in black for your Shadow Commander. You can also buy KO Scythes (without the protector armor) in both black and red. Once again, I dont see Fansproject rushing to put out offical versions. These KO companies seem to catch on quick with add ons. So my guess is the shoulder add ons and Magnus head will be KOed next. I dont play favorites with KO companies. I endorse them to KO 3rd party stuff the same way I endorse them to KO Hasbro stuff. Quality control seems to be just getting better and better with each high quality KO since CHMS and KOLD started the trend a few years back. Im always willing to get an expensive figure for half price. A dollar saved can be spent elsewhere.

BTW, until I see it in writing (in English) that Fansproject and Maketoys are related, I dont aknowledge that rumor.

can i just ask

wtf is the point in these??

unless theres a chms ko coming out of the G2 Prime in the botcon and magnus colors....then wtf is the point in both these trailers? KO or Maketoy?

we cant all afford to pay outa the ass for ebay prices for botcon prime and magnus. Even if we did thats what? £120 here in the uk for a purple G2 prime and then say £40 for the ko tanker. So thats £160 on a small toy not that much bigger than a voyager which is just going to sit on your shelfs as a display piece?....

Not many people will own the botcon or shattered glass prime and im sure that these 2 trailer will just look crap on normal G2 prime...so why make a market for such a small amount of people who will own magnus and Sg prime?

The only viable reason for this is that maketoys MUST know if theres a KO prime being made by chms or someone else on the horizon. Otherwise your just making a mass release Trailer for figures which will be in short supply which means not many of the trailer will be sold

FP did the Shadow Scyther set for Protector and it sold just fine. I'm sure these will too (probably mostly to people who got Botcon versions of RTS Prime).

there will be a market. there are 1800 Primus Packages sold. That's not including the lose ones they sell. number of SG UMs out there is prob around 2500 if not more, I'm sure they'll have no problems selling 1000? there will be a market.

FP hasn't made new armors all the time, but they have reissued CC quite a few times already, even with the KO armor out.

3rd party products take time to make and MT still have the not-Fallen coming out. If you want to compare it to FP, there were entire YEARS where we never saw hide nor hair of them, never mind a new mold. MT has been hit pretty hard with the tanker and Giant KOs. Clearly it'll take a bit of time and money befpore they'll be ready to give their next project the attention it deserves.

Plus alot of people will use the Magnus armor for the Combat Hero Prime which comes in a 4 pack with G2 Jazz and 2 legends figures. I actually like the KO better because it has blue wrists. Im not using the figure as Ultra Magnus. I already have KO DIA Commander.
