Thinking about buying my first 3rd party.

So I've never owned any third party bots, but I was recently watching a MP Lambor/Sideswipe review and they showed him with iGear PP05W Weapon Specialist.. It looked awesome. The scale looked perfect and I'm really thinking about getting him to stand with my MPs. I've been interested in the Mini Warriors for a bit now also. So I'm just wondering what people think about iGear for the prices. Any complaints or praising of Weapon Specialist?

I've got Rager and he is a really nice toy. Hench and UFO are sitting in my POL atm so can't comment on them yet.

As for Weapon Specialist and Medical Specialist, they look really nice, but need to be about $20 cheaper before I'll grab em. Can't see the point of all the extra, frankly pointless, crap they come with and don't want to spend so much on all of it.

That said, if you're not worried about the extra equipment or like it all, then I'd say go for it. They are very nice figures going by what I've seen of em.

If you are looking for items to stand with an MP collection, The PP05's work well.
I have both and I'm really very impressed with the sculpt, transform and array of weapons.
In fact, the amount of gear they come with allows you to really customize your display.
For the price, I feel I'm getting a better deal from iGear than I am from the official line base don the amount of stuff they come with.

I don't have the new MP Sideswipe yet, but you can get an idea of the scale from the reviews online.
I do have a lot of Alternators though, and those seem to be about the same size as the new MP cars, give or take, so the PP05's scale pretty well there if you are looking for a uniform size.

I also feel the PP05s fit in just fine with a classics collection, and that is where I have mine at the moment.
While some say they are a bit large, they work for me.
Though they ARE just a hair bigger than classics Prime, so are Grapple and Inferno, so they do fit in with other voyagers.

Switching to the mini-warriors, I have all 4 released so far.
I would recommend the new ones, Hench and UFO, but not Rager and Spray.
The only reason I would shy away from Rager and Spray is the smaller scale.
IGear seems to be moving to the larger size, and the general suspicion is that those characters will eventually see a release in the larger size. At the moment this is still a rumor.

Again, they can all work in either a classics, or MP display, depending on how big you expect the characters to be in relation to one another.

I own Spray, Rager, Kup/Perceptor gun set, and Kup heads set and love them all. Got Hench and UFO in my pile of loot. I dont own the Ironhide or Ratchet molds because Im not really into collecting MP scale other than a few favorite characters. But I have no problems with Igear. Just make sure you buy them from BBTS or TFsource. Ive heard horror stories about Igear customer service. My friend bought directly from them and got stuck with a Rager that was missing one gun. They never got back to all his e-mails.

I think I actually like all the accessories for "Ironhide," but not sold on "Ratchet" yet. It will let me change it up from time to time. I went ahead and ordered Weapon Specialist. As soon as I read 2 positive replies I lost control :D . Maybe should have started with a Mini Warrior, but we'll see.

I was thinking the same, I really like the looks of Rager and Spray, but I've seen several comments on scale, and I know that would bother me. So hopefully the larger scale rumor becomes a reality.

If you like "Ironhide" and everything he comes with then you made the right choice ;)

Found MGT-01 Delicate Warrior on TFsource and I'm thinking about getting it seeing as I've wanted an Arcee for my Classics set for some time.

Thing is, I don't want to ship one item and now I'm thinking of getting "Ironhide" and "Ratchet"! :BANG_HEAD:

Why oh why did I respond to this thread!!! :P :HEADHURTS: #-o

Haha, sorry to spread a spending virus. I'm thinking about putting off my PoL for a few more months to delay the likely 3rd party shopping spree "Ironhide" is going to induce. I wanted to ship this week, but I'm worried now :BANG_HEAD:

IGear's Ratchet is just as good as Ironhide. If you are going to be getting into Masterpieces, PP05w and PP05m are perfect additions to a Masterpiece collection. Also, if you have a CHUG collection, iGear's Delicate Warrior (Arcee) is the perfect addition for your Autobots. Then there is a must have, if you can find it, Hegemon. This is the best Megatron we have ever received. Hasbro and Takara have nothing on Hegemon that can compare to it. One last one, with the Energon Bruticus Maximus getting a rerelease soon, Fansproject's Crossfire addons look amazing on it.

True. I kind of like Ratchet better as he comes with really cool stuff.

True. Best Gee-wunny Arcee, hands down.

True, but he's not perfect.
He IS the best G1 Megatron so far, but he could be improved upon at some point.

Also True.
But I suspect at some point we will get a full 3rd party Bruticus once they have run through the other combiners.

That’s where I'll be putting em for now, might replace my classics later.

Expecting a 3rd party at some point, besides, got Energon Bruticus Maximus and even with the add-ons it won't come close.

Time to tighten the belt a little bit!

On Bruticus, at TFCon the FP Core guys said another group is working on making a new Onslaught, Vortex, and Brawl to work with the FP limbs we already have. Not Fansprojects, though.

Don't have the existing two, what size are they?

@Zod - Well, I asked personally and said so here when TFcon was all the rage. Buuuut, nobody remembers I suppose. There wasn't any more to my question either, BTW, just asked if rumors of FP making the remaining bots were true or not. Didn't ask when they'd come out or be advertised.

@Arc - About Scout sized, like the original FP limbs. So ... about new deluxe sized? Their Menasaur limbs are exactly the same size as FoC Shockwave (at least the 2 prototypes we've seen are).

Hmmm... I've kinda willing to buy the Stunticons at that size as they should just fit with my Classics set, but NO WAY am I getting Combaticons when they are so small!

Don't be too worried. Yes he could very well start a shopping spree, but with pre-orders and POL the damage can be spread out. The best reason to hold off on shipping is if you are thinking about buying something else in the next month or two and can then reduce shipping costs.

Do you think so? Seems pretty good to me, but it's your call. Found this pic just now that shows Swindle among classics Decepticons. They're all around that size except for Onslaught.

Still, if you feel it's too small keep supporting TFC. They'll probably get to the Combaticons eventually.

He looks out of place to me, just way too small. Toys with tank, hummer, helicopter and space shuttle alt modes need to be bigger for me to feel they fit. The seekers are a bit undersized as it is and he is a lot smaller. I'll most likely wait for something bigger, but will still be interested in seeing the final product and will make my final decision then.

Edit: That said, I never felt like Blastoff really fit with the Combaticons. A space shuttle with a military team? If someone made a larger set with a jet instead I'd definitely buy that :D

FP made him into an unmanned space drone that's actually in scale with the other Combaticons.

Scale ...

Image

I know what you're saying about tanks, but scale's just one of those things. I mean, even ideally, we're talking about a jeep the size of a tank or a tank the size of a jeep.

Edit: Not that I'm really trying to sway you into buying these guys, of course. The scale's just something that's never really bugged me about them and not a complaint I usually see. The original Combaticons were pretty small toys anyway, so like the minibots, I don't have too much trouble seeing them as slightly smaller robots.

I'm not that anal about scale, if I was I'd never have bought the seekers. I just don't want it getting to out of hand like the original Combaticons when compared with Autobot cars and Seekers. Looking for a set that, while isn't perfect scale, isn't so completely out of scale that is looks ridiculous.

It all comes down to what each collector wants for his/her collection and I'm looking for the type of toys TFC and FP is making atm. Bigger is better :P

Bigger is better only when you have a big enough wallet to match. :P

I too like TFC's scale, but I'm not very keen on their price or the idea of rebuying a Superion and Bruticus to replace my _too-small" ones. Especially with Menasor coming out at the same overall size.

The Seeker mold is also a bit small (BB out bulks him), but I already have a whole army. Enough is enough.

My wallet is on life support at the moment

No point spending a fortune on big expensive toys if you have something you like, even if it is smaller. I got those sets years ago when they first came out and liked em, but not enough to upgrade, so happy to get "replacements" when I can (they're packed away these days) ;)

Actually, I think the TFC scale works well with Bruticus and soon to be released Fansprojects Menasor. 6 construction vehicles and 6 jets should be bigger than the stunticons and combaticons

The figures scale a little better vehicle-wise, but not fiction-wise.

Menasor is Superion's nemesis, not Devestator. They can't really square off rightly against each other if one's huge and the other's tiny, can they?

Meanwhile Devestator's nemesis is Omega Supreme. So he's fine being taller.

And, while it's true jets are bigger than cars, they are MUCH bigger. FAR larger. Really, even TFC's Superion is out of scale. Which is why I tend to disregard scale entirely for non car TFs.

The obvious solution, of course, is for TFC to simply do all the combiners. But, yeah ... money. It'll cost lots and lots of money.

weighing in on PP05W- I ordered him last year, had to wait almost a year for him to finally ship, and when he got here, he was completely worth the wait... I thnk you would like him if you grab him- he scales decently with MP10
