The shapeways stuff seems really expencive to get into, although I do like some of what i see here. But what really caught my attention (and what I didn't notice in my first look at these; I didn't look at the video sicne I'm so damned impatient) is the stanless steel hips for Exgraver.

**** YES!

I don't know about anythign else, but I will buy the HELL out of that when it's released. I kept my gound-to-Hell Exgraver hips just in case and now I'm glad I did. I'm totally down for replacing the damaged gears in those with anything new.

Most of these parts cater to collectors petty complaints rather than anything groundbreaking. I would rather see some more G1 cartoon accurate heads like the custom ones done on the TFW2005 Radicons board. I would buy this stuff if if someone like X-Transbots would mass produce them as a complete set in colored plastic. I decided no to mess with shapeways. Sanding and the suggested use of auto body primer before paint is way too much work. And matching the exact shade of purple would be a pain in the ass, let Crazydevy do it since they got it right.

Okay, prepare to have this whole kit broken out into about 4 - 5 sets, each set costing about as much as the version released on Shapeways. And who knows how long it would take for all of them to be released.

I totally understand that some people want to buy a "finished" product and not prep and paint it themselves (I'm in that boat due to lack of trying), but don't think it's the right move if another group took this over and released it themselves. Here's a solution that may only work for a few folks, and I hope the additions make their Hercules a better experience.

Would also like to comment that those stainless steel pieces are very attractive and I can't wait to hear more about them.

What is the point of all that extra ****? Adding more kibble to a figure that already works well and as intended isn't an improvement at all.

No kidding. Who IS it for though? Who needs all that extra kibble to add and remove any time you want to transform the figures? I just don't see the point at all.

Some of that's tempting, but the fact that it's not a finished product is a turn-off.

However, I'm anxiously awaiting his metal hip replacements. I still have my ruined version 1 of Heavy Labor's hips and I'd love to replace the current ones on him with a nice metal set that I can have faith in.

Some people need to be convinced. If you do, then you don't have to buy into it.

I actually have the metal hips on and they are worth it. As you can see in the pictures, Herc can stand straighter.

So they're fully completed? Are they from Shapeways? I wouldn't think they were ....

Yes and yes. Just not painted. It's pricey, if you buy the full set. You can still get parts if you want to. I have the full monty, the metal hips, and some D-rings. I'm actually waiting on the cab covers...

I didn't knoewShapeways did stainless steel parts. Hh.

It says there's no refund due to "design issues" ... are the hips totally done? Or is it still in beta stages. I don't mind waiting a bit longer to get good, trustworthy, hips.

As for the rest, well ... the drill's tempting,b ut there's just too much I want. I've seen the end results from experienced customizers and it's pretty impressive.

Not sure, but when I had issues with one of the metal gears, SW refunded it and I was able to order another set. You should be able to contact SW if you do encounter any issues. The SFW gears should hold up nicely.

As well I know there is a lot of interest for this kit painted, and many without the paint skills or desire to paint the kit. Seeing how I have a lot of time on my hands lately I am willing to paint the kit for you. If anyone is interested please email me at d.851.brown@gmail.com to work out the details.
