FansProject or Maketoys should redo Superion

This discussion started in another non-related thread and thought it is worth discussing more in its own thread without derailing the other one.

I too would buy a new one, but for now I'm fine with FP's first Superion. I'd rather see more "new" projects than just retreading the old stuff.

I too am still content with my FP Superion. People are really starting to dis the FP superion quite a bit these days saying it's aging badly and whatnot. I think it still rips.

As others have mentioned - 5-6 yeras ago this figure was a good stand in for Superion, but it now seems out-dated. None of the figures look like their G1-selves, and the coloring is off. I will agree that it is Superion "like", but I would rather have a better representation that is in scale with the other Fansproject/Maketoys gestalts.

I agree with folks that Defensor, Technobots, and Terricons need some attention too, but I hope FP will eventually redo Superion with their own set instead of leaving this to the fate of an Energon set plus add ons.

After Defensor is done, I'd be more than happy to see Sperion revisited. I like the FP upgraded version well enough even without additional add-ons (although some have caught my eye), but it's a mould that was never very good. It's too bad TFC isn't one for making their toys in different size classes. They'd really clean up with Superion.

Also wouldn't mind an additional three Combaticons for the Bruticus set.

But only AFTER Defensor. He's the last of the original batch and I very much want a complete Seasons 1-the movie cast.

Well, for me, I love Crossfire I. It took a below-average combiner team and brought it up significantly. I've still got it on my Classics shelf and when I complete Uranos, it'll still be there.

Times change, yes. It's been surpassed, but it's still good.

My only problem with FP or MT doing this is the size i'm not too fussed about scale but if they were to do it to scale with the rest i would hate to see them be scout sized/small deluxe again, i'm glad TFC uranos is huge with them being planes and that's why i don't have a problem with Menasor being shorter because of the size difference between planes and cars , i would sooner have a new Bruticus myself but like the others have said i would sooner see the rest get made before any remakes.

I'm getting TFC so I see no reason for FP or Maketoys to do a new one.

I agree with others that Defensor needs some love by somebody (don't really care who).

Gotta disagree with you here. I think the size would be perfect. Because they'd be in line with Classics Starscream, who was a smallish deluxe before smallish deluxes were the norm. I have a whole whack of Classics Seekers, official and otherswise, so I'd rather the Aerialbots match them in alt. and bot mode ratehr than be stupidly large.

And I've gotta disagree with you :D "Scout" sized combiners was sooooo 80's and making them that size is multiple massive steps backwards as far as I'm concerned. The combined forms are supposed to be BIG, not a little taller.

The Classics Seeker mold may be on the small side, but I'd rather it was just those characters (and a tiny handful of others) that looked small compared with the rest of the Neo-Classics lineup than all the combiner teams and everything that'll be released in the future as well ;)

I'm gonna mirror the sentiment for having a Defensor done first, and give an outright NO the topic main subject. I already have zero love for multiple third parties tackling the same thing at once and/or re-treading ground that's already been covered. If neither of the available options for Superion are 100% to your liking, well that's just tough beans as far as I'm concerned. [-(

I don't think you can classify classics SS as scout sized. There's still quite the difference there.

As much as big combiners look impressive together I like it when the alt. modes are of a similar size in my TF collection. And since classics SS sets the standard for planes, that means I'd rather see the Areialbots THAT size. The only other recourse would have a new set of Seekers be voyager sized and that's nuts with the amount I have right now.

As for Defensor first .... well, yeah, I'd like that too. But this isn't a Defensor topic, so ...

I would like to see either one do a full Superion homage.Hopefully one of them will eventually do one. Don't get me wrong, TFC Uranos looks great, but it's just too expensive for me, at 100 a pop, plus 130 just for Silverbolt.

Honestly I think TFC did a pretty good job....I think their Superion looks better than their Devastator (Herc).

Every 3rd party with the exception of Igear put a classics spin on the characters so it is not like they would do any better of g1 representation on it...

Agreed. And if anything, a FP or Maketoys version would likely be even less G1 given the looks their designers seem to go for.

It's not that TFC did a bad job ... it's that they did an expencive and rather large job. Some prefer the MT/FP size of combiners.

Yep, I know, the same is true with Hercules. I can understand why some collectors would prefer one less expensive and less massive, but for me, TFC's fills the gap quite nicely (as does Hercules for Devastator).
