L.O.D. Workshop FOC Grimlock G1/IDW add-ons

Since nobody has put it up. The same group that's going to release the Bruticus Cow Catcher add-on is coming up with an add-on for FOC Voyager Grimlock to convert it to G1/IDW version. I includes a new head with blue/red visors, big-ass sword, gun/blaster, and a dino-belly that also converts over to a backpack/wings (similar to G1 Grimlock's).

This looks really intriguing.

Will this be sold through Online retailers like BBTS/TF-Source or is this a fan DIY kind of project???

love the idea of a dino-belly. was pretty sure someone would make one. this looks like shapeways though, so I'll pass for now.

L.O.D. is a new 3rd party group. I would assume that they would release this via the regular e-tailers.

Shouldn't be too tough. Everywhere I go to look for Blaster, if there is anything it is usually just a Grimlock or two staring up at me from the shelf, laughing at me.

First impressions of this idea, why the hell would you want to buy clip on back kibble?

Looks like you missed what it is for.... FOC Grimlock has a big gap in Dino mode. They created a cover for it, which is then reused in bot mode to resemble the G1 Grimlock chest. that basically look like wings.

Oh, I dont own FoC Grimlock as yet and the pictures I have seen have only been front views, so I wasnt aware he had a gap?
Anyone fancy popping a picture up of said gap? ;)

Holding judgement until I see a complete prototype.

What happened to the IDW head this lot were planning for MP Grimlock? I was digging that.

Does it come with paint? Cause this figure really needs a better paint job. Maybe this will look good with the Takara version cause the biggest problem with the Hasbro version I don't think this add-on will fix..

I actually kind of dig the colors on the US Grimlock.

I was a pleasantly surprised when I got him in hand.

I may go for these add-ons though, I really like the heads, especially the toothy grin, gun and sword.

Not totally sold on the faux belly, but I'll wait till I see the final product there.

Now if they could just fix his cankles!

Most likely L.O.D. would release two versions to cover both the Hasbro and Takara version. From what I have known, the set will come pre-painted. So, all you need to do is just affix the parts to the figures that you own. BTW, encline is part of L.O.D. :D

Funny, I actually found him today (he was hiding behind a Soundblaster) and picked him up. Now I'm just waiting to see pictures of the Takara version to decide if I'm keeping him or now. Looks really good though!

Pre-painted? hmm... I was hoping for colored plastic vs. paint. Paint just chips unless you are very careful, or you have a overload of a good protective coating.

He probably means pre-colored, aka not Shapeways.

Depends on the price, but this could workj well for my FOC Grimlock and bring him up to spec for my Classics shelf.

The head looks very good, especially with the teeth.

Encline updated on the facebook page again. Workshop is only coming out with the head by itself at first. Then they will release the sword. The gun was canceled. At the moment, the belly upgrade is canceled, unless they get more interest. Apparently the costs of all the items as a kit was over $60 retail.

This is disappointing. I really dont need a new head, but for me the idea of a packaged deal was great and I would've used the new head. Given the option, I'm not sure I'll buy a head separately but I did watch and enjoy Encline's video review of it. The best part about the Workshop making these upgrades was to have a belly filler, and I'm very much looking forward to it. I hope they go through with that piece.

I'm underwhelmed with Workshops efforts now. At least they are still giving people the option to do the blue or red visor by including both, but the gun is cancelled, who knows what will go on with the sword (even though I'm not interested in getting a new one), and now trying to figure out if there's really demand for the belly filler? :HEADHURTS:

Oh well, I guess the whole set would have been a good sell, but lack of interest speaks for itself.

Perhaps if Encline had gone with an established player these add-on parts could have seen the light of day?

Buying one or two bits seperately... meh! :-?
