Another head to head fight, this time it's Preceptor. Hope KFC has got their gloves on.

I don't think it's legit. They've been joking about MMC Perceptor a lot on TFW and I think that this was made to further the joke.

Unless it's a doubleback...

Time will tell @ TFCon though.

If this is legit then KFC will be an automatic pass.

I figure if it was on MMC's facebook page it was legit

Once upon a time, I'd have been excited. I mean, what has Hasbro done for Perceptor? A van with tank treads? Really?

Then I ended up picking that figure up. What can I say? Found him on clearance. Turned out he was actually a petty neat figure. Especially once I added Reprolabls, and figured out that he could also hold his G1 equivalent's gun.

I'm more then happy with this. He fits in quite well with my collection, and looks damn good in robot mode. As for his vehicle... Yes, it isn't a microscope. But it grew on me fast once I had it in hand, especially with the Reprolabels. (Tying it into an actual scientific organization -- The United States Antarctic Program -- was a really nice touch.) Yes, it isn't strictly G1, but Classics style figures have always not been afraid to update the alt modes a bit. (What's that? Kup and Blurr have realistic Earth vehicles as their alt modes now? Frenzy and Rumble are little tanks? And Megatron's a Nerf gun? Okay... maybe that last one wasn't the best example...) So I'm fine with him not being a microscope anymore.

If you aren't happy with that... Well, more power to you, I suppose. But I really wish third party companies would stick with giving us figures that haven't been done. (Or accessories to augment existing figures, such as the classic City Commander example.)

Interesting. I'm okay with Generations, and I have the reissue too. But if Hexatron and Feral Rex blow my socks off...

Seems unnecessary to me... Wish these guys would focus on figures whom are having a harder time getting updates like Dinobots, Pretenders, Monstructor, Skylynx, or Monsterbots.

Personally, I think they could do a great job 'reformatting' Monstructor based on what we've seen from Feral Rex. I wouldn't mind seeing their take on the Dinobots either.

But another Perceptor?

Agreed pretty much 100%. Perceptor is a rather good toy and update to the G1 character. We don't need a third-party Percy.

I am interested in this project and where it will lead.

That reminds me. I was going to post again my interpretation of the microscope mode of Generations Perceptor:

I think this is why I'm not too enthused about a different Perceptor. I'm happy with this one.

Yeah i also think hasbros RTS perceptor is a nice figure if i want to see a 3rd party do an already existing hasbro figure it would be a hotrod/rodimus prime i dug mine out to put on my shelf and that guy is tiny and sucks he has no place in my collection anymore.

Not to keep going off topic... But I quite like Classics Hot Rod, and (while it is well sold out and thus hard to find for a decent price these days) there is of course a good third party ad-on that will help beef him up (and make him into Rodimus Prime) if the base figure is too tiny for your needs.

I do quite like the upgrade armour but i don't know what my chances would be on getting the set now i would love to see a rodimus prime looking very similar in height and build to the generations springer figure .

This is the first MMC design that I don't understand the purpose. He looks more like the G1 toy than what I think as an iconic cartoon looking Perceptor. Are the beefy legs necessary?

I think the KFC perceptor looks too similar to the Generations one already. Those pointy deltoids on the KFC one don't seem right though???

This one looks very G1, but my first question is can you move the should cannon to the other side so it is more like the cartoon???

Also I would need to see the Cartoon face sculpt before deciding.

I also like the Hasbro version just fine, most seem to criticize it, but it works for me....

I'm not completely sold on this. It looks light-years better than what KFC are doing, but that head and the lower legs need work.

I'm not a fan of Hasbro's version because it is a pain to transform and subsequently zero fun to play with.

I think I heard somewhere that this is suppose to be an articulated G1 Toy Perceptor. while the KFC one is suppose to be comic Perceptor? correct me if I'm wrong. either way they are both not necessary. Looks cool though.

There's a face changing gimmick in this one to give him the cartoon's face.

Actually, I really like this guy. Perceptor was the last TF I got as a kid (Toys R Us has him leftover for some reason, so I got him quite late, after Quickswitch even) so I'm partial to getting one. The KFC one is really nice looking, but it's not too different from the current one in as far as they both have similar proportions. The fact that KFC's microscope mode looks like a secondary concern to the tank mode is also a turn off. This one looks like the one I had as a kid. A cartoon face would be all I need to really drive me to get it.

I like most of MMC's stuff but this guy isn't working for me. I don't get the point of anther bulky Perceptor…but thats probably bc I don't need a generations version of the G1 toy. I'll stick with KFC this round.

I'm intrigued.

Not sold mind you.

But definitely intrigued.

However, if I had to decide at this very moment, the excellence of Hexatron would put me all in.

With all the stuff that's coming out, I need to focus on filling gaps, not replacing characters that Hasbro did with a decent amount of awesomeness.

I will be passing on this guy

Agree 100%. Wish they were doing The Fallen instead... we need some more healthy competition for our hard earned dollars ;)
