Multiple layers of cynicism towards this one. I haven't splurged for a Titan Metroplex yet so I'm eager to learn more about this, but the proportions turn me off.

It's far too basic in my opinion detail and transformation are just too simple and base mode just sucks for a figure i assume will be huge .

Just got Generations Metroplex and is perfect for me. Not sure about a 3P Trypticon though, fingers crossed Hasbro will continue with the Titan Class figures.

I was thinking that if this guy was small enough then it could be re-purposed as an extension of Generations Metroplex. With all the weapons barrels it could maybe serve as Sixgun.

I can see the reasoning for NOT making a Trypticon though. There is still a thread of hope that Hasbro will make a Trypticon. So if some company makes one and then Hasbro releases one the sales of a third party Trypticon would be ruined. This Metroplex is clearly DIFFERENT from the one Hasbro made, being directly FOC. The maker of this knows Hasbro would never release a FOC Metroplex to compete with a Generations toy. So this toy is safer to release.

if it's a big enough size to do it justice, the price will be ridiculous, and I don't think it looks like it'd be worth it. if they do one small, then what's the point?

The city mode DEFINITELY destroys the Has/Tak version and looks almost exactly like he did in the show and Transformers: The Movie from what I remember, but the renders of the bot mode are a bit simplistic, although I expect that the renders are just to show off the basic design, not the final level of detail.
If this is sizeable, and especially if it's produced by ProjectX (the same guys that did Genesis, AKA WfC Omega Supreme) then I will absolutely buy this, no matter the price, and I'll probably cancel my preorder for the Takara Generations Metroplex (I skipped the Hasbro version).
I like the FoC design far more than the outdated G1 toy looking Generations figure we got and don't even understand why Hasbro labeled it "Fall of Cybertron" because it's not even close to the FoC design like their deluxes and voyagers were.
edit: and just to add, the proportions actually look pretty accurate to me considering the source material:

Here's a hint for the haters (just as with Genesis): This is NOT "G1", it's from the game, just like Genesis was. If you want G1, get the Has/Tak version. This figure is not a waste because I exist; I being the type of collector that actually WANTS a video game accurate version of this character which was the same reason I dropped over $300 without a second thought on ProjectX Genesis and totally skipped the poopy Hasbro repaint/retool of that outdated Omega Supreme toy.

Generations Metroplex is not labeled as FOC, that was just miscommunication in inside sources before it was officially revealed.
And this is not pointless, it's FOC as in Aligned Metroplex, Hasbro's Metroplex is a Classics esque version G1 Metroplex. This is exactly the same as the Genesis, aka 3rd Party WFC Omega Supreme.
And seriously, if there is just one of you who still thinks WFC/FOC are G1, I will literally reach through the screen and rip of your face.
As for my opinion here, the current renders don't look like final renders (at least I hope they aren't). They need to rework the chest, it has to actually collapse in on itself to be a little shorter to be accurate to the actual design, in other words, it needs to be a little more complex instead of the solid piece it currently is.

Possibly reinforced by the fact that they added FOC Metroplex electronic speech to the toy...

I'm going to say I think that*, only because I think it is amazing if you can actually reach through my screen, and want to see you try. Of course, I am rather attached to my face, so I may put up a fight if you try to carry out the full threat... We'll see what happens. If I live through it, perhaps we can have a conversation on more productive (and lucrative) ways to use this marvelous new going-through-screen technology you claim to possess. (We can probably make a lot of money with it!)
Onto the subject of this toy... I'm sure there is a market for it. A few here have already expressed interest. But as the majority seem happy with the Has/Tak version, is there
enough of a market, or is this a foolish product to attempt?
*As for if I actually believe that, as there is a 50% chance that the truth will result in no attempts to reach through the screen, I cannot confirm it one way or the other.

^-- This! It's why there is confusion on whether or not Titan Metroplex can be considered the same as Foc Metroplex. Hasbro would seem to say that this is the case.
And now for the really fun part.

I consider WfC to be consistent with G1 and like it as part of my own imaginary continuity. The characters clearly have more of a G1 homage than the so-called Aligned continuity. (FoC a little less so...)
*Runs away from Dead Metal*
Really, though, I have always thought of the rich history of Transformers as fostering imagination and creativity. If someone wants to consider G1 and Energon as part of the same continuity, who am I to say they can't? I dislike Hasbro's push to stifle this sort of creativity. To each their own!
Now, back on topic, the renders do look great! They are spot on with the game. I wonder if there would be a carrier mode. And to anyone who complains that the transformation is too simplistic, cannot the same argument be made for Titan Metroplex? Basically he sits down, points his arms back or swings one around to the back to split a peck for "City Mode." I am a little disappointed with the lack of engineering in the two alt modes, though given his size and how hard it is to maneuver his legs around, I understand why they went the direction they did. Where Titan Metroplex gets it right is in the detailing. It is OUTSTANDING!!
All that said, I don't think I could afford a FoC Metroplex.

With all due respect, as a fan of WFC/FOC there is a mile long list of characters you can do that truly need renditions as their Classics counterparts are completely off from their video game designs. Jetfire, Slipstream, Arcee, Demolisher - there's even a FOCing Megatron.
For all intents and purposes, Generations Metroplex can pass as a FOC Metroplex. For most and alot of people, its going to! But is TFCC Slipstream = WFC Slipstream, and etc? No! Where's Breakdown? Or Ironhide? Ratchet? I don't know why 3Ps are rehashing this when money could be made on smaller characters who need new molds, instead of trying to grab at the really small pool of people who wanted a more game accurate Metroplex over Gen MP. Planet X is doing it right..

I have to agree with Blurrz, I think the timing for this is bad.
With many of us still waiting to get our titan Metroplexes, I can't see shelling out for ANOTHER Metroplex so soon.
I am speculating that this will be about the size/price of the recent Omega Supreme, so that is a lot more $$$ for a lot less figure.
Maybe if they waited a year or two for the new car smell to wear off of Titan Metroplex, they would find a wider audience.

So? Sound FX are still no proof for anything.
Besides, if he's supposed to be FOC Metroplex, then why the hell doesn't he look like FOC Metroplex? That's like putting Movie Optimus Prime in your G1 collection because it has the same voice as G1 Prime and says the same stuff he's famous for.

Ok you two are just asking for it now, you brought it upon yourselves.
Not today, maybe not tomorrow, or next week, but one day when you forgot all about this and you're on your PC doing work/ reading the news/ watching porn bam

It truly boggles the mind that we haven't gotten an FOC Megatron form HasTak, or 3rd Parties. That design is beautifully more G1-inspired, and would look fantastic as a voyager, easily outclassing any potential candidate for Classics Megatron on my shelf (and I suspect many might feel the same).

I think there would be enough market for this to make a profit (I expect Genesis did, even with Hasbro's efforts to undermine it with their "Year of the Snake" offering, which itself used a color scheme and altered design deliberately intended to emulate the game), but I also agree that I would LOVE to see some of the smaller bots done. Particularly the Decepticon cars Breakdown and Barricade in particular because I loved their designs in the games. An add-on/mod set for WfC Megatron to turn him into FoC Megatron would be nice and probably doable as well.
Still, I've been wanting an FoC Metroplex ever since I first saw images of him from the game, and if this does a decent job of emulating that, I'll pay for it, even if it's the same price as one of TFC's combiners ($500~$600) because I want it THAT badly and I don't think I'm alone.

In your defense of this, I could use the same points for a better FoC Optimus Prime and Starscream. Optimus is a twig of what he truly was in the game, and while Starscream manages to work well with the restraints the designers likely had in amount of plastic and transformation steps required - the figure is a shell of the WFC/FOC seeker mold could truly be.
Yet despite all of this, I don't want a 3P FOC Optimus Prime or Seeker mold because I'm content of what was offered by Hasbro. I know they're not going to make characters like the rest of the Dinobots, Air Raid or Breakdown, or even more minor characters like Slipstream, Warpath, Dead End and Zeta Prime, its what I yearn for from 3Ps.
The amount of engineering for this to be made would probably translate into one figure, but the amount of plastic could probably translate into 2 or 3 smaller figures that would likely attract alot more attention and profit then this venture.
But alas, to each their own. Have fun with this xyl xD

Maybe. Probably not but maybe. If I do get it expect my sig pic to be forever changed to a shot of it, Titan class, and G1 all in matching horrible sweaters like a terrible 80's Christmas card fail.
