Wonder why no group has thought of this?

So I'm just randomly reading on TFWiki, until I hit the Pretender article. Then it hit me like a brick: I wonder how come no group hasn't paid much attention to them? I'd like to see someone pull them off, once this combiner- and Headmaster-itis is put to rest.

Hell, I'd take a little upgrade to Generations Thunderwing, Black Shadow, and Skullgrin. But that would mean I'd have to hunt Thunderwing and Skullgrin down, and I already got a crap ton of other stuff on my "To Get" list. :-(

I'm not a huge fan of Pretenders and their outer shells. I like what Hasbro's done with making the robot mode being a merging of pretender and inner robot characteristics.

At least those figures aren't going very much on eBay. Chances are, you can get them for half their retail prices or less.

I wouldn't mind someone trying it out. Especially if they do the ones I had as a kid.

Oh, no sir, no eBay for me. I've had way too many bad experiences from them to even dare looking in that direction. [-( But I thought I seen TFSource had a sale for Thunderwing for about $8 a pop, though... :-?

Modernized Pretenders (shells and all) could get a bit of love from me, but it's definitely low on the "list of stuff that no one has done that I'd pay money for" list. I'd be down with some of the beast Pretenders being done, their shells are great. I'd also like to see the unreleased Double-Pretenders get done in a modern way. That would be cool.

Bullseye. ;)^

That said, I would like an IDW style Thunderwing that'd function as a shell for the Generations figure.

I, too, was not really a fan of the pretenders. I didn't like the obvious mass shifting of Soundwave, Blaster, and Megatron. I felt like the Pretenders just took mass shifting and shoved it in my face...

Plus, those came out right at the end of my adolescence. I'm pretty sure my interests were turning more toward software. And I don't mean computer programs. ;) I don't have a childhood attachment to the Pretender line like I do to G1, Voltron, Robotech, G.I. Joe, Mighty Orbots, etc. etc.

I'd be down for some pretender shells. I just can't think of a way a 3rd could do them justice.

Well, they could do Pretenders well if they abandoned the fully-formed shell idea and made the pretender parts pieces of armor that fit around key parts of the toy. The monster pretenders would be easier to do than human ones.

Gotta agree with this. It's a great compromise that's resulted in some kick-ass figures.

i would be asking for the the impossible the only way i would be interested is if the shell was fully articulated with a deluxe size robot inside .
