Interesting.

I've gotta say, however, that until TF4 comes out, I'm going to take a wait and see approach to Dinobots to see what Has/Tak come up with.
With the exception of that FoC Swoop....

Yep, same here (I'm pretty much sold on any WfC/FoC stuff that Planet X decides to do) but I'm sure there will be plenty of takers for this who were looking for something more G1 than the FoC versions.

Those renders are uninspiring, but they do seem to be pretty early renders.

That would be me ! Im using MP grimlock for classics scale so i would welcome this. But i still hope toyworld does their dinobots.

Not interested. I'll keep my interest in Planet X's FoC Dinobots.

Not sure what to think of this really . It's very basic looking almost unique toys predacon style , i know i don't like the robot legs something looks wrong there , it has my interest anyway.

torso too long....upper legs too short.
Dino mode does look sweet though.
I still prefer Planet-x

This is what Swoop reminds me of. The head's better, but the overall proportions and the whole "made to fit the alt mode" mentality is the same.

Hahaha Didn't know this was a different Swoop from the Planet X one until I came into this thread. Unknown third party means a fan/designer is making this himself and then pitching it to third parties to get it mass produced (3party mass production scale). Kind of like what Echo did with the FOC bruticus add on set.
hm... Guess this is the new model for 3Ps like X-Transbots,Zenith Forge, KFC?, Igears?, Guilty?
I don't see this coming from FP, or Maketoys, or MMC

yep, that Tetrajet is a great comparison. Torso is far too long. I like the alt mode, if they can sort out the bot, I'd be interested.

I'm in a similar boat, although I'm not married to strict G1 designs.
I'm not holding my breath with regards to TF4 either. So few ways for Hasbro to get it right, so many ways for Bay to piss us off. They're alt-modes will probably be Barney The Dinosaur and friends so they still blend in.
As for this particular figure, I think it's complete trash. Sorry.

Im not feeling the robot mode that much cause it doesnt Match up to mp grimlock. But the foc dinobots suck too. I mean dinosaurs on ancient cybertron millions of years before earth ? Really ? Just keep em G1 Hopefully toyworld does something better in 2014...

It's really hard to get a handle on your qualification of G1. You'll tolerate ToyWorld's Throttlebots even though they transform into SUVs instead of the traditional sports cars, but you don't like the FoC Dinobots which transform into exactly the same alt-modes as their G1 selves, but are less blocky.
Have you actually played FoC? I don't recall ever hearing anyone categorically state that the Dinobots became what they were in the game before dinosaurs even existed on Earth. In fact I think that contradicts the in-game explanation of why they have dinosaur alt-modes in the first place. And besides, what does it matter where and when the fiction uses such an alt-mode? They're still what they're meant to be.

Yeah its so much harder to believe than giant sentient robots created by a god to fight another god.

Well im not a gamer. I own a 1985 nintendo that i play like once a year. You know the G1 cartoon is my bible. I can give the neo throttlebots a pass because they really dont have any fiction from the cartoon. They show for a few seconds and thats it. But the dinobots just have too much strong background fiction in the cartoon for me to accept some video game stuff when im not a gamer. Ive stated before i dont really consider wfc or foc a true continuity. I know wfc did have a comic, but everything else is just a bunch of graphics to me. I dont even own the foc grimlock mold. With mp grimlock scaling so well with classics, who needs it ? But i admit having alot of wfc and foc figures because they fit my ancient cybertron shelf theme. But you wont find dinobots next to alpha trion, orion pax, dion, elita one, etc.

Hehe, yep, I figured you'd be among them X

.
This is one of the benefits of this third party competition IMO. Everybody seems to be getting what they want, be it Herc, Giant, FoC, G1, Classics, MP etc. Choices=good

.

Yeah, me too. It seems extremely G1 cartoon accurate to me. The bot mode is just kinda "blah", but so was his bot mode in the cartoon as I recall, so it's not a great departure from that. Hopefully they'll spice it up with some additional paint and mold details to keep him from looking too bland on the shelf next to other bots.
