Maybe there's also a KO of the RotF set that we're unaware of? I find it odd too.

Well, I can put this on my radar. Even though I replaced it with Uranos, I do still have a fondness for FP's upgraded Superion.

This add-on for a add-on is going to confuse so many buyers. Some will think there buying a KO of the First add-on with newer parts added.

I think the listing is pretty straight foward.

It was and still is a pretty good set. But this is still an odd choice for an add-on kit.

My best guess is that it's because the only third party Superion at the moment is TFC's which is a much larger scale than what many refer to as the 'FP/Maketoys' scale, meaning this outdated FP add-on is the only version even close to being in scale with their combiners so making add-ons for it provides an option to improve upon the only version of Superion which fits in scale (or at least comes close to it, though it's actually smaller, even than FP's own Bruticus add-on kit) with those aforementioned third party Superions.

edit: By the way, BBTS also has it up for preorder.

How exactly is this outdated?

Sure the Energon Superion came out in 2004. The 2nd release is only Four years old as newer buyers bought it in 2009 as a ROTF Target store exclusive.

It doesn't matter if 3rd party companies create add-ons & figures for HasTak figures that are Five to Ten years old. Because Fans don't throw TF toys out. Fans hold on to TF toys much longer than kids do.

Outdated as far as 2013-2014 TF combiners scale is concerned? HasTak did up the combiners scale to Five deluxes for FOC Bruticus in 20012. Then in 2013-1014 Hastak lowered the TF combiners scale back down to a much smaller scale. BH Abonimus & those Quadro Kreon Combiners are proof of this.

There is no set TF combiners scale for 3rd parties. So to say the ROTF Superion & ROTF Bruticus are using outdated smaller scale is a unreasearched statement. As most know FP likes to create smaller scale TF combiners like the Glacialbots,FP Menasor & the Crossfire & snow man add-on kits.

Outdated as far as plastic used, designs, sculpt, egineering? The older TF toys made before the economy went sour are the much superior toys. Due to Hastak doing less cutbacks, less short cuts, stronger plastic, bigger scale, stronger joints & the list goes on.

Really?

Thats only because TFC Superion cost buyers $600. This is Twenty times more than the $30 HasTak Superion cost.

Buyers got more bang for there buck with HasTak Superion. While buyers over paid for what they got in TFC Superion.

Price needs to factor in whether you want it to or not. you don't want price to factor into 3rd party purchases because you know you lose the thread debate discussion every time.

If were talking about worldwide buyers deciding which version is better or more dated. Than the HasTak Energon ROTF Superion wins by a land slide. due to more volume units of HasTaks Superion being made for a in reach low price. This means more buyers from the ages of Three to Sixty own the HasTak version. While less buyers own the TFC Superion due to it being a lower volume item that didn't reach mainstream. Kids don't consider TFC Superion superior or more dated because most don't even know it exist.

So this set appears to make Superion taller and wider with some stacked shoes, thigh extensions and some shoulder extensions also giving him a more G1 toy looking head replacement part! :-?

The photo shows Superion with what also looks like the Shapeways abdomen filler too. Could that just be the owners own purchased filler piece which they forgot to remove before taking photos?

I have an original Fansproject Arial Appendage Add On kit in grey but was thinking of picking up the recent KO Snowman white version to try and give my RotF set a little more G1-esque look.
Making Supes a little taller and broader would be quite good, putting him a little closer to the height of RotF/Fansproject Bruticus too.

Perhaps when these appear on Ebay from our friendly China based sellers a little cheaper then maybe I will pick a set up? ;)

As usual,You are getting your terms & definations all mixed up & wrong.

The term dated or outdated refers to something that is no longer in demand or something that is obsolete in design or function.

preferred size & preferred beauty have nothing to do with dated & outdated.

HasTak Superion is not outdated in sales or demand. Because its currently selling more volume units than TFC Superion on ebay & import sites combined.

Beauty & preferred size is in the eye of the beholder. The majority determine this not the minority. If something is beating something else in sales then it's inaccurate to call it the obsoloete product. more buyers right now are buying the HasTak superion compared to TFC Superion. Buyers just don't buy stuff for the sake of it,they buy stuff because they desire it,love it & want to own it.

3rd party toys are not meant to compete with HasTaks TF toys & make them outdated. due to these 3rd companies never being able to reach the numbers of buyers & mainstream like HasTak gets worldwide. something can only make something else outdated if it replaces it in more demand.it's very hard for a 3rd party TF toy to replace a Hastak TF toy in homes when less volume units are made thus less homes have replaced the HasTak version with the 3rd party version.

:michaelbay: I don't expect X to understand any of this. I wrote this for others because I know they'll understand it better.

AAAARGH for christ's sake will you 2 knock it off - why do so many threads have to incorporate your running battles? Why don't you both just PM each other and resolve this crap, it's RIDICULOUS.

On to this set, I will definitely look out for this as soon as it is stocked by a HK retailer, as the esteemed Robotmel has said. I think it makes this look a whole lot better. Ideally someone would find a way to split the Silverbolt torso section, as this combiner mainly suffers from being short on the body. I would love to see this as tall as Colossus. Still, this is a massive step in the right direction.

Im gonna let that one slide because I dont want to upset Lost Cybertronian. But as the owner of both superions, I can honestly say I prefer the adult collectible over the kids toy upgraded with a bunch of parts. I paid 165 for the grey version with the hasbro figures when the set was hot. Now that its getting less popular, im not sure its even worth adding to. I bought the energon versions of the areilbots because I wanted to give him a sort of G2 look. If they do a kit in those colors I might pop on it. But I doubt they will because they are marketing this Set to people who want the figure to be their G1 superion. Thats not what I use it for.

Yes, it does make Superion with FP add-on kit to fit the FP/MT scale.

I've been following this for almost 2 months since I saw it on a Chinese forum. And I bought my Superion+FP's addon afterwards. Now finally we could have an autobot's combiner that has the right scale!

I don't own any of of the Add-on kits for Energon Rotf Superion. I didn't think the set needed them. So,I won't be buying these add-on for add-on kits either.

I Would have bought the FP Add-on kits for Superion. If they came with Two extra basic figures like the FP Swindle & Blastoff kits came with.

Well, I would guess that Fansproject didn't think they were as necessary with the Aerialbots, what with them all being airplanes. It wasn't like with the Combaticons, where Swindle was otherwise stuck being a helicopter, and Blastoff a tank.

That isn't to say that in an ideal world, it wouldn't have been nice to have the Aerialbots all have molds unique from one another... but it definitely wasn't as necessary as it was with Bruticus, and it made for a more affordable upgrade.

As to the subject of this upgrade for the upgrade... I'd like to see pictures of how it compares to it's uni-upgraded equivalent, and/or some of the other Fansproject or Maketoys combiners. Just to get a clear idea how much extra height it adds.

Edit: Funny, I could swear that picture of him and Bruticus a few posts above mine wasn't there when I made my post... Maybe I'm just going crazy. Or the person who posted it is a time traveler who is messing with me.

In any case... Nice! I don't have Superion, or his Fansproject upgrade, but if I did, I'd have to get this. (Maybe someday, when I have more money, I can try and hunt them all down... If not, ah well...)

So youre among the 1% that like the ugly energon translucent claw hands and feet. I thought you were defending the FP add on set vs. Uranus. I had no clue you were defending the crappy hasbro set as a combiner without any add ons at all. I cant think of anyone else on here who even likes the energon molds without upgrades because theyre just too hasbroish. Im speechless...

After seeing the added height, I might reconsider buying this set. I dont know how good the red waist piece would look with the energon version colors though. It might stand out too much. I didnt notice the new head before. That looks good even if the antenna are a little to thick. It looks way better than that stupid hasbro head with the wings. Does anyone else feel the crotch/waist piece is a little bit large ? I keep getting this vision of red granny panties and I cant unsee it...
