New 3P company doing a MP.

Looks like it is meant to go with MP-08, but is only 8" tall and $200

Priced at $199,estimated to arrive May 2014 approx. 8 inches (from head to feet)
wingspan: approx. 18 inches (fully expanded), chromed wings.
sword/missiles: chromed
Product Number: BFR10000
Shipping Weight: 2.80 pounds

It looks like its meant to be in scale with HasTak 8.5 inch MP Grimlock. $200 seems kinda high. I might have been a buyer if it cost between $100 to $110.

Have to agree here.

I'd have gone maybe to $125, but $200 is out of control.

Nice! I wonder if FanToys is going to still make their own Swoop; I can't see that happening with this.

And, there's two of these threads. :) I wonder if a mod could combine them? Looks like they were posted within a couple minutes of each other...

This stuff is getting out of control so many companies making the same thing. Yea choices is good, definitely but with more choices I find myself buying less and less...

Maybe because I think hey they got two companies making this and I'm not in love with either I'll just wait until someone makes one I do love. haha guess it's a good thing after all.

Prototype does look pretty sweet.

I bought MP Grimlock for about 70 bucks at TRU because the dino mode kind of scales with classics for some G1 cartoon scenes. But Im no fan of MP scale to begin with, so Im not paying takara prices to finish the team. I would happily drop 500 for a set of voyager sized dinobots though that are all the same height.

I like how close to the 1985 toy it looks. its just a great reimagined toy. This will no doubt be the best new swoop toy ever created.

That is the same thing I think about him. I have my hasbro one with my generations figs and the Takara one by itself.

This swoop looks pretty damn good but that price tag... OUCH!

*Sees price and laughs* Not a chance. My Caelus is fine for my Classics shelf and only actual Masterpieces go in my MP collection.

People want MP Dinobots made from 3rd Party Groups and are somehow surprised when they charge 3rd party prices for them...

Yup >:oP

Thank you, kind sir (or people if it was a group effort)!

Well...you have to admit that this seems a little extreme, at least for Classics scale collectors. MP is a different story, I'll grant you. To me, this seems too big for Classics. So, the price becomes rather moot. Still.

That may be true, but the price of this guy is crazy, even by 3P standards. Scoria is what, 1 or 2 inches taller than MP-10 and also has the MP-08 booties for the same price as something that is smaller than MP-08. There must half the amount of plastic in this thing and it costs the same as Scoria, that is a great reason to pass because of the price.

Add to that Fans Toys having proven themselves with Quake Wave and are also doing Swoop at the larger size for, we can assume, the same price or a little less and these guys being completely new with no track record for quality.

Passing on DB-01 Air Strike just seems like the smart thing to do >:oP

Oh yeah, I admit it's rather pricey. IIRC FansToys Shockwave came in at about 160ish, so this is certainly a negative trend for MP 3rd Party figures, even their Scoria is about the same price per pound.

This guy is too early to know if it's really worth the price, but I don't collect MP figs anyways, so all the power to those that do.

18 inch wing span!!!? Now that peeked my interest. Plus it looks great in bot mode.
2 hunny is mighty steep. I'll wait for more details before i go totally gaga over it.

EDIT: what would really get my fired up is if his legs were die cast. I would think that weight would be necessary for a pair of wings that big. THEN i would start seriously considering dropping the cash for this one.

It's cool... but not $200 cool. I'd rather to continue to invest my time & energy in official MPs for the time being.

Hexatron was an MP scale figure and was $135.00. Plus it was a true feat of engineering. So MMC proved it can be done and make a profit without getting greedy. I'm not one to bitch about prices, but I never understood the price difference between Hasbro MP releases and Takara MP releases. Particularly MP Grimlock. The paint apps are virtually the same and they toss in a couple of stupid accessories nobody cares about and raise the price $100.00. Same thing goes for Takara MP Starscream vs. Hasbro MP Thundercracker. Same mold with roughly the same amount of paint apps but includes some stupid accessories and its $130.00 more for what ? I'm thinking the going rate for an official MP figure is $70.00. So wouldn't a fair price for a 3rd party MP figure be around say $125.00 ? Seems MP scale collectors are being screwed by Takara and 3rd parties in my opinion.

It's because Takara is based in Japan.

Takara don't screw us. Takara MPs are dirt cheap if you import it from Japan. It's US and Asian (nonJapan) base retailer that marks it up to the "retail" price we see here in the US. MP Wheeljack from BBTS 79.99 MP wheelJack from Anime-export $44.

This might be the right size to stand next to MP Grimlock, but that's too big for me. And $200 is just waaaaay too much.

79.99 for an MP autobot car is fair. But care to explain why a takara MP seeker is $200 when his hasbro equivalent sells for $70.00 at TRU ? Even takara MP soundwave was kind of pricy considering you only get laserbeak. Hasbro threw in four more cassettes and only raised the price about 30 bucks more than takara in TRU retail. And thats just takara. These MP dinobots that keep popping up all hit the $200 mark. Are they really any bigger or better engineered than Hexatron which sold for $135 ?
