Fanstoys Skyfire will continue even with Hasbro Leader Jetfire coming

From dalianjj @FansToys at TFW about their Skyfire.

dalianjj
We already knew that Leader jetfire in last year.
Our skyfire will be much much bigger and accurate to the toon. So don't worry.

daimchoc
dalianjj, does it mean that you're competing directly with Daca Toys?

dalianjj
I think this statement should be reversed.
We planed to do Mp skyfire long before them. The FT-04 was planned to be skyfire actually. and I even told him that we will do this before he announce that kronos project.
Anyway, let fans choose which one do they prefer more. We will have a pretty good G1 accurate skyfire at the end after all.

just want to put this somewhere.

This might still appeal to those who want a true MP scale skyfire. Hasbros will be leader which is perfect classics scale. I feel sorry for the other guy making skyfire though. He might as well call his losses and go back to the drawing board with another character.

Bigger is not always better.

Those 1980's TF cartoons are over 30 years old & were low quality even for there time period. So wanting to do extreme cartoon accurate toys is just :HEADHURTS: :BANG_HEAD:

Interesting.

I'm pumped for this Generations Skyfire.

Not at all excited for Daca Toys rendition. Let's see what FT puts out.

that's only Fifty percent of equation. The 2nd half,Has to be a decent sculpt that I like.

In the case of those Two Deca toys Skyfire's. Bigger is not better. Not if it means getting toys that look like cardboard milk cartoons pasted together.

This is referring to Fanstoy's Skyfire, which we've seen nothing of yet. Not Daca's

FT Skyfire isn't even competing with Leader Jetfire, one is for the Masterpiece line and one isn't.

I agree. I think fans will end up getting the figure in the line that they are collecting - Masterpiece or Generations.

So wait, let me get this strait:

  • We have DacaToys who's making a Jetfire and a Skyfire, both MP scale
  • We have this other company that announced their MP Jetfire a while before DacaToys
  • Hasbro is making a Generations Leader Jetfire/ Skyfire hybrid that might end up being about MP sized
  • Takara will likely release this themselves with their own deco
  • And we have FansToys making their own MP scale Skyfire

So this year we'll be getting 6 different large scale Jetfires/ Skyfires to choose from?

6 products, from 5 companies, all competing with themselves. Even if one of those isn't an MP, loads of collectors like mixing and matching their lines and using MPs ans Classics and vice versa, so yea, they're all competing with each other.
This is going to be interesting.

While I will be buying the Hasbro Leader Class Jetfire and I'm not terribly concerned with show accuracy for the figure because he's not really a character I just have to have, I can see why people would want a pure G1 design and that's where these 3rd party figures will make their money.

Most will save a lot of money by going with Hasbro's, so I can see at least one of these 3rd party figures doing terribly in terms of sales.

Just a bad year to be putting certain products out.

I'm going to say not all of them will come out.

what we know for sure will be
1)Hasbro
2)daca's Kronos? (the G1 looking one) their Titan is not 100% guarantee to be made.
3)Fanstoy their version of G1 Skyfire
4)Takara's deco (eventually)

the one that was shown a long time ago... I don't think anyone has heard anything about them in a while.

I thought the "other" company and Fanstoys are one in the same. Fanstoys announced Skyfire before Dacatoys. Is there another company that I am forgetting?

Why exactly are those Kronos Skyfire's being called MP TF toys. Because the company Daca says so? Because they have a lot of articulation? They literally look like cardboard milk cartoons pasted together. The Kronos Jetfires are also undersculpted. These toys simply don't deserve to be on the same shelves as the Superior HasTak MP TF toys.

3rd party toys that deserve the MP TF label are Hexatron & Quakewave.

The only thing stopping the 30th Jetfire from being in the same level as HasTak MP TF toys. Are the closed sculpted fist. All thats needed is for a 3rd party to create newer hands with poseable fingers to make it MP TF toy level.

I suspect 3rd parties will create extra red gear & guns for 30th Jetfire. So they might as well throw in newer hands with poseable fingers in the kit.

He says a lot of things =;

Hexatron has nothing to do with the MP line, just ask MMC >:oP

As for Quakewave, he was designed to be a part of the MP line, but I guess he should be called a Not-Masterpiece figure :-?

Me personally, I'll be getting the FT Skyfire for my MP collection and might end up grabbing Leader Jetfire to replace Classics Jetfire, but haven't decided on that yet.

This. The Daca figures are to far along now to not be released and with all the love FT are getting over on tfw2005 their Skyfire is going to be released. There are a shed-load of people saying that they are passing on Kronos and waiting for the FT version.

I'm pretty happy with my Classics Skyfire. But there's a good chance I'll replace him with the upcoming Leader version.

I have a feeling we'll be looking at different size classes anyway. Plus the new Leader Skyfire is a mix of toy and toon versions, so there's still room for people who want a pure toon Skyfire to get one. Good for the 3rd party guys who are still going to go through with theirs. I honestly think there's a market for 'em.

I buy 3rd Party Classics figures, but tend to skew towards official MPs. I only have room (more like $$$) for one or the other, and MPs are already so cash intensive, that I need to draw the line somewhere. [shrug]

I'm definitely picking up Leader Jetfire. My Classics Voyager Jetfire is on eBay right now!

I do love his voyager mold, though. I already have eHobby Dark Skyfire, and am thinking about picking up Universe Treadbolt to ensure that mold has a secure place in my collection.

I couldn't agree more. This mold is awesome! I ended up buying a couple extra to keep MIB because I thought they might make me a little cash some day. I also have one I bought on clearance waiting on my son to be old enough to give to him for a present. I think that time is this year for his birthday.

I also bought a couple of Treadbolts on clearance, intending to do a Macross/Robotech repaint some day.

It's going to be tough for me to like the Leader mold, though it looks awesome!

As far as these 3P, I like each for different reasons. I wish I had the cash to buy them all. Some twisted part of me would love to have a shelf of Skyfire/Jetfire to rival my OP shelf.

I love the Mold too! I recently brought the new asia exclusive one with the half deception logo. Also have a regular classics one and the Dark skyfire. With the new leader coming out I might have to get rid of one though, keep the other one on the IDW shelf (cause the classics version looks very IDW with the helmet on anyway) and use the new leader version on my season one classics display.

As for the 3P masterpieces I'll just wait till everyone comes out with their versions before I decide if i want any of it.

Sigh... I remember seeing Treadbolts/Jetfires on clearance when I was a teenager, but passed then because I wasn't at all as into the hobby as I am now. So it goes.

If you're looking to unload a spare Treadbolt, let me know! ;)

For first year characters I'd prefer to go official (getting Huff though), but anything that will be years away I just can't wait for if the 3P engineering and quality are right. As for space, I deal with that once the figures are in hand (still trying to figure out where to fit everything from my last PoL) and price isn't that big an issue for me considering the price of Takara MP's.

I see no reason to replace the 1.0 with the 30th version. I plan to keep both. As I think there both great toys.

Agreed Classics 1.0 jetfire makes a great IDW Jetfire/skyfire esp with the helmet. Looks like he came straight from the covers of "Storm Bringers"
