It looks a lot better then the first version. I always hated chinstraps. But what incentive do I have to buy a head for this body from the same guy twice ? If he is willing to give people who bought the first version a discount, that would be respectable. I would be a buyer at $15 just for the head. If he tries to pass it off as a set with new guns for the usual price, I’m gonna pass. It seems he has lost his drive to create sets for new characters. He just keeps on making more battle axes, Bumper/Hubcap heads and now another Darkwing. Why not make these instead…

• new head for Botcon Machine Wars Starscream
• new head for Botcon G2 Spark
• cartoon accurate guns for Cheetor and Ratrap
• G1 head for generations Orion Pax
• Cartoon accurate heads for Fansproject Stunticons

Why buy from the same guy twice? Well, for you it makes no sense. For people like me, who never got a shot at the first kit because his reputation wasn't as widespread, this is a godsend.

I bought mine directly from him at Botcon, but he had them for sale online for a month or more after. Where were you ? I'm sure this is great news for maybe 50-100 people who missed out. But for the 500 or more fans who bought his original Darkwing and Bump/Hub sets, the hype for these characters is long gone. His Megaplex sets were a home run. I bought both versions. But I don't think he is going to move 500 Darkwing more heads easily. I missed out on his Red Alert set and ended up paying $100 (with figure) for it on e-bay because I had to have it. Then the Beezleboss set came out and I felt stupid. The Beezleboss head looked better in my opinion. But I never bothered to buy it because the interest in upgrading Red Alert just wasn't there anymore.

I had no idea about this kit back then so I'll get it.

I like that head, it's a massive improvement over his first. It'll depend what else come with the kit that'll determine if I get it or not.

Really gives me a kick in the behind to go hunt down BotCon Dreadwind.

Might be cheaper for you to get one of the soon-to-be surplussed Classics Jetfies and repaint it yourself.

I have no idea where I was. Probably sitting in blissful ignorance?

I've never been to a Botcon, unfortunately, and I wasn't really a "serious" collector until just a couple years ago. I missed both the Darkwing & Skyfall sets, and would love updated, more refined versions.

I have an unused Skyfall Red head/guns. If you're interested, drop me a PM.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know where I can find a Hub Scout kit for RTS 'Bee?

Also, while we're OT, I've found Beelzeboss' Red Alert/Sideswipe kit to be sub-par (particularly the shoulder cannon. Any opinions on whether RF's kit is better?

The renderform kit is awesome. But for me the beezleboss kit is more cartoon accurate. What bugs me is that when people asked him to do another run of red alert sets, he said no because then they wouldnt be "exclusive". Now that hasbro is retooling heads for all their repaints, all of a sudden he wants to bring back old ideas. Theres still plenty of botcon figures that need new heads. But lately he doesnt seem to be interested in doing any of the ideas people suggest to him on these threads. Just the same old characters and battle axes in every color of the rainbow. Cmon Azim, I really like your work, but give us something new...

I would give him a pass on the Botcon sets. While it's probably the case that the people who buy Botcon sets are more likely to put down the money for Renderform's wares, you have to admit that the potential buying audience is much smaller. I think he was able to capitalize on Botcon Megaplex because there was widespread fan outcry and criticism over the lack of a new head. That's not the case with every Botcon figure.

You don't have to be happy about Darkwind/Skyfall 2.0 - but I sure am! :D

Also... anyone have a spare Hub Scout kit they want to sell me?

I missed out on the Darkwing set because I wasn't into the 3rd Party scene back then, nor did I have the base figure it went with. I remember about a year ago Azim did a poll to gauge interest in a new release, and I'm happy to say I voted yes to getting one. Now all that's left is to get invoiced and pay the man.

Re: new Renderform kits. There hasn't seemed to be a lot of offerings from RF lately. I'm hoping this means that he's behind the scenes working on soon to be mass-produced figures (we know his designs helped to create the Impossible Toys Tetras and Alicon). Or maybe just finding the right product to work on. Not all figures need upgrade kits, so might as well work on the one that will really grab our attention.

I was hoping 2014 would be the year he made a comeback with some new stuff that would blow our minds. I guess I was wrong. Now he is bringing back skyjack too. Nothing I need. I loved the tetra jets he helped design. I would kill to own a set in rainmaker colors. But I dont need repaints/retools of his old sets. Hasbros changing things up, so hes gotta do the same.

I missed out on his first version(read: stupidly didn't buy it when I saw him at that Botcon), so I'll definitely pick up this one.

No thanks to version 2. I bought the first version. I think the first version looks the best.

Nice - I put my order in pretty much as soon as the site went live last night, so I'm looking forward to getting those bonus translucent guns :)

Ok I have read these threads but I have never been motivated to actually join and post before today. I am a big supporter of Renderform and have had the chance to meet him a few times and he is a nice guy. But I must say he does listen to fans as there were demand for his new re tooled Darkwind and Skyfall kits. As he was not that well known at first and many people did miss the chance to get this fantastic sets.

The new ones give new fans the chance to get not the original but a new version as to not take away from the originals. I think the new kits show his growth as a designer and the fact it took so long for him to do shows he did not want to flood the market or devalue the originals.

He is compared to that fool Dr.Wu and they are not the same as one does all his work at home by hand. No one realizes the work he puts into his kits and at BOTCON 2013 I had the rare opportunity to see some kits being finished and I was amazed by what he does. So the new kits are awesome and shows how much his skills have improved and by not listening to fans do you mean not you? As I own everything he has done and i have no regrets and will buy other kits.

Also he has done work for Fansprojects,Impossibel Toys Corbot V and few others so when you have that many design credits then you can criticize this artist.

does the new head fix the problem with the screw? The original head had problems sealing both halves completely when screwed together.

The new head uses the Silverbolt and Skyfall style of fitting for the back and front halves, so you won't see the gap at all.
