Video Review of Perfect Effect PE-DX03 Warden

Warden is Perfect Effects Iteration of IDW Comics FortMax and also a somewhat upgrade set for your original Fortress Maximus or Reissue Maximus.

At a price of about $150 the figure is pricey, but that being said for a reasonable sized 'voyager' sized transforming robot toy and considering the build quality and parts count I think it is quite reasonable. Speaking of the build quality, on my copy of the figure it is impeccable and with paint apps to match. The inclusion of some strategically place diecast metal give the toy great balance and stability as well as a good weighty and high end feel.

Although two of the six modes include some parts-forming, the transformations are well done with good if not tight tolerances. Though I would treat these tolerances in the same way as fansprojects assaulter, they just need a little working.

The scout tank mode is a bit of a throw away, robot mode is fantastic and the super mode is also quite fun albeit a little 'busy'. The Gun tank mode is very parts formy and a little odd. But that being said I find it kinda cool and the fact that it uses all of the parts included and even has a spot for the headmaster pilot.
Then there is the Head mode! I love this mode equally with the base robot mode. The head looks great and suits Fortress Maximus perfectly, I think as we are all use to seeing the original head on Maximus the upgrade looks a little big. But in fact the new head is much better proportioned and even has a neck, you just have to get used to it. Also Wardens under slung cannon flips over and converts slightly to a new badass hand gun for the Fortress himself, as well as the remaining tank tracks and missile pod create a nice rear weapons system.

Overall Warden is a fantastic figure and in my opinion definitely worth picking up even if you do not own Fortress Maximus, But if you do its a very cool bonus!

I give it 4 and a half out of five lost prison wardens!

you B@$+@RD! Now I've seen that pic with the FOC Magnus sword standing in for the Master Sword, I want this even more. But I didn't jump on it when it was in stock and now it's gone. AND I still have trouble getting over the alt modes all being a bit rubbish. The head is cool, but I've no Fort Max to stick it on. arg!

ah well, thanks for the reviews anyway :)

oh I can't imagine the sale price was low enough to persuade me anyway. As for BBTS, I won't sign up for them, because then I could buy GI Joes as well.

Wait, what? for how much? I didn't jump on him when he came out (I rarely transform things once they're on the shelf, but ironically, a suitable alt mode is a major criteria for me, so), but would buy him on sale. Damn.

BBTS really needs to advertise those one-day sales better...

EDIT: Just realized you said the sale was for Fort Max, not Warden.

The official alt modes (except noggin mode) are rubbish, but there are so many fan modes!

Best figure of the year so far for me.

He's right on my desk, and I can swap modes, poses, gear, whatever.

Agreed, on all levels. The sheet weight of the figure is satisfying. Excellent use of die-cast.

sorry.. my post should have been more clear.

but yeah, i initially missed out on warden, and by that i mean the lowest prices from web stores. i hoed and hummed till it was to late. robot kingdom had him for 130, he sold out, as did most other retailers. bbts is one of the last i think to still have stock.

Ha, no worries! That's why reading comprehension is important. ;)

I just added Warden to my pile of loot on BBTS. The reviews of him are too outstanding to let him go out of stock, and I do have 2 weeks to reverse my decision.

I'll buy him in any color they put out and based on PE's track record, I would expect some repaints.

I don't know about repaints for this 1. I think it would have been announced by now, especially with the success of the figure. Also, I'm not very familiar with PE's list of figures, but is this the biggest they've ever produced?

I can see PE repainting this. They're repaint happy.

I've held off on this guy, but you know what? I'm convinced. I'll get him with my next paycheque. If I can find him. Seeing as this is PE, there's no real hurry IMO. They tend to keep their figures in circulation.

I believe it is. The next biggest are their Motobots (Arcee and Black Arachnea). All their others are quite tiny.

2. One Thread Per Product
In order to reduce the clutter that is the byproduct of so many different third party products being released, we will only have one thread per product. If there are reviews, concerns, anything - they should be posted in their appropriate topic. If you are looking for a certain thread, then please check the third party product release dates.
