I like how every 3p MP release is automatically around $200 now. Awesome

Bigger means more money. Just another advantage to sticking with classics scale.

i like that they're doing all the dinobots and they look amazing so far, but i'm a bit hesitant about the $200 price tag and the off-chance of takara eventually doing all 5 dinobots justice.
i'm smack in the middle of feral rex and warbotron, so i don't really have money for these right now

definitely. I "Want All The Robits!" as much as the next guy. Swoop is one where I'm fond enough of the character that I'll probably spend a little extra just because of who the toy represents. Honestly though, since single figures from a combiner team started costing $100 the pricing has gotten crazy. At least this does seem to be MP size, but that just makes me less likely to get it.

It does look pretty nice in colour, but still has dat beak in robot mode.

Refresh my memory, I know the red is G1 toy but what was the blue? Diaclone?

Blue is cartoon accurate.

Isn't blue cartoon accurate? (I was actually going to ask about the red version... 8-} )

(Mooncake posted about the colors while I was reading... )

These are now up at BBTS:

Blue toon accurate

Red toy accurate

Both have the same early bird pricing. This makes me wonder what Takara would have done with an MP of Swoop...red, blue? 2 releases? I wonder why they hadn't done this one already if they could have gotten two colors out of the mold... Image

Takara had a chance to grimlock in G2 colors and they slept on it...there was a time when I was interested in buying MP Dinobots for my classic shelf because they scaled perfectly. But then they dropped the ball.

Apparently FT Soar (not-Swoop)will come with two sets of wings (19" each!) with each Soar. One will be chrome and the other will be silver and flight stand.

With three 3P Dinobot choices and the ever-looming possibility of Takara tackling them at some point, I have no idea what I want to do with these.

I backed out on Scoria, there were enough nit-picky things I didn't like about it, when you consider the points stated above.

But if it is looking like they are actually planning all 5, not 4 + moon boots, and they have 2 on the board before the others even have 1, maybe I will jump back on the FT bandwagon.

Count me in for the cartoon accurate blue scheme. It's gonna be a tough sell for me to pick up red for those prices, nothing against the actual figure of course.

Those are some pretty nice extras! Still not interested in 3rd Party MPs, but Soar looks like a home run.

I think it's really awesome that FT makes him in two different colors, so everyone will be happy. I myself have pre-ordered the red because I'm more into the comic.

If,I had to buy any 3rd party G-1 Dinobots toys, It would be the FT Dinobots. Love the sculpts and colors.

High prices are the reasons, I won't buy them. Just don't think their worth $1,000 to get the set of Five. Had they been $90 each, Then I might have debatted buying them.

Don't need all my 3rd party TF toys to be in MP scale. These G-1 dinobots are not high on my homage buy list. So, I wouldn't have minded these be in Classics scale, To keep cost down.

Would have been more pleased with FT Swoop being deluxe scale and cost around $65. Slag,Sludge and snarl, I prefer being $74 Voyager scaled toys.

I already have a HasTak MP Grimlock at the Leader scale. Would have preferred the FT Grimlock been in Ultra scale and cost around $109.

If FT is asking $200 for each Dinobot. Then I think they need to add some diecast metal on the toys. In the areas where the 1985 toys had the diecast parts.

Hard to say no to diecast. I have put in for one of these in blue.

I believe they all will have diecast. Their Slag has diecast for sure.

I'm glad they're making a Grimlock. I'll be able to put the official version back in with Classics. :D

Yes, Slag is confirmed to have die-cast. Djanni (sp?), FanToys employee, referenced die-cast at TFW in Swoop as well (not sure how much or where it will be).

$200 may seem steep but it's on par for MP's of this size. MP22 is $280. If the quality is good, the articulation is excellent, and the aesthetics remain the same throughout the line - I will be going with FT Dinos.

Regarding the color version - I am leaning towards the red Swoop. I have been reading the comics and red seems to stick in my mind more. I just wish they would more gold like the blue version.
