How would you like a 3rd party Rodimus Prime to be designed like?

Just asking this question because HasTak has no Rodimus Prime toy in the Classics, Generations toy line. Also think the MP-09 is more failure than success
Just Think FP Protector was Mediocre and small. Protector was only 6.2 inches tall and short even for Voyager standards. Had Protector been a taller 7.0 to 7.5 inch Voyager Robot mode,I might have been more pleased.
I just don't think FP Protector and FP City commander have aged well and are both kinda obsolete Outdated by todays TF toy tech standards.
Thought the HasTak MP Rodimus was too thin and fragile looking. I like my MP TF toys more bulky and beefy looking like MP Grimlock.
My Two ideas of how I want a 3rd Party Rodimus Prime to be designed like are...
Idea One, It's basically taking the FP Protector toy idea but making it One or Two toy sizes bigger. Having the Hotrod sports car bot being Voyager or Ultra Scale. Having the car hook up to a bigger Trailer. Having the Trailer parts form a Ultra or leader scale Super Rodimus Prime robot mode. Trailer parts need to form more robot parts than the FP Protector did.
Idea Two,Is doing something similar to MP-22,KFC Citizen Stacks. This would be a bigger, bulkier & better version of the Titanium 6 inch Rodimus Prime toy. I want this to compete with MP-09,So It needs to be in the same leader scale.
Those are my ideas, What's yours.

Leave Protectors scale alone, his height is perfect. But I would like to see a version of rodimus tge same height as protector that without the FP pointy aesthetic. One that turns into rodimus without the armor gimmick. Just let the trsiler be a base, no robot parts and im good.

Eh, I'm fine with Protector.
When it comes to Classics figures, my preference (which I recognize is not universal) is for third party companies to only augment rather then replace for figures Hasbro's done. And Fansproject did that quite nicely with Protector.
Some may argue that, toy-wise, Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime had two separate toys in the G1 days and thus are just as deserving of two separate figures now, and Rodimus Prime should not just be an augmented Hot Rod. I'd concede that point, so I'd be a lot less annoyed by a wholly original third party Rodimus Prime then I would, say, a new-mold Ultra Magnus that didn't include Hasbro's white Classics Optimus Prime cab. But for my collection, I have my Rodimus and I'm happy with him!

I'd be interested in a Rodimus Prime that didn't rely on that pretty poor Hasbro Hot Rod inside it to work. Somewhere around Ultra-Leader size probably best, with the robot being around the size of Gen Springer. I'd be ok with the trailer just ending up as a base mode or something. Even happier if the bot inside were able to be a proper Hot Rod car. Ideally it'd be a smaller, classics scaled MP Rodimus with less fragile design. I don't even really need two bot modes, but a little height boost shouldn't be too hard to so. Could be engineered as part of transformation to the different vehicle modes too. Oh, and Hot Rod is magenta please?

I like Protector a lot. I actually do like that his trailer turns into Rodimus parts. I even like the height (I'm still using Classics voyager Prime as my main Prime; I feel like that height for a leader works best).
But I suppose I wouldn't mind a new version. And if it were to be based solely off my own preference, it'd be G1 animation based. MP or not available that's my own preference if I had to replace Protector.

I'm fine with Protector and still love the upgrade kit. FP did a great job with it.

I took an instant dislike to Protector so much so i sold it the same week .
I would have been happy with Hasbro retooling Generations Springer .

I'm fine with FP's for now, but I know there'll come a time that I'm ready to replace him similar to how I feel with FP's Ultra Magnus. I suspect the one thing keeping him in my good books is Renderform's gun that I got for him.
When that time comes, I want something G1-ish, with the trailer/canon set and a voyager-sized robot similar in height to Classics Prime or ToyWorld's Prime.

I'm on the protector loving train, regardless of my irritation against FP for their things always breaking. I honestly think that it's conceptually a lot better than to just have the same guy made bigger with a hollow trailer attachment. Aside form the ankle panels cracking, I'd say the only thing that bugs me about it is how it makes his shins way too long in comparison with his thighs.
If someone would make a proper MTMTE Rodimus though I wouldn't be against getting that either, but I'm not banking on it after seeing that lame Springer repaint concept.

I'd pick up a Lost Light Rodimus Primebut I'd still want a TFTM accurate one somewhere down the line. the MP was perfect apart from being huge, hugely expensive and broken.

I also bought the FP Protector and I didn't like it. Eventually I got rid of it. I didn't like that only 15% of the trailer got used as armor robot parts. I thought all of the Armor parts looked cheap and ugly only the 1.0 Rodimus deluxe toy.
Personally I felt the 1.0 Deluxe Rodimus toy was a bad candidate to use for trailer armor. As the 1.0 Rodimus toy was only 5.2 inches tall in robot mode. The barely 15% FP Trailer armor parts only bumped the Robot mode up by barely One inch. Making the FP Protector super robot mode around 6.2 inches tall in robot mode. Sorry 6.2 barely makes the Voyager scale height and is considered a very short Voyager height toy.
FP,I felt did a much better job with City Commander. At least there more trailer parts got used for the super robot mode.
If I were to settle for a tiny 6.2 inch tall Classics Rodimus on my display shelves. Then I'd rather settle for the Titanium 6 inch Rodimus Prime.

Tsutsukakushi, can't you just say it was a bit too small for your tastes? Why the need for decimals for a unit of measure that traditionally isn't measured in decimals anyway?
At any rate, I actually like the Titanium Rodimus. I thought it was a clever way to transform "Trailer" and bot in one solid transformation. (I think Rodimus was some sort of single unit, cybertronian straight truck or camper or something. I know at least one time in the cartoon he turned like a semi, but the toy never really had that feeling.) I could get behind a similar transformation design.

I have protector and I gotta say I really don't like it. The head doesn't look like the Rodimus I remember at all. I do love the toy in alt mode though. Size is fine, I'll would want a MTMTE Rodimus.
MP Rodimus is awesome.

I always wished that MP-09 was designed like this Titanium Rodimus Prime toy. MP-22 is what I wanted MP-09 to be like.

MP Rodimus is awesome.
Did you get the Dr. Wu face upgrade for Protector ? It really makes a world of difference.

I saw it but still looks bad to me.. =/ those early FP add on head sculpts are actually pretty bad imo. City commander, Protector and while I like the bruticus head it really doesn't look much like G1 bruticus.

I agree with your thoughts on the scale. All I need is the MTMTE Rodimus at Protector's scale. No trailer, just IDW's Hot Rod gone Rodimus. Throw in a couple stars and a matrix necklace as the accessories.
I do really like Protector still, though.

I think a blown-up version of Titanium Rodimus would work very well, with a few tweaks to make it more accurate.

I still like Protector and I'm not really looking to replace him, but at the same time I wouldn't hate new versions of Hot Rod/Rodimus if they happened.
I'd like to see them as 2 separate figures if they were to be redone.
The Hotrod into Rodimus combining gimmick has been done, so I think I'd want to see it handled the other way this time.
In my perfect world these would be Hasbro releases though. I'm not sure I'd pay 3P prices to replace Protector.

There's always a chance we'll see the Springer mold repurposed as Rodimus in the Cloud line. Then again, the original solicitations for Cloud featured the FOC Seeker design for Starscream, which we all know they threw out in favor of the Doubledealer retool.
I have the clear Sons of Cybertron & Protector sets, with the Dr Wu faceplates. There was a time I tried to sell it, but no one wanted it for my asking price (or even less), so I decided to keep it.
A lot of the issues people have with the FP aesthetic are ameliorated by the clear plastic - getting to see the inner lines and other internal details really helps the upgrade "shine" in my opinion. Especially with the DMY upgrade for the clear Optimus that Hot Rod is paired with, I think I'll keep him to use in some display or other, whether or not we get a new Rodimus figure down the line.

For me, I think the Springer recolor into Hotrod just doesn't work. I hope that is not the "official" answer for Rodimus Prime.
That mold is just too associated with the Springer character. Especially considering you'd likely want the two guys near each other on a shelf.

I agree. Even if it is released, I don't think it will be considered the "official" answer. Takara is all over the place with these cloud releases.

IMO, Masterpiece and Classics with Fansproject Protector armor is good enough for me.

I also agree,Think that 30th Springer mold is a terrible choice for a Rodimus repaint. HasTak's way of coloring sports cars-bot molds into any 1980's TF sports cars bots they choose is upsetting and lazy.
This Cloud Rodimus repaint takes care of the Hotrod or intermediate Rodimus character toy. Their is still no HasTak toy released for the Classics Generations Rodimus Prime.
