Leo Prime is a fantastic figure. This is a fun and interesting update to the classic Lio Convoy. This takes the Alpha Trion mold and makes it a must have figure. If you're a fan of the classic Japanese Beast Wars line definitely pick this figure up.

I'm not usually one for going Takara as I always find them so very, very expensive by comparison. HOWEVER, I have been really stoked about this guy. Wow, he really doesn't disappoint. I feel like he might be the definitive CHUG Lio Convoy, would you agree?

Its not like he has a lot of competition for that title. He will be the best chug lio convoy until a better one comes along.

I can't say that I agree with you there in the least. There have been a few Lio Prime figures, none of which have I handled personally. Plus, just because a new one comes doesn't at all mean it is better. Case in point, Classics Prowl versus Combiner Wars. So, I stand by my comment. Who knows, maybe the Target exclusive version is better. All I know about that one is how awesome the lion mode is.

And I disagree on that Prowl. The combiner Wars version is much nicer than the calssics.

I mean come on, the headsculpt alone speaks wonders

Also, I DIDNT say that the next one will be better. I said he is the best we have for now until a better one comes along. That better one might not be the next one but the one after that or after that.

My bad, looking back, I did misread. Still, with other versions of Lio Prime I dunno but some of them are better than this one. I think this one looks amazing, but is it definitive CHUG? That I don't know. Hence why I asked. As for Prowl, couldn't disagree more. I hate that head and he doesn't have his iconic and necessary door wings, or as much articulation. It just isn't Prowl-ish enough. Of course, that said, I like that we have options for different tastes and usually my opinions vary widely from the masses. Case in point again, the new Blitzwing looks absolutely awful, except plane mode. That does rock. I know my views are...unique. But in this particular case, Chuck is the only person I have yet seen have the new Lio Prime in hand, so I figured who better to ask if he currently stands as the definitive or am I building him up in my mind to be better than what he really is?
......I like CW Skylynx...lol...there just might not be any hope for me in terms of falling in line with popular views lol.

Oh I hear you, and I am glad you asked, hence why I wanted to get in on the conversation too :)

As for definitive CHUG, it depends on what you want in your CHUG line. if you want a new rendition that strays from the original, then I think this is fine. But if you want something that is closer to the original then the lion head should only be on one of the shoulders. I am buying this toy regardless, it just looks great!

I only have two other Leo Prime figures, the Universe legends repaint of Leobreaker and the Robot Masters Lio Convoy. Neither is a fair comparison to this figure.

Thanks to you both for the input. I always think back to figures I wanted and got disappointed by over building them up too much in my mind.. Most recently, Thunderhoof, who I wanted to like but just couldn't. I have skipped other Lio Primes waiting for one that seemed right. While I know the whole head isn't on one shoulder, I didn't want to think I was buying the hype for a figure that's just meh. I feel better about my enthusiasm now. Much obliged.
