Kaiju Kaos: The Soundtrack, Volume 2 Kickstarter - Hydrophone toy

I'll just mention this here, since it's third party Transformers related.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/992965371/kaiju-kaos-the-soundtrack-volume-2

The Kaiju Kaos tabletop game has a CD of music that you can use as background music when you play the game. Although it's a Kickstarter for a music CD, there are add-on's for the campaign that are the game rules and miniatures. There are several 3PTF connections here.

1. Kaiju Kaos has rules for BMOG and Play With This Too characters in it's game (you can even buy the BMOG game packs as add-ons to the CD!)
2. It has rules coming out for Iron Factory and Perfect Effect characters in the game.
3. One of the tracks on the CD was done specifically with Transformers style music in mind...
4. One of their stretch goals is a simple figure based on a Slagacon comic character.

Here is the latest update:

Today we take a look at the song "Positarians of Servos". "Positarians of Servos" by Stratos is track #15 on Kaiju Kaos: The Soundtrack, Volume 2. This song is the theme for the heroic transforming robots, the Positarians, who eventually make their way to Earth and join in the conflict against the growing kaiju threat. This video features comic book artwork taken from the three issues of the Slagacon convention comic - used with permission.

When I started writing Kaiju Kaos: The Miniatures Game in 2010, I decided to pull ideas from everything I loved as a geek/nerd/child of the 80s. In addition to giant monsters, werewolves, genetic mutations gone wrong, and animated scarecrows, I wanted giant transforming robots in the mix. Knowing I'd never be able to actually afford a license with Hasbro, I looked to the fan community and 3rd Party manufacturers.

The first I went to was Slagacon... a Midwest Transformers Fan Convention that had a cast of awesome original characters that appeared in their own comic books/convention guides. Slagacon may be gone but the characters live on! Hydrophone, our first Stretch Goal, is one of those characters. The others are featured in the video above.

So while these may technically be about as technically advanced as a G1 Decoy, it will be a low cost 3PTF figure inspired by a Slagacon comic character, which is fun if you are a fan.

Here is a sample of the music.

Absolutely no interest in RPGs, but this sounds really good. I'll get it off of amazon once it's out.

I'm not really interested in the CD, but I'm getting one just to get the Hydrophone figure and RPG at a low cost. You can buy the RPG as either a PDF or in print online now. The author, Bryan Bailey has an online store. Some suppliments can even be downloaded as PDFs for free.

Tabletop Miniature Games aren't RPGS. :P

Yeah, I'm more interested in maybe getting the BMOG stats and maybe some of the stretch goals than I am the actual thing being Kickstarted.

Was wondering what this kickstarter was all about. So I clicked on the link and read the stuff on the KS page.

Am I right in guessing that this is a game or is it music? or is it both.

If it's a game, Is it similar to the Skylanders video game. Where each character toy you buy has a interactive chip inside. that gets used to unlock the character in the game?

Or are the mini figures just stand alone toys that have no chips inside. That don't interact with the game.

Can this game be played only on the computer? Or can it also be played on multiple game consoles from Nintendo, Sony, X Cube

Am I reading correctly that buyers will not get a CD or game disk. Instead they might get a email with a download. Where buyers need to download the game in order to play it on their computer.

Since this is a download. Wondering if this can get downloaded on to buyers Smart phones or tablets?

The Kickstarter is to make a CD of music designed to play in the background as atmosphere when you play the game. The add-ons and stretch goals include some BMOG related stuff and Slagacon Transformers comic characters, basically like Decoys of fan-made Transformers characters.

The game is not as high tech as Skylanders. It's basically a tabletop board game played with dice, pencils and little figures. No computer or gaming system needed.

The author already added support for BMOG toys in the game as pieces. In one of the updates on the KS page the author also mentioned he's gotten permission to make game rules for Perfect Effect and Iron Factory toys, which allow you to use those toys as pieces in the game.

Yes, you can also get the music in MP3 format if you don't want a CD.

I agree this kickstarter does not belong here. It has almost nothing to do with Transformers. Whats next ? a kickstarter for Fansproject pajamas ? Also having experience in home music production and burning CD's with custom labels, I truly believe this project can be funded and turn a profit through personal funds. Using a kickstarter to raise $500 is lazy, cheap, and shows no passion from the designer to spend a dime on their own creation. Whats $500 ? A weeks paycheck ? 2 weeks if the guy works fast food ? What a cheap ass. This is the reason I refer to kickstarter as "Pimpstarter".

It is a music CD and tabletop combat game play with third party Transformers from BMOG, Iron Factory and Perfect Effect as the pieces. The author got permission from those companies to use their toys as the game pieces, so it's official and sanctioned by those companies, which is why I posted it here. No different from talking about a Transformers game in the Transformers forums.

Any opinions about where this thread belongs should be addressed to the mods in private messages and reports, not posted here. Thanks.

To save us from certain "outspoken" people preaching about this being in the wrong place, I've bumped it up a sub-forum.

Please remain on topic.

You can order pieces as part of the Kickstarter, which include Hydrophone and some home made characters, and you can ALSO use the Perfect Effect, BMOG and Iron Factory toys as game pieces.

You are probably not familiar with tabletop combat, but there is no board, you use the table, and there are no set pieces, you choose your piece when you play, and how you play changes with what pieces each player picks.

To play the game you need a table, the rule book, some dice, paper, pencils, and at least one piece for each player. Those pieces can be those decoy-like figures in the Kickstarter (some of which are based on third party Transformers, others are original) or BMOGs, and they are currently adding the rules to add Perfect Effect and Iron Factory toys.

Honestly I didn't even know traditional role playing games even existed anymore. I thought they got replaced by video games in the 90's. I played Dungeons and Dragons one time as a kid in the 80's. a bunch of guys sitting around a table reading weird stuff out of a book. Thinking back, I can only imagine it would have been more exciting if we were drunk.

Well, thank goodness not everyone is ignorant of gaming. Some of us still have libraries of rule books, treasure chests full of dice and a fine selection of the best pencils and clip boards.

The fact that I can mix in my BMOG and Iron Factory toys as pieces is just a bonus.
