I'll start with my recent haul.

Image

Unboxing Hatchune Miku, this is what we get:

Image

Right of the bat I can see that "G1" Nendos have a different stand and the faces are not made the same way. The neck part and the face part are in ONE piece while newer Nendos separated them. Making face-swapping less convenient when an old figure is involved.

Image

Overall, Hatchune is adorable and is quite fun.

Next, Queen's Blade Reina/Leina:

I forgot to take the unboxing picture but eh, have some chibi buts and a look at a "G1" neck/face.

Image

I don't like that "G1" stand because it dosent allow much posing. Also, one of her belt thing kept falling off so I ended up super-gluing it. Sacrilege, I know. Reina is not really a good Nendo, but for 800JPY, it's all right.

Image

Next, Queen's Blade Alleyne, the last of my "G1" Nendo:

Image

Although from the same Gen as Reina, Alleyne is much better. She feel more solid and her "G1" stand lock only one leg in place, giving more posing options. I really like that tomato elf.

Image

Onward to the modern era of Nendoroid with Strike Witches Miyafuji Yoshiko.
I never watched the series, but a WW2 fighter plane Gijinka? Why not? She also come with lots of parts.

Image

In non combat mode, Yoshiko is cute as a button. However, it's a bit too plain.

Image

Building her plane legs was quite troublesome. Those parts are tiny and pop of easily with my clumsy big fingers. The overall look is bad-ass though. Also, incombat mode, the girls have animal ears and tails that sprout from their body. Welcolme to anime logic!

Image

Finally, last but not least is Kantai Collection's Shimakaze. The only Nendo I had to pay full normal price from the lot. There's TONS of stuff coming with her, including her cannons crew. Shimakaze is a gijinka of a WW2 destroyer.

Image

Nendos have LOTS of tiny parts that split up in even more tiny parts. See the little arms on the little cannon dudes? Those pop off if you are not careful. Also, I derped and broke a ball joint of the tiny stand arm to Shimakaze's right. The one that plug into one cannon guy. The thing was tight as hell and I tried to force a rotation. Oh well, it can still rest on it and won't fall off.

Anyway, Shimakaze is still pretty amazing, the stand having a special conection with her armaments backpack.

Image

Anime logic dictate that is a boat girl get hit by bullets, explosions, and canon fire, only her clothes rip off. The more sexy the suit, the more armor you got! Even the little dudes have a damaged option. Also, having that spare body allow me to have some fun with Tanya.

Image

Overall, Shimakaze is pretty amazing and I just LOVE that she come with cute little murder machines.

And now, my collection so far:

Shown in the non TF haul thread, Tanya Degurechaff from Yooujo Seki and Umaru Chan from Himouto Umaru Chan.

Image

Shimakaze and Yoshiko go well together despite not being from te same universe:

Image
Lol @ photobombing anime butt!

And finally, Hatchune Miku and the Queen's Blade girls.

Image

Got any Nendoroids? Wanna make some photo-comics with Nendos? Please do share!

;)^

One of my favorite animations:

Image

I don't have time to take pictures of my Nendos, but I can at least make a list. I'm more of a figma fan, I've got over 160 of those, but I do like to buy Nendos that look "right" in SD form.

Nendoroid #042 - Hachune Miku. She's part of my larger Hatsune Miku collection (16 figures)
Image

Nendoroid #050 Fate/Tiger Colosseum - Saber Lion. Part of my Type-Moon collection (28 figures)
Image

Nendoroid #234 Shin Megami Tensei - Jack Frost. Part of my overall Persona collection (19 figures)
Image

Nendoroid #256 Persona 4 - Teddy/Kuma. Specifically for my Persona 4 collection (9 figures)
Image

Nendoroid #304b Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life - Rin and Wooser - Otegaru ver.
Nendoroid #319b Wooser's Hand-to-Mouth Life - Ren and Darth Wooser - Otegaru ver. Just because. The show was fun and these basic "b" releases were way cheaper than the standard releases.
Image

Nendoroid #413 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - Link. For my Nintendo collection (Not sure how many figures)
Image

Nendoroid Petit trading figure from Tsukihime - Neko Arc. Another one for the Type-Moon collection. She is surprisingly articulated for a Petit.
Image

I also have this stand I got as a consolation prize for entering a Good Smile Company photo contest.
Image

Hope all of those pictures worked...

Emerge, that's FABULOUS!

Also, dat Jack Frost... Too bad it's unbuyable nowadays.

Yeah, Jack Frost really should get a re-release with all of the upcoming Persona figma coming soon. They really need to release Black Frost already after this cruel prototype teaser from many years ago. :(

Speaking of unbuyables, I sent an inquiry to Good Smile Company to re-release Kuroki Tomoko.

She's now between 150$ to 200$ on Ebay. :BANG_HEAD:

Mandarake, my friend! Mandarake is the place to go!

Well, I think. Haven't checked lately but it's gotta be better than eBay.

As for my own Nendos, I have precisely one. Kill la Kill's Ryuuko. I'm not generally into SD figures, nothing against them and I kinda want more but they aren't hugely "my thing". I will say though, Ryuuko is one of the nicest built figures I own. The paint on her massive noggin is especially good, and she's very expressive for such a limited figure. Her head feels very unusual though- absolutely in no way bad, but almost like it's made of vinyl rather than regular plastic. That said she's definitely the genuine article and she doesn't feel in any way lacking, so it's probably just the peculiarities such a large hollow piece needs to stay strong whilst also not snapping her neck.

The smiles on the joints are great as well.

Other Nendos I want include Sakura Kinomoto, most of the BRS Nendos and maybe some of the Madoka characters? There's also Cu-Poches, which whilst not the same as Nendos are quite similar.

Trust me, all of my Nendos safe Tanya and Umaru came from Mandrake. Tomoko being sold out for aeons. Still on Mandrake, the Puela Magica Madoka characters are pretty affordable. I'd take a Mami and have fun popping her head off!

A lot of people were buying those Tomoko Nendos just for the faces, not a huge surprise she's become so rare.

Image

At the time of release she was just over $30 which wasn't a terrible price if you don't care about the character and just want the faces and accessories.

Showing off some new stuff!

To begin, let me talk about the surprise hit anime Kemono Friends. It was based on a Japan exclusive mobile game. A mobile game that shut down early due to unpopularity. However, the anime went through anyway. It had everything against it. Low budget, a limited staff, and tight production schedule. Plus it was all CGI, a bane in the anime community. However, the staff who made the anime had PASSION and HEART. And it shown greatly.

We end up with a heartwarming anime about cute animal-girls going on adventures and making friends. It appear very plain and very childish at first. But as the episodes go on we see that the Kemono universe is MUCH deeper than it initially appear. The characters do grow and you can't help but love every single one of them.

It's so good and had such an impact that it got quite the cult following. Plus some inside company drama between Kadokawa, the anime producing company, and Kemono Friends director, making a second season unfortunately improbable.

Anyway, have a review:

Of course, the show's popularity naturally lead to merchs. Notably some Nendoroids! So here's Serval and Kaban, the two MCs of the show. Plus a savannah backdrop from Diorama Mansion:
Image

Here's the content of both boxes:
Image

Serval is adorable and I love the "anime lines" background that she come with:
Image

"Sugoi!"
Image
The background is simple to build and it come with 3 parts that you can built, mix, and match however you want. But it's expensive and quite small. A set is practically good for only one Nendo unfortunately. I'll need to order a second set.

Kaban is very lovely as well:
Image

"Ah! Don't eat me!"
Image

I love that display. Only thing missing is another set of savannah.

I just can't get myself interested in the dioramas. I don't like the beveled edges, I wish they were flat so you didn't have big gaps when sticking more than one together. If only they had invested more into di:stages. :(

Image

Nope, just can't get over those gaps.

This on the other hand is much more appealing.

Image

That's a Collection Base EX (around 2,200JPY to 3,000JPY depending on where you buy) with a Diorama Sheet Pro EX - Autumn A1 reusable backdrop (a usually a little over 500JPY, the non pro versions come with two backdrops for the same price). They're a little over 8" tall and 14" wide and the backdrops are held on with magnets. They seem really cool, but they don't stay in stock very long. :( There's also an EX-MG set that has a steel base for things compatible with them (like the new Nendoroid Dolls with magnetic feet).

Those BG of yours look very nice. But I get the gaps for the Diorama Mansions. It's for the modular compatibility. I consider those gaps like studs on lego bricks.

Yeah, there's a few Nendos that have been given the "Super Movable" treatment, like this Saber.

Image

Also that Golden Darkness was a weird thing to bring up in a Nendoroid thread. I prefer 1/12 scale so I've got the SHF version which I think looks better and more iconic of the character.

Not actually a Nendoroid, but sort of relevant- I went to a convention on Saturday and now I have this precious little thing.
Image
Cu-Poche Rei Ayanami. She's absolutely adorable, in some ways I actually like the style better than the Nendoroid look. I will say that between her and my Nendo Ryuuko, the Nendo feels slightly better made, but I do like the better articulation and the magnetic base on Rei. The jury's still out on which I think is the better line (I only have one of each) but I will say that Cu-Poches feel like a worthy companion line to Nendoroids.

Incidentally I looked high and low for the Little Witch Academia Nendos at the con (I want them, Sucy especially), but alas, no such luck.

Also, why gave up on Nendos? Choices must be made because space and money are finite things.
