Zoids is coming back west

It's been a long time since we've seen Zoids in stores outside of Japan, but it looks like Hasbro is bringing them back! In a recent Worldscreen TVKids guide there was an ad for Hasbro's MIPCOM booth which features a panel advertising Zoids. The Zoid in question is Wild Liger. The show looks to be a little more kid friendly, but I'm thinking the kits will still be good.

Oooooh, Zoids! I had the little Brachiosaurus (the dark red and gunmetal one) as a nipper. I love the designs for them, I wouldn't mind taking another stab at building (and maybe even painting) one.

Some of the zoids look interesting but not liking the lack of cockpits (piolts now ride on the outside of them rather than in them for the most part). Will be interesting to see if the new cartoon is serious as chaotic century, a glorious cheese fest of zoids zero or somewhere inbetween.

From the clips I've seen it's going to be goofy, more like Beyblade or any number of other toy-centric anime with lots of kids riding their little Zoids. The kits themselves look fine, the seats are easy to ignore and the kids are molded in clear plastic so they're entirely optional.

Now that these have been out for a while, what's the opinion on them? They look like they'd be fun to paint up, and I really like the designs on them.

Havent bought any yet nor plan to, from what I've seen they have are simplified (the plating/armor just snaps onto the the solid body piece/frame, rather than building the body up around the motor/putting legs/arms on etc)) so they are no longer like the old kits for the most part. They all have Action gimmicks similar to the chaos century action figure zoids.

The cartoons not that great either (enjoyed two of the episodes so far, it gets a bit darker as the series goes along -think I'm 8 episodes in, and whilst I like the humor some of it is very eastern/bizarre/alienating).

Zoids wild getting western release, hasbro is ignoring the literally generation 2 zoids toys and saying this is the third generation classing the later chaotic century etc as the 2nd generation. Oh well, more toys is a good thing :)
