It really does seem like a total evil villain move, too. It even goes beyond simple greed. Importing more macross items, even if they were bastardized into the Robotech universe, would be pure money. Toynami just never lived up to Yamato and Bandai in terms of toys.

Yeah, HG is pretty much trying to get into a pissing match with BW for ego's sake.

As for Toynami, their stuff were absolute crap. I've heard of Alpha's with crumbly joints right out of the box. I don't know if they ever made Ride Armors/Cyclones, but I'd be afraid to buy one if Toynami's name is on the box.

I used to think their Masterpiece series was made of pure awesome, if a little delicate. Then I discovered Yamato and promptly sold all the toynami cap off.

I'm glad I only started collecting after Yamato began producing the V2 VF-1's. Very fortunate to have started collecting during what can be considered the golden age of Macross figures. I think I bought well over a dozen Valks from Yamato. A shame I missed out on the Super Ostrich; was hoping they'd release a version with non-crumbly shoulder joints, but they went under before that could happen. It remains on of my holy grails. Just not worth evilbay prices--to me, nothing is worth paying scalpers for.

I know a lot of people praise Arcadia for "keeping the flames alive", but I just can't justify the kind of prices they're asking for their products.

Arcadia is just Yamato under a new corporate name after they went bankrupt. (also managed to get a free shoulder replacement kit before the "Fall"

Toynami did make Cyclones, at least one. When I get around to opening it I'll let you know, I think it's 10 years old now.

Question, did Bandai ever make fast packs for the reissue 1/55 Valks they did for the 30th anniversary?

Yeah, but just with the bridge, from what I can tell. It looks similar to the one we got from Matchbox all those years ago (sitting on my shelf) but not the same. I can't tell if it is a different size, but there are definite changes in Daedalus and Prometheus. A few other details, like the smaller gun turrets, look to be a little more defined too.

Not that there's much of a market for it, but I'd love for some 3rd party to make Armor 01 and Armor 10 that could fit on the arms of the old Matchbox toy and create a Macross movie feel...

I think it was a lot bigger, like twice the size. I'll try to pull it down over the weekend and put a tape measure to it.

If somebody is going to do the SDF-1 it has to be done right, USS Flagg size.

But, I'm pretty sure I would be single again if I bought one at that size....

Not a problem, you do have the internet.

Not sure I asked but for the 30th anniversary reissues of the 1/55th Valks did Bandai release fast packs?

There was on SDF-1 released by the defunct Yamato. It was the size of approximately that of Fortmax. Sold out like hotcakes would you believe?

 Cripes, how much did that cost? I've been looking at some of the Macross movie versions which have been prohibitively expensive for me, and just at the 7-8" size area, if I remember correctly. One the size of Fort Max might have cost me my children...

The old Matchbox SDF-1 is 15" (38 cm) tall in "robot" mode, and 15 1/2" (39.5 cm) in "cruiser" mode. 'Tis about a perfect size, in my still-want-to-remain-married opinion.

I think you did ask, but I don't know. I don't remember seeing them, but I may not have been seeking things like this out at the time...

I didn't realize that the new Hi-Metal line is different from the one that's several years old. I'll have to check my VF-1S, but I think the transformations are the same, and mine doesn't have the joined wing piece.

These are my two Hi Metal R's. You have to attach the wing pieces first and snap. Permanent lock.

Based on the old images from amiami (3rd image set), they look the same.

I almost got this (already sold out like that's news 8-} ) but being a limited release this coming April 2016, it was more expensive than the Hikaru mass release ( like I even doubt the word I'm using fits this for a "mass release", that one evaporated into thin air faster than an ice cube evaporates in Death Valley) :BANG_HEAD: version by 2000 Yen.

Good thing I got lucky twice with hobbysearch's waiting list system and scored the armored version and the DYRL Strike Valkyrie.

I have the original VF-1S Strike. Like I said I have to check but I think the only difference is the "cleaner" joined wing piece that can replace the standard wings in Batroid mode.
