The target audience of the books =/= the target audience of the cartoon.

Agreed. Also, the books are rubbish.
I'll never tire of saying that. :D

There's also the notion that the cartoon made effort to recall events specifically taken from the first book in the first season finale. One would be hard-pressed to find "An archival data clerk named Orion Pax befriends a gladiator named Megatronus who shortens his name to 'Megatron' prior to a meeting the two have with the High Council, in which Orion's words are preferred over Megatron's and Orion gaining their favor leads to the fall of his and Megatron's friendship and the start of war. Then OP goes to the Core of Cybertron and gets the Matrix later on," in any other TF media outside of the first book (or the video game for that last part).

It's all likely coming from the Binder, anyway. ;)

But again, they could throw as many direct references and tie them in a neat little bow to those books, but the target audience of the cartoon really aren't going to care because the majority will not have read them.

Hasbro, despite saying "aligned continuity! yay!" haven't made much of an effort to make sure that happens given the number of differences people are already pointing out.

To be honest, when I first saw Optimus come flying in and landing in the fortress, I thought for sure that Smokescreen was riding on his back. But, I guess it was just the jetpack detail instead.

That would have been priceless if they did that and a Folwer comment about it, best episode ever haha

Great episode and great to have Prime back, I think the tide is turning in the 'bots favour. However what happened to the star saber?

So who's chain gun of doom is better Optimus's, Ryhnox's, or Skyquake's?

You can briefly see it in the "trophy room" on the Nemesis when Smokescreen goes for the Forge.

The problem to me is that they don't advertise the existence of the books. I pretty much only know about them through the boards here, I've only rarely seen mention of them in any Hasbro outlet, and that's been entirely in press releases that kids won't see or care about.

Well, as a general rule of thumb, Hasbro makes more money from the TV shows and the video games set in the Aligned continuity, so they DID put some effort into advertising those in ways they never would for novels.

I mean, I wouldn't know the Bayverse movies had novel adaptations if I hadn't read it on TFWiki.

Certainly the TV shows make more money, but the books could earn more money than they do presently if people knew they existed.

Rhinox. He just had a style unto himself when he wielded them.

This episode really remind me of RotF, except is much better made. Bay should have learn from them.

I really like the fact, that Starscream here order to take Megatron back to Nemesis. It's nice to know that this character can sometimes suprise you.

Finally Autobots seems to have upper hand:) But I have that strange filing that soon it will change...

The show? New episodes air on Fridays at 7:30pm on the Hub.

If you meant "When does the next episode air?" well, no one knows. It hasn't been announced. Next week's gonna be a rerun with trivia bits.

Theory (from me, this time):

Next episode has either side going to the polar region to retrieve the frozen Predaking, only to find him long gone and running loose on the planet. But, showing enough hints to the audience that he may not be just a "mindless beast", Predaking would demonstrate enough cleverness to keep himself hidden/away from either side, choosing not to go back to the Cons and just wanting to be free to do as he pleases. Thus would begin the titular Beast Hunt as both sides race to find Predaking first, before he finds them first, or worse...

...before Predaking possibly finds a way back to Cybertron and a way to recreate more of his kind.

He actually looks very similar to Cybertron Optimus Prime.

And speaking of similar looks, does Predaking's crown of horns remind anyone else of the "crown" on the back of the Alien Queen from the Alien Franchise?

He actually made me think more of Alduin from Skyrim.

What does that make Optimus then? Dovahprime? Primakiin?

Nah, we've already got Cyberverse Commander class Bulkhead to fill that role. ;)

Only if he absorbs Predaking's spark after killing him.

This episode (Yeah, I know I'm a week late) was one big status quo reset. I thought the writers said that status quo wouldn't be an issue this season. All of the Autobots are back together and Darkmount has collapsed within four episodes. That's how long it took Bulkhead to recover from what should've been a paralyzing shot in the back.

Season three's been one hell of an abomination. I don't believe anything that happens in the remaining 9 episodes could save it from disaster, either.
