An interesting observation/truth. 'Seasons' used to have meaning, because TV shows were produced seasonally. With the Fall season being when most shows had their traditional premieres. I remember well - most networks would have big productions introducing each new show. For Saturday cartoons, they had actual TV specials during prime time to show off the new ones. In the streaming age though, that's all out the windows. New shows are introduced on whim, with episodes staggered out and no seeming rhyme or reason to it. And entire seasons are released all at once for 'binge' watching, rather than needing to wait for just one episode per week, stretched out over six months.

So it's good in some ways, bad in others. You can watch it all at once, but the episodes and even entire seasons don't feel as monumental because they're over and done in a flash.

It is on Nicktoons at the moment (at least it will be once it stops being Spongebob), Earthspark and Star Trek Prodigy were both on there.

Is Nicktoons in the UK? I'll have to have a look. Cheers. :)

No spoilers, yet, and I am still not three episodes in, but

Drinking Game Idea; for the second episode take a shot every time they say alt mode. You will be in liver failure by the first commercial.

Tarantulas is not the Beast Wars Character. At first I wasn’t fond of the voice, but he is a aVERY beautifully written character and I love how they have incorporated his bot and al modes. Much like Airachnid. There is an especially poignant undertone to this series and this season especially about discovering yourself and I think it’s fantastic and fantastically well done. A great use for Transformers in a children’s show that isn’t just robots shooting at each other. Some parts I still find cringey and overdone for child humor but overall this series deserves high praise for what it is doing.

That Megatron episode was more mature and better written than anything from the WFC trilogy. This show confirms that Transformers media fares much better as kids content.

Cyberverse seemed like a filler line compared to RID2015. But Earthspark seems like even more of a filler line compared to Cyberverse. I had hopes with Nicole Dubuc involved, but the brief appears to have been: be pointless and do a lot of MECH-type stuff, while pretending that Cybertronians created on Earth from Cybertronian tech and Cybertronian materials are a different species.
It's called "Earthspark," but its world is even tinier than Jasper, NV. The Rescue Bots had a tangible mission as far as the humans. The banal human family in this thing exists for no reason other than McGuffin contrivance. The entire underlying drama of the family evaporated immediately as soon as the robots showed up, demonstrating that was contrived and manufactured too. I can't believe this got green-lit. I actually miss the days of the stupid animal-themed vehicular Decepticons from RID2k15.

It also revealed that the entire G1-animated recounting of those events by Alex back in the first episode were completely exaggerated.

I saw some bits of the show and siiiiiiiiiiighh........
Those transformers have the creepiest faces I've ever seen in any TF media.
Plus my... hopes... have been crushed.

Transformers Beast Wars, Animated, and Prime remains unbeatable to these days.

Well, if I see there's bits of raw liver on top of the icecream cone, I wouldn't lick it.

Beast Wars was ugly but the writing was brilliant. So I could get pass Earthspark's creepy faces. But any show that take the pronoms thing seriously is an instant nope. It's not just the "culture war" thing. This show looks like it's been choked by checking the most ESG boxes possible. Most of the show could be awesome, but like that "white privilege" line from The Batman, this feels like the waitress just spat in my soup.

At least, I take solace in knowing that those things are coming to an end and are failing one after the other.
I hope the next show will start fresh (another "reboot" but eh.) and will be the next Prime.

Just because it was something that did not resonate with you, does not mean it has not resonated with many others. It's not "pushing an agenda" or anything, it is literally just portraying a reflection on modern times. And from what I can tell discussing the show with people outside the binary gender spectrum, Nightshade has been beautiful and uplifting to them.

There is care going into these characters, and they have been doing a great job of putting together a show that is both beautiful and rich in characters and content.

As for failing, there is still 1 more batch of 8 episodes to go, and Season 2 was already greenlit.

I specifically said that it doesn't appeal to ME.
s
So eh, to each their own like they say.

As for success or failure, it always depends on how much money and viewership the show/movie will bring.

As for all these "greenlit seasons" in advance, it means nothing. It's putting the ox after the cart. Things will get canceled if the money is not there. See Willow S02 for example.

There's a difference between "doesn't appeal to me" and what you originally said, and given your track record, there is reason to believe you meant it in a very specific way.

And given how much more attention Earthspark gets than other Paramount+ programs on social media, I'd say it's doing pretty well. The interaction of the show staff with the fandom is also a nice benefit.

From what I have seen, Willow was a miracle to even get a season 1. Not that there really is any evidence outside of "eye test" items like social media discussion and presence to gauge the viewership.

so far, the show has been a success, and a very enjoyable one that that.

Oh, just pointing out that some cartoon shows clearly have an "agenda" and their creators are pretty open about it.

But here, this feels more like "following a trend" à la "Hello fellow kids". It's a bit cringe, but not more. Earthspark is no Proud Family reboot nor a Velma, thank God.

Finally got the chance to watch the next batch of episodes this weekend, and so far I have gotten to watch them all with my wife too. It had led to some fun conversations with someone who really isn't into transformers.

Now it has been a week, so I think we are good on spoilers, but just in case:

SPOILERS BELOW

Happy? Happy.

Hashtag oops was a fun episode, and what I really appreciate is that we finally have a nice tall Terran (especially how cute it is for Twitch to sit on her shoulder), another new alt mode for the group, and the fact that she seems to be tapped into the internet as we know it. That is a fun little gift to have moving forward.

Outtakes was pretty good as well. Jawbreaker is kinda my favorite of the 5 terrans so far. I love the conversations regarding choosing alt modes, and I love how much focus is put on finding a good alt mode. This episode also continues to show just how good this Megatron is. And I love the sort of joy he felt at being asked about his alt mode.

Missed Connection may have been my favorite of the new episodes? Nightshade got a good chance to shine, and wow did they make a good Tarantulas. I saw that they used a lot of Wreckers Trilogy to write him, and it showed. He was really good, and I loved the conversations and he Nightshade had. I think the best part of the exchange of how an alt mode further expresses you as a person, rather than being an inherit need where if you don't have one you are incomplete. Nightshade had a great focus episode, and they are definitely a strong character for the show. Also, my wife was cheering when they took on an owl alt mode, she is particular to beast-formers.

Security protocols was a good episode, felt maybe like a minute of run time was cut off to fit the timeframe, but I loved Breakdown, and his relationship with Bumblebee. Damn, a 2nd show in a row making me love a Stunticon? We had better get a good toy of Breakdown, that was an awesome alt mode and robot mode design. I LOVED it!

Bear Necessities was the cocaine bear crossover we didn't realize we needed, and it was funny to watch, especially with the baby bear. Also, continues to show just how not very good GHOST is. I'll have closing thoughts on GHOST in general.

Warzone was a nice focus episodes, with more excellent Megatron content, and I appreciated Thrash getting some focus here. Thrash may be my 2nd favorite of the Terrans, and I am glad he got some more chance to shine, especially with the whole thing about how they need to learn from their ancestors so they don't repeat their mistakes.

The Home 2-parter was really fun, and also a great reflection on the life of a Transformer on earth as it is. We got to see the side of humanity that is apathetic or just antagonistic in general, and it was good to see this kind of adversity in this manner. the bot brawls were also fun, and I appreciate Brawl getting movie Brawl's arm. I loved Grimlock, though I long to see him in robot mode proper instead of silhouette and hear how he will fit into the story. I also like Hashtag using her wheels to wheel around, I love when transformers use their alt mode parts in robot mode. Also, Mandroid is going further off the rails and it is great! and him being in cahoots with the GHOST head is great too, murky new waters await.

Closing thoughts/general notes.

Wife and i discussed Jawbreaker in depth, and 2 things. 1, we feel pretty confident that he is written to be on the Autistic spectrum, and if so, that is a nice little thing thrown in there for us. 2nd thing, I think Grimlock is going to be a key to Jawbreaker choosing his alt mode, and when he does choose it, my wife is thinking gorilla alt mode (and she wants another beast and it does with his name), but I am wondering if he will end up being a triple changer. I am very invested in his story.

GHOST continues to get worse, and it's interesting to see just how deep into this they are going. I am thinking that Season 1 ends with the Transformers in general cutting ties with GHOST, and all of them being on the run from GHOST.

I really hope we see Breakdown again, He was a joy.

with that flare of the Ember Stone at the end of Home, I also think we might be seeing some more Terrans soon. And I am open to that, they are a great joy and something very nice and new here.

It's also fun how each Terran has a pretty different alt mode. we have a drone, a bike, a communications van, and an owl. I love the variety.

Leaked spoilers for future episodes have indicated that Jawbreaker's altmode with be a (DON'T highlight if you don't want to be spoiled) Stygimoloch.

That's cool, and it makes me excited for a toy, though I too 100% thought it would be a gorilla.

I've just finished the new batch of episodes, and they were really good.

It was nice to see each of the new Terrans get their own focus episode, and to get more development for the Malto family in general. Not to mention some fun guest stars, and a few intriguing set ups for future episodes.

If I had to choose, I'd say that "Warzone" is my favorite of the new episodes, due to the focus on Megatron, with more details on his switching sides.
