Are they ever going to get the music video for The Touch on one of these releases?

Guessing the video doesn't look much different... or your phone (?) Seeing the blu-ray on a giant high-def screen (VS DVD) should yield some noticeable resolution improvements.

In-Hand images of Transformers The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray sets from Shout! Factory

Courtesy of our good friends at Shout! Factory, we now have a couple copies of the Transformers The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-Ray sets in-hand. One is the premium Steelbook version, the other is the regular Blu-Ray version.

The regular version features a reversible cover so that you can transform your set to feature either the Japanese poster artwork from the movie or the newly commissioned Livio Ramondelli cover.

Both sets include a Digital Download code so that you can watch it in all of its new digital glory right on the comfort of your computer or mobile device at any time. The url for the download, TFTheMovie1986.com, is currently unavailable but should function by the Blu-Ray's release date on September 13th, 2016.

Bonus features included with these sets:
  • 'Till All Are One - A brand-new, comprehensive documentary looking back at the Transformers: The Movie with members of the cast and crew, including story consultant Flint Dille, cast members Gregg Berger, Susan Blu, Neil Ross, Dan Gilvezan, Singer/Songwriter Stan Bush and composer Vince DiCola!
  • Audio commentary with direcdtor Nelson Shin, story consultant Flint Dille, and star Susan Blu
  • Featurettes
  • Storyboards
  • Trailers and TV spots
  • ... and more (screenshots later this weekend)

Both the fullscreen and widescreen versions of the film are included. First time on Blu-Ray in North America. Brand-new bonus materials. Movie shown as never seen before: remastered from a new 4K transfer. Looks fantastic!

Not really liking that, honestly.

That's not how it looks on my TV or laptop. Here's the same frame (or close to it) from my laptop. Click on the images to view the difference (oddly the smaller image looks the same until you zoom in). The one with the black bars is from my laptop.

As for the "cut" of the widescreen, you and I both know the widescreen version is BS and that the proper way to view all of image is with the full size version.

The cover of the steelbook and the sleeve is garbage. If I pick this up, it will be because of this:

Thanks, man. That really helps. The screenshots that were used in the comparison must have been early unfinished versions that Shout! Factory used as placeholders before they fully completed their transfer or something. I'll let the guy who did the comparisons know that the final product isn't nearly as dark as those he believed. ;)^

I actually may switch my pre-order to the non-steelbook just for that switchable cover, I still do that on my 20th Anniversary DVD!!

BTW, you can pre-order the US version of this Blueray at Amazon Japan, so those in Japan can get it too:

- https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/aw/d/B01GU8 ... ref=plSrch

This is great value, as usually domestic Blmueray/DVD/CD prices are through the roof like, 60 dollars for the Japanese version of the same product).

I hope the blueray is all region and that the digital copy is DRM-free. If not, will consult my good friend google about remedying it... I have pre-ordered it anyway, but this is the last time I'm buying this, even if the aliens fro Men and Black give us a new media in a few years. No more "White Albums" again for me!

S!F Blu rays I have purchased are region A only. Fortunately Japan & North America share the same region, so you should be ok. --I only know this because on other forums I have communicated with folks form the UK, and they could not play S!F Blu Rays, unless they got some "work around" such as a region free blu ray player or specialized computer software that would serve the same purpose.

Transformers: The Movie: Menus and Bonus Features

Seibertron.com has gotten a hold of the Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Blu-ray sets and has now fired up the ole Blu-ray set to try out the movie. Upon checking out the Blu-ray disk, there are a couple of interesting things to note.

The menu screen for the Blu-ray version of the movie shows off Optimus Prime and Hot Rod, with Optimus showing off the matrix and all its glowing energy. It also has the Decepticons and Unicron in various positions in the background. But the most interesting thing happens when one goes to the Bonus Features screen, which features 3 brand new features: 'Til All Are One, a retrospective documentary with the cast; Transformers: The Restoration; and Rolling out the New Cover.

Yesterday's Twincast/Podcast #155 also got a hand in checking out the new features, so feel free to head on over and download the Podcast to listen to some of the staff's thoughts on the new release of the movie.

This new version of the classic 1986 movie is set to be released tomorrow, September 13, so head on over to the below links to get your copy of this milestone movie!

For whatever reason, even though I pre-ordered over a month ago, I won't get my copy of the movie from Amazon until Wednesday.

I guess Amazon doesn't think the movie is "cool enough" to offer release date shipping like they do for other things?

I'm really conflicted on getting this. I had the VHS I bought the DVD, I have 20th anniversary DVD and I've seen the movie so many times I don't ever need to watch it again. Do I really need a new "bonus feature" with flint dillie saying for the millionth time "well we killed Optimus prime because he was just a toy and he wasn't on the shelves anymore. That's all he was, a toy. We didn't think kids would be locking themselves on their rooms over it"?

yeah, the real selling point for me is the quality. Now that we all have bigger TVs, getting the high def version of the film seems like it needs to happen.

The Japanese cover is also a huge bonus to me. That cover is beautiful.

Will the Blueray and Steelbook Blueray have features that the DVD version will not have or will they all have the same features on all of the versions?
I ask because the Walking Dead season 6 DVD doesn't have the unedited Megan scene so I was wondering if something similar would occur with this.
Thank you for any and all help!

I've basically bought every version of every format of this film released in the UK (and a couple that weren't) and the one thing I really, really, really want is for the few glaring instances of miscoloured characters to be corrected.

Hell, even just colouring one of the two Frenzys as Rumble (you know which shot I mean) would be enough to make it the best version, in my eyes.

Not aware of any differences between the two special feature wise - this is based on the info from Shout Factory's website ;)^

I emailed them several times today because I wanted to know what was going on. The pre-order DID have day of release delivery, that's what all their movies and CDs offer. They did explain how things are shipped and I did get a free month of Prime.

I got the steel book version on Saturday, Shout Factory shipped it early! I must say I have the Australia version Blu Ray disk and this set blew that one away! The quality on this blu ray was amazing. I was watching this on a Samsung 55 inch LED TV and I have NEVER seen this movie look so vibrant, full of color and background details are truly amazing. The only negative was there are only a few new bonus features and they show you how they cleaned up the film and the process of the 4K transfer which was very cool. The bonus materials are from the 25th Anniversary disc but still overall I was very happy with this purchase. The poster that comes with the Blu Ray set is very nice as well but you have to order directly from Shout Factory to get it. It is very nice to see the amount of effort that went into this project from Shout Factory. Hot Rod looks amazing, when Megatron is transformed into Galvatron you can see a huge difference in the purple lines used to transform him , the Earth scenes with Hot Rod and Daniel are bright and colorful. Sound quality was also good. If you watch this film in a dark room like you would in a movie theater, I think you will be very impressed with it. A lot of scenes were cleaned up, removing imperfections etc and you can see the difference very clearly! This Blu Ray made my day! Thank you for restoring a wonderful piece of animation history! :BOT: :CON: :KREMZEEK:
