Transformers Tv series question?

Hello i just got interested in Transformers Tv series. Im atm watching generation 1, and i would like to know what transformers tv series to watch that's canon.

I think the beast wars and some other tv series are not canon. If some pro fan can tell me which series to watch to keep it in the main story would be great. I used to watch transformers when i was younger, the cybertron series 2002-2005.

Short answer: They're all canon.

Long answer: They're all canon, but not all are necessarily in the same continuity. Like any 80's series it has had several reboots and redesigns over the years, and some series act as fresh new starts. Here's a little rundown of which series fit in where:

Generation 1 Continuity
Generation 1 Seasons 1-4
Transformers: The Movie (1986)
Beast Wars Season 1-3 (especially the 3rd season shows links to the original cartoon)
Beast Machines (has some minor links to G1 in the form of plot devices)

Unicron Trilogy Continuity
Armada
Energon
Cybertron

Aligned Continuity
Prime
Beast Hunters
Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising
Robots in Disguise (2015)

Standalone series (which means, no connection between them or other series)
Robots in Disguise (2001)
Animated Seasons 1-2

The Japanese series serve as nothing more than extra material, but in case you're interested, here's where they fit:

Generation 1 Continuity
The Headmasters (ignoring The Movie and Season 4)
Super God Masterforce
Victory
Zone (only 1 episode made)
Beast Wars II
Beast Wars Neo (both BWII and Neo take place in the original time of the Maximals and Predacons)
Car Robot (the series Robots in Disguise (2001) is based on)

Aligned Continuity
GO! (ignoring Beast Hunters altogether)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your great answer.Looks like i'm gonna stick to G1, season 1-4, movie and the Unicron Trilogy for starters. If some 1 else has suggestions keep them coming.

You should definitely watch Robots in Disguise from 2001, it was a fun series, even if it was a bit more on the kiddie side. I just love the animation and the designs of the characters themselves. The toys weren't too shabby, either.

Be sure to watch Beast Wars sometime, despite the aversions you may have against transforming organic animals. It has some of the greatest and most memorable episodes in Transformers to date and the characters to match.

I believe the better mindset to have here is "choose your own canon." But I agree that they're all basically canon, though different continuities.

Guilty, guilty and it was at least in a different time than either Beast Wars and Generation 1. >:oP

If you're gonna play like that, Then let's add Robotix as well ;)

To the OP: The Gobots series, despite coming from a competitor, has been integrated into Transformers by the Club, helped by the fact that Hasbro bought out Tonka and thus acquired the rights to Gobots (just not the toys). Robotix was another Hasbro toy line, featuring customized robots with a backstory similar to Transformers.

Well, there was also that four-episode Go-Bots cartoon from Playskool (a TF cartoon without the word "Transformers" in it). ;)

The difference is that both GoBots and Robotix were added to the Transformers multiverse by official sources.

And Cubix isn't a Hasbro property. Nor would it work since its robots are manmade and not a transformable race.

The toys were, but not the fiction.

What is it with everyone listing Beast Hunters as a sequel series to Transformers: Prime? It's the same show! If we're going to make subline imprints a separate series, then that list should have "Battle for the Spark" in the G1 continuity and should remove the Trilogy part of the Unicron Trilogy considering you'd have to put "The Unicron Battles" and "Primus Unleashed" in there as well. There's literally no difference between these examples and Beast Hunters.

Is there some sort of announcement from Hasbro I missed? This is quite literally everywhere I see the third season of Transformers: Prime mentioned besides the wiki. :???:

I think theres some question to that,

toy lines have a fiction of their own.

By "fiction" I meant the Animorphs books and TV show, which weren't affiliated with Hasbro. At the very least, the toy bios and packaging blurbs could be counted, but not the rest.
