Fellow Seibertronians, hot on the heels of the Meet the Autobots video - which featured clips from Transformers RID Season2 - we get our first teaser trailer for season 2. Although, it can only be watched on YouTube, we also get an interesting post on Kirk Van Wormer's Twitter account that seems to simultaneously announce and confirm a season 4 of RID, despite there being no news of a season 3 at this point - we have screencapped the message below, in case of changes from on high.



Are you excited for season 2 of RID? Even more so for another 2 after that? Check out the trailer, and leave your thoughts on this announcement in the comments below.

They might be skipping a season, but my guess is it's a typo

More RID, Im happy.

Chances are that season 4 refers to the upcoming rescue bots season or it's a mistype.



I doubt this is confirmation especially with prior news about rid ending after two seasons and a movie.

While I am all for this I am sticking to my guns and calling this a typo.

Any business professional would know better than to announce something like this on Twitter.

This screenshot from the latest trailer shown from the latest season 2 trailer shows that Grimock is fighting with a brand new Decepticon called Ransack. He is not to be confused with Ransack the Minicon. This is Ransack the Insecticon! He is in his robot mode. Please let me know if you found a picture of his alt-mode. Does he have a vehicle mode like Kickback, or does he turn into an insect for sure? I do believe that he will have a toy one day, as he had already been a toy numerous times from multiple generations since G1.

There was no confirmation. It was TFW jumping the gun on declaring the end of "the kiddie garbage show that they everyone hates".

In the comments below the Tweet, when asked what he meant by "season 4", Wormer seems to be very coy about clarifying on that. If it were a typo, he'd probably just come out and say so. But since he isn't, maybe "season 4" means something to him that's different from what it means to us. Perhaps, he meant the fourth season of production rather than broadcast. In this case, maybe the first season of production was the first half of the first televised season, with the second season of production being the second half of the first TV season, the third production season being all of the TV season 2 (since it's shorter), thus making the third TV season being the fourth production season.

To give an example of something like this, Beast Wars had something similar going on behind the scenes back in the day, in which Doug Parker (Terrorsaur) once mentioned online that he was then-currently doing voice work for "season 3" of the show when season 2 hadn't even started yet. What Parker meant by this was actually season 2 because, on the production side of things, one season is 13 episodes and season 1 of Beast Wars had 26 episodes, so it was more like two seasons from the production side despite all 26 episodes airing on TV as a single season.

Hasbro Studios confirmed the RID series length at 45 x 22mins. Season 2 will be 16 episodes long and end with a movie that equals three episodes. It was originally supposed to be 78 x 22 mins. but that has now changed. Here's a link confirming this:

So, while it is possible that a Season 3 will still happen, it is highly unlikely considering the change in the total number of episodes and the fact that a movie will end Season 2 just like Predacons Rising ended Season 3 of Prime.

I recall reading somewhere about that being the "current" episode count rather than the "final" count.

at least in the teaser we got to see those spheroid minicons! although no sign of more Overload yet!

Meh, I tried getting into this series and couldn't. I'm ready for some fresh material.

At this point, I really do hope for a season 3. I do enjoy the show and I want more of it. It did click with me. And take a grain of salt when referring to TFW "news" on occasion

saving so much money on this toyline its crazy. i just buy the warrior class figs. they are so few and far between though.

Just end this show already.

Cool, thanks for the data! I suppose that would line up with Hasbro's desire to the keep the focus on live-action during the relevant years - reminds me of this oddity we saw in 2014.Wonder whatever happened to those odd little badges - although I suppose 2015's would've been perfect for Steeljaw's gang... (and the prototype Predacon badge was likely a placeholder?)

In terms of toys, I get the distinct impression that the current Mini-cons are pretty popular!
