Aww, I know it's the exclusive cover, but it really makes me want to see Grimlock and the Scavengers in MTMTE again.

Guessing this is going to be another end of the month release? Watching Rewinds tape is going to be like watching a shaky cam movie given what we've already seen the D.J.D do.

First Tailgate a few episodes back, and now Rewind.... it really makes me smile when I see the reaction of some of the bots (especially ones coming back from the dead) when they first see Megatron. :-)

Rewind found alive? Only two explanations: he's either a zombie, or there's a link between him, the missing crew, and Brainstorm's briefcase.

It appears to be a case of alternate futures/pasts, from the events of #32 (and hinted at a little here, with the quantum engines).

Which also means this is not the same Rewind who died at the hands of Overlord, and that opens up a whole other can of spaceworms.

This is why slipspace is a dangerous thing: it creates buttloads of headaches. :HEADHURTS:

If I had to hazard a guess... I'd say the slug contains a final message from Chromedome and Rewind is crying not just over the loss of his love, but the true details of his past Chromedome told him within it, before he died in Rewind's place.

Okay, but where's 'normal' Chromedome during all this? He'll be overjoyed to see Rewind, suspiciousness aside. :-?

Hmmmm....doubtful. That dataslug probably contains the tape that Rodimus asked him to record of the ships travels. he lack of chromedome is puzzling but then again we still don't know where the rest of the crew or their lost light is. Rewind only survived the DJD attack because they probably didn't notice him while they were slaughtering everyone else.

The entirety of the current crew, other than the season 2 cast, all appear to be misplaced. That is a very good question, and one that #33 probably might answer, according to Roberts.

Unless he's killed them all.

Fast Forward to Rewind's Alternate Past

The dataslug is Rewind's recording of the the DJD doing what they do best. Nuff said.

Looking forward to this issue. It's nice to see Rewind back and for Robert's to have found a way to return him to the fold, while keeping us all intrigued without using the serendipitous suddenly alive for no reason that most monthly graphic stories use. Or did he?

Sarah Stone's IDW Transformers MTMTE #33 Cover Creation Process

by Va'al
Addressing the many questions received from fans, IDW Transformers artist Sarah Stone has posted on her Tumblr a step-by-step breakdown of her creative process, specifically about the More than Meets the Eye #33 30th Anniversary cover variant. Find out more here, and check out some mirrored images below!

I get a lot of questions about my process so I thought it’d be cool to break down and talk about some of my steps for illustrating covers! I hope this is helpful or interesting, it’s not quite a tutorial but perhaps it’s a glimpse into my thought process.

Step 1 | Thumbnail. The point here is to do several very fast, small, drawings, so you can’t get hung up on details. Here I’m thinking most about composition and subject. I had four originally and this one was picked to get finished.

Step 2 | Sketch. I draw on top of my thumbnail, nailing down more of the actual details. I fix any proportion isssues but I still try not to waste too much time making final lines, the sketch will go away in the end, so it just needs to be good enough for me.

Stage 9 | Final Lights. I add a harsh white rim light to both of the figures, really pulling them away from the background to finalize the painting.

The way she phrased her words, it sounds like she's using computer software.

All the same, it takes a lot of skill to render a good drawing even with software; and in some cases, especially with software.

She does. At TFCon Toronto I heard her say she pretty much does it all, start to finish, digitally. her amount of skill and the energy in her drawings is nothing short of amazing. Even her traditional work is fabulous too!
