Season 4 confusion

I recently watched a few episodes from season 4, "Web World" and "Carnage in C-Minor." In these episodes Ultra Magnus is the leader of the autobots. What happened to Rodimus Prime? Chronologically, these shows are in the 70s. I don't remember Rod dying in the episodes prior. And I remembere Prime leading in 5 Faces of Darkness. What happened?? Very confused.

The 70's? You are confused my friend

Anyways, Optimus Prime kicked the bucket in the movie so that Hasbro could crowbar a toy..... ermmm character into the role of leader (1986).

This was Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus was his second in command. Optimus Prime was brought back because interest and ratings were going down. But it was too late and the show only continued for 3 more episodes in 1987 (which would have been season 4).

Although G1 didn't end here, since the toys and comics still went on till 1992 and later with G2 even till 1994.

And to add to some more confusion, there's pretty much no continuity between episodes (think of it as a reset button that is being pressed after each episode).

Does this answer your question?

Rodimus just wasn't around that is why Magnus was in command.

That was all season 3.

Rodimus didn't die in Five Faces of Darkness. He just thought he did, after he was hurt. In reality he just had a Matrix quest, but was still very much alive.

clarification

thanks guys. Let me clear up what I wrote before. I have a list of the episodes and in that list, the shows I mentioned were like #72 and 73 and grouped into season 4 for some reason.
Now, where the heck was Rodimus for those episodes? Maybe the voice talent was on vacation or out when they made those, so they went with Ultra. It seemed bizarre to jump from Rodimus to Ultra with no explanation.

Season 4 consists of only 3 episodes called The Rebirth. These Featured the beginnings of the HeadMasters and TargetMasters.

At the end of Season 3, Optimus Prime was resurrected from the dead, and was given back the Matrix and his leadership. Without the Matrix, Rodimus Prime reverted back to being Hot Rod. So by Season 4, Optimus Prime was back in command, Rodimus Prime was back to being Hot Rod.

any more explanation as to why Rodimus 'wasn't around' and Ultra was leader in the episodes "Web World" and "Carnage in C-Minor"?? Did he go to Australia for vacation?? weird

Rodimus may have been back on Cybertron. I mean, it's probably a case of "I don't have to hold their hands" syndrome. Look at Golden Lagoon. You've got a team consisting of Beachcomber, Seaspray, Warpath and Perceptor. Without Optimus.

During that stage in the G1 cartoon the Autobots had control of Cybertron and had a major presence on Earth. Also the Autobots were going around to different planets in the galaxy promoting peace. Rodimus couldn't be everywhere at once.

i guess it was a second in command thing. I haven't seen any of those episodes in so long, so it freaked me out. You're right about promoting peace - b/c in "The Quintesson Journal" Rodimus is at a galactic peace summit.

oh Mikaela... beautiful but deadly
I'd like to thank Michael Bay's casting director for introducing us to her

Quit it with the movie references! We don't get it for another 17 days!

Anyhoo...

Webworld only featured the bot's at the start and that was a geology mission on an asteroid. Personally, I would be concerened if Rodimus WAS there.

Carnage, well, like others say, it was a second in command while Rodimus is busy elsewhere type thing.

To be honest, I did start getting a little angry when I read that, before I realized you were joking. I think I'm gonna hibernate in the Disgruntled Brit thread for the next 16 days. It's the only way I can be sure not to get any spoilers since other people seem to talk about the movie in non movie related threads with no warnings (yes, I found something out about Bonecrusher I did not want to know :-( ) I blame the fact it says World wide release everywhere, despite it blatantly not being.

unfortunately all you can do is lay low. I'm glad I didn't read too much about the movie before i saw it. I will say I was stoked when i heard about Peter Cullen at 2006 SD Comic Con.

yay - writing this post -leveled me up to micromaster
