Guess a lot of the guys share the same spark type lol. I wonder how that works though. Cause when Rewind needed a boost only Whirl and Chromedome were compatible because of the charge or whatever. I guess spark type and the charge are two different things. Hmmmmm

At any rate, as silly as it is that all the mainstays just so happen to share the same spark type, I couldn't be happier. Been a long time since we've seen half of these guys (especially Whirl) :KREMZEEK:

It is different. That group is filled with forged and constructed colds. Like minimus, he's a forged point-one-percentor but he's also a load bearing type.

I thought it was going to be a group of war born bots like Riptide so it wouldn't mess with time too much

Time travel?! SUH-WEET!! And since Rung is holding onto Brainstorm's briefcase, I suspect we might discover what's inside.

We already know what's in the briefcase ;) it's the control unit for the time machine.

It's great that we're seeing these characters but really is it such a good idea to take whirl

Not the first time to happen, either! Galvatron was recently looking very ..Unique, and Broadside was a full-on aesthetic Assault. Er. :-$

What are you talking about with Galvatron? He's never looked like a 3rd party in IDW

I'm not sure but he's either referring to how Galvatron looked in Dark Cybertron or how he looked in the recent flashback.

Bingo.

I was talking about this panel in particular:

That's just how IDW Galvatron looks. He has more design elements in common with his character model than the Unique release.

That's guido guidi's original design from 2006. That's how Galvatron has always looked until his earth mode and his barbarian look. I'm looking at unique toys mania king on my shelf. Looks nothing like that

I really want Roller to somehow be alive in the future. But knowing Roberts, the chances are 50 50. Also, the return of the heist team is great.

*shrug*

It's the first thing it reminded me of when I saw it in the comic, so I pointed it out.
Mostly the shape of the spiky thing at the back, really. But I take your points. :D

UT Galv def has a IDW meets Studio Ox design to me. I appreciate the 3rd party love in the IDW comics I say more please, as well as more 3rd party produced IDW bots.

How badly do I want a Roller figure? Really badly would be the correct answer

I'm not a fan of time travel stories, but I trust Roberts. Since I read these in trade I'll have to wait a bit to find out how everything will work itself out in the end.

And since I read this in trade and am only up through Dark Cybertron, I have to ask: Who is the blue guy that speaks on the lower left panel of the last preview page.

It's really hard to figure this one out. Obviously brainstorms target isn't pax because we know the war doesn't happen and the Decepticons don't take over. I don't think brainstorm is actually a Decepticon but I don't see him as a functionist loyalist either because the "knock offs" get exiled and Brainstorm is constructed cold. It's possible he's like shockwave and his loyalty to cybertron and only cybertron.

Riptide! New addition to the Lost Light crew, after the end of Dark Cybertron. :D

IDW Transformers and More Than Meets the Eye #36 Interlocking Alex Milne Covers

PostPosted: Tue Dec 16, 2014 10:59 am

In case you missed it with Transformers #36 last week, and are not able to get it with MTMTE #36 this week, IDW artist Alex Milne has shared his double-cover for the 30th Anniversary of the Transformers - and explained just how much time and effort went into it. Check it out below!

Here is my 30th Anniversary cover which was broken up between both issue 36 of MTMTE and (formally RID)

Originally when I created this image, it was for a totally different project that had something to do with the 30th anniversary, but wasn’t part of the homage covers that others had done. This is why the original date of the penciled image is 2013. I had planned to finish it on my own if it wasn’t going to get used and make a print out of it, but the time i needed wasn’t available, so it just sat in one of my portfolio’s. That was until I was asking if there were any 30th covers I could do and John Barber asked about using this image. This was perfect since I didn’t have to draw a new image up and I could finish this one I had already penciled.
looking back on it I might have changed a few characters for different ones, but this was before Windblade had come out.

There are 30 characters on this image. 30 for 30. I thought that would be nice. All of these characters are from the comics and are from comics IDW has printed. I guess I could have added in some Unicron Trilogy characters, but alas it did not happen.

The colours were done by the very talented Mr. Josh Perez who I enjoy working with and miss doing so on a more regular basis. Maybe one day we will work on a whole book together again :)

Enjoy :)

Nice homage!I personally would prefer more Unicron Trilogy and Movie characters, but its cool to see them represented, even its just a few.
