I'm sorry but I and many others would disagree with this opinion.

For me, the G1 cartoon ranks much further down towards the middle of the list.

my one and only serious post is this:
i love G1. i grew up with it, and view it as the basis of the entire fandom which should be acknowledged and respected. i still enjoy watching it today even.

but its not the best by a long shot, nor my favourite. that title belongs to BW and BM. they tie into G1 and have actual storylines and character development.

:BANG_HEAD: I was thinking too fast. I just realized BW is the best IMO. I guess its just all I ever really had was G1.

Comics, yes. Cartoon and toys? No. (Though the toys are in my top 3.)

Brief synopsis on why people are reacting the way you are to your topic.

Every few months someone comes along and creates a topic with a near identical title.

The statement is that G1 is the best. No room for argument.

The fact is the majority of the people around here do not, in fact, feel G1 was the best, we mostly appreciate it for what it was at it's time, but all agree that it was pretty lousy in animation, writing, character development, and classic cheesy 80's voices (let's face it, I love Frank Welker, but Megatron's voice was the worst. But subsequent series did a far better job. Even Starscream's voice improved after G1).

The topic starter normally argues a completely senseless, flamey, illogical argument in which we all wonder about the age/emotional maturity/emotional stability of the person.

Person then goes on to either start many insane sounding topics glorifying their love, or posting on every topic (usually comics or movies) where we are discussing new material and proceed to bash it and have temper tantrums about how much better the cartoon was back in the 80's. Or generally disappear because of short attention spans... or they were drunk.

Right there with ya. The Marvel comics were pretty cool. Though, I feel I like the UK ones more than the US ones, but only until Furman took over the US run, at which point I feel the US ones became better than the UK ones (which were mostly Earthforce stories by then, anyway). But the comics definitely felt cooler than the cartoon overall, even if the cartoon did get to flesh out a bunch of characters that the comics didn't have enough room to get to.

Though, since G1 has had multiple comic series, there's also the Blackthorne comics (first issue was silly, second issue was dull, and third issue was AWESOME!!!), the Dreamwave comics (which didn't impress me that much), the IDW comics (still working my way through them, so I'll hold off on my opinion of them), and the stuff Fun Pub has released set in either the Classicsverse (post-Marvel splinter timeline, now destroyed, had some okay stories) or the Wings Universe (psuedo-cartoon universe, had a good run with interesting stories, but now has been laid to rest).

You know, when Furman took over, the comics became more of a fluent story, with parts that had repercussions all the way to the end. It's anther reason that I was so disappointed by ReGeneration, it should have stuck with those characters, instead of just having Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream, and Bludgeon survive. Yeah, they were the main guys, but I wish Furman would have went a different way than Jhiaxus. He was a strictly G2 character for me, and his presence felt so forced, and the story suffered for it.

However, I would have liked to see a few more one-shot issues, such as the 1 that got me interested way back in the day, "Shooting Star," which was an issue Megatron had all to himself.

More like Joey Slick had it all to himself with Megatron as his guest-starring sidekick, but I get your point. :P
