Damn Im shocked by the amount of love weird al gets from the TF fandom. Its like marky mark all over again. I stand by what I said earlier. It's not a matter of love, it's recognition of the reality that Weird Al is a household name, while Peter Cullen is not.

I think a lot of time could have been saved by changing the thread name to 'celebrity guest actors.' Cullen is synonymous with Optimus Prime, but outside of Voltron, is he really that recognizable?
***that was a rhetorical question, please don't reply with his imdb page, I have nothing against Peter Cullen, I just think this thread has hopped the rails.

Casey Kassem too I feel deserves a nod. He already was a radio/music personality aside from being Shaggy, Bluestreak, and CJ.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Weird Al concert watching him perform stupid songs in stupid costumes. Sometimes I wonder about Transformers fans. If I diss Justin Beiber, I bet many people on this site will jump to defend him.

You've lost all legitimacy in this conversation not just from opinions but from the fact that those two's music are not comparable.


I can tell you that there are a lot of reasons why people give a damn about Weird Al he is a funny guy with a great sense of humor and people like his music.


His "stupid" songs are the reason he has a giant fan base.

I think it comes down to what people define as a "celebrity".

I think what Willy J was getting at with this particular list though was more "guest" voice actors, those who only contributed a couple of times.

I didnt compare beiber to weird al. I just used him as a statement to describe some TF fans bad taste. (in my opinion) If I was to compare weird al to someone, I would compare him to Jon Lajoie who basically does the same crap. You should check him out. If you like ridiculous clowns like weird al, youll love Jon Lajoie.

Yeah, I always loved his voice. Fit Hot Rod perfectly.

I'd probably say that my number one is Orson Wells. His voice had a quality to it, where you could really buy him as ordering Megatron around.

IMO Ernie Hudson definitely deserves a mention.

I liked nimoys galvatron, I think after the movie he needed a powerful voice, being insane was a good move... just not to the point it was stupid

Back to my comment about Tony Todd: I really didn't mean any disrespect to the guy or his fans. Like I said, he's a good actor, I just don't think he's the household name the others on the list are. The majority of his live action work is horror movies so if you aren't a fan of those (and I'm not) you're not likely to have a clue who he is. I didn't mean it imply that he wasn't any kind of celebrity, but as someone who's done a lot of voice work before Prime I have a hard time thinking he got that role from his celebrity status rather than because he's a talented voice actor. Those other guys on the list rarely do voice work, if ever before, which makes their parts something rare and special. But for Todd it just seems like another part to play like any other voice work he's done. Being right for a role isn't a bad thing.

Of course that's just how I view it.
