SF Debris opinionated look at the history of how the Transformers came to be starts today.

Part 1:

Ok, it's mostly a G.I. Joe for the first part. According to his schedule Part 2 will be out on the 3rd, and part 3 the 5th.

I'm a fan of SF Debris videos and I think he does a good job here. I learned quite a few things I didn't know.

the music is VERY overwhelming. It is too loud over the voice sometimes.

The first part with the GI Joe history was neat. I couldn't keep going through the second part though, just, nah, not that great after a bit. Knickerbocker is not that antiquated of a term, and mediums where voice is used should remember that pronunciation matters greatly. A nice effort though.

I'd recommend parts of Jim Shooter's old blog for further reading on some of the stuff covered leading up to the birth of Transformers if that's interesting to you. Doesn't give the whole picture but it is a fun perspective.

I've heard Bandai pronounced that way before.

Kinda like Gradius. I think most people pronounce it GrAY-dius, but the proper pronunciation is supposed to be GrAD-dius.(or GrAH-dius).

Some folks say potato, some folks say potatah. And I say whatever sounds nifty to me :D .

Also, I know its a joke, but saying the breastforce is a dissapointing toy is a poor example for a cheap laugh that shows the guy might not know what he is talking about.

That's how it's supposed to be pronounced. The name is Japanese in origin, after all.

It's just us Westerners who see the name and think with our Western pronunciation mindsets to say it as "baan-dye" instead of the Eastern "bahn-dye".

But to be fair, the name is just one letter different from "banzai", and I'd hope no one would say that as "baan-zye" instead of the correct "bahn-zye".

True, and unfortunately the picture he used(shown at about 1:08 in video 3) is a mixture of custom repaints and repurposed Prime Cyberverse figures, not the actual G1 figures.

So, SF debris recently finished a three part video on the history of the Transformers Franchise, form it's creation to revival through Beast Wars and onwards, which is pretty detailed and interesting. He really put some research into this one. Definitely worth a look if you want to learn about how the Transformers came to be in more detail.
