Hey guys, hopefully someone can help with this. I'm trying to figure out the original air times (I know it varies by location) for the G1 series for "new" episodes. I say "new" because according to my TV Guide from 1985 there were episodes that aired at 3PM (WGN) and then again at 4PM on another channel.

I remember Transformers would air re-runs alot so my question is does anyone have any idea which time slot was the "new" episode and which was the re-run? Sadly the TV Guide doesn't have episode names just says TRANSFORMERS.

like you said, every localization will be different.

i never heard of the show running on 2 networks at the same time in any market

in nyc,season 2, they sometimes ran a early a.m."before school" episode and then a after school episode, with those timeslots it was in the afternoon they ran new episodes


by season 3, they only ran the series in the am

In my locale, there were two stations (KVOS Bellingham and KSTW Seattle), both independent rather than network-affiliated at the time, which both ran Transformers on weekday afternoons at 3pm (both) for season 2 and 3. New episodes would show up as they appeared, and they'd loop back into repeats after new episodes.

Prior to that, while both channels showed the miniseries on a weekday afternoon 3 days in a row, subsequently KVOS showed Season 1 (after the miniseries) on Saturday Mornings.

Oddly, and I don't know if anyone else noticed, after Season 3 appeared, the repeats of Season 2 would have the opening visuals of Season 2, but with Season 3's musical/vocal score, which I thought more fitting. The Season 2 ending theme remained the same as it was from the beginning, however. Season 1 theme never altered at all.

WDBD (Fox 40) was Jackson, Mississippi's sole Transformers (Generation One) affiliate in the '80s. That station's Transformers show times (all Central Time) are listed below.
