Putting Overkill and Slugfest in there feels a little rude. I don't think we'll ever get proper versions of those underratedbois. :/

Until scans come out, here are some photos of the LG-EX Metroplex pack-in manga.

We get a full rundown of Metroplex's complete Japanese G1 history and more, including Metrobase's presence on Earth in the early 1980s (from the Micromaster manga), Metroplex's own creation in Scramble City, Metrotitan's birth in the Zone story pages, Metroplex and Metrotitan engaging one another in battle, Super Convoy's becoming a Powermaster with the Nebulan Hi-Q to acquire Nucleon Energy, Metroplex's powerup from his cartoon body to his Titan class toy body, Straxus's turning Megatron good to turn Metrotitan even more evil, Metroplex defeating Metrotitan at last putting the Metrowars to an end, the Cybertron Alliance being formed between Optimus and a reformed Megatron, everyone becoming Action Masters for the new era of peace, Megatron's friend Kiloton being murdered by humanity, said murder instigating the Generation 2 wars, Metroplex being pulled into the Legends World to defeat the Zamojin-controlled Windblade, many faces from across time and the multiverse likewise turning up in the Legends World, Trypticon's most recent resurrection in the Legends World and his fight with Metroplex there, and all the Citybots becoming New Akihabara City.

Plus, Megatron and Metroplex looking over the city together, and then Metroplex and the Aerialbots partaking in the energon barbecue that they had in the Aerialbots' Unite Warriors Offshot (with Armada Thrust being the one who takes the photo of that event), and then the upcoming Autobot Targetmaster Partners suddenly appear.

Sweet heavens, it's like someone made a comic out of all the figures I still desperately want! The Omnibots, Battlechargers, Cobalt Sentry, Slugfest & Overkill, the Autobot Targetmasters, Hauler, Sunstorm, SG Ravage, Megaplex, a decent Huffer... not to mention a Transformation Cog accessory.

They also feature Artfire and Stepper, which I'm hoping may be on their list to repaint from the currently-on-the-press Inferno and Jazz.

Someone hand this to Hasbro/Takara with "My Want List" scrawled across the top of it!!!

So... much... hope....

It's not. It's there as an illustrated reference to how Beast Wars Megatron stole G1 Megatron's spark to become his Transmetal 2 dragon form, and that when G1 Megatron's spark was inside BW Megatron's body, G1 Meggy's spark was exposed to BW Megs's Transmetal energy, which lay dormant inside G1 Megatron's spark until this point, in which it now surfaces and turns G1 Megatron into a Transmetal himself, his black version.

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Sabrblade, we have some preliminary images of another instalment in the Takara Tomy Transformers Legends manga, this one coming from the pack-in comic that accompanies the LG-EX Metroplex release. Sabrblade was also kind enough to provide a rundown of everything apparently taking place in the comic, so you can take a read for yourselves before diving into the art, too - check it out below mirrored from fellow fan Art Vandelay!

Generaly speaking, these comics are not an indication of toys to come (as in, toys we dont know fo yet). Sakumoto just has fun and uses whichever characters he wants.

And to retcon continuity errors. He’s Japanese John barber. It’s pretty insane how much effort he puts into little things. Shows a lot of love for the brand.

English summary of "Slugslinger's Ambition":

On 1980s Earth, Wheeljack presents his latest invention to the other Autobots: the transformation super cog, a device that can grant Transformers new transformations and combinations. He assures a wary Optimus Prime that there's no chance of the Decepticons coming for the cog without triggering his new alarm system, unaware that it's currently being dismantled by infiltrators Overkill and Slugfest. The cassettes are soon followed by Megatron and the Decepticon army, including new additions Slugslinger, Misfire and Triggerhappy, who make short work of the Autobots' own newbie, Pointblank. Megatron is pleased and taunts Starscream that his days as Air Commander may be numbered, and when Starscream protests that he's superior to the new jets, he gets blasted by Slugslinger. The other two prove less impressive, however, as Misfire accidentally shoots Slugslinger in the back and Triggerhappy's random firing has the other Decepticons keeping far away.

Runabout and Runamuck successfully ram through the Autobot defenses and seize the super cog, but are in turn taken down by Topspin and Twin Twist, two new Autobot soldiers with a mysterious secret. These Jumpstarters proceed to defeat who they believe is Megatron, though they realize too late their victory was over Megatron's double, Megaplex, allowing the real deal to sic Sunstorm on them. Soundwave deploys a squad of new cassettes to finish them off, but Enemy's attack is blocked by Nightstalker, who confronts his old comrade Ravage over a past betrayal. In the chaos, Slugslinger uses his specialty—shooting people in the back—to steal the super cog from the Jumpchargers, then asks Megatron to transform into gun mode and finish off the Autobots. When he does so, however, Slugslinger fuses both the cog and Megatron to his wrist, allowing him to take control of his leader's mighty firepower. Announcing his intent to become the next Emperor of Destruction, he guns down Megatron's loyalists (and Starscream) as well as Optimus Prime.

As he lies injured, Optimus Prime tells Ironhide, Prowl, Sunstreaker and Mirage that they will fight cogs with cogs: inspired by a previous battle, the five of them have modified their own transformation cogs to be able to combine, albeit the process is not yet perfected. Their combined form, Conviy Grand Prime, severs Slugslinger's Megatron arm with a karate chop, and the jet flees with the other Decepticons hot on his heels to punish him for his treachery. Convoy Grand Prime then captures Megatron, only for the Decepticon leader to emit a mysterious energy wave that separates the combiner, leaving Optimus Prime taking on his nemesis one on one. When Megatron gets up after being knocked into a wall, however, his body has turned black, and Wheeljack warns Optimus that he's emitting quantum surge energy. Megatron realizes the shock from the battle has caused "something" to awaken within him and dubs his new form "Transmetal Megatron", but instead of continuing the battle, he departs to take revenge on Slugslinger, warning the Autobots that they'll get a taste of his newfound power soon enough.

To avoid punishment, Slugslinger and his comrades flee into space and remain there until Megatron-turned-Galvatron is defeated in 2011, at which point they return to the Decepticons. By coincidence he then becomes a Targetmaster, and when his partner Caliburst mutates in the Legends World and becomes capable of firing anti-electrons, he finds he finally has the power to act on his ambitions again...

Also, this takes place not long after both Scramble City and its conclusion that we got in the "Dinosaurer Project Chapter" manga.

Another great comic! I might start using the creator's real name if they keep this up.

Here are some doctored images, using the "camscanner" and "picsart" apps respectively, to clean up the images a little.

Metroplex comic summary:

Metroplex introduces himself as the newest of the "Metrotype" Transformers, a group that includes Metrobase, the Autobot warrior who guarded the Ark prior to 1985, and Metrotitan, who slumbered beneath Titan since ancient times and was later brainwashed into a Decepticon. By the 2030s, the Transformers are threatened by an energy crisis that Metroplex regrets would be reversible if not for the constant fighting, though fortunately Optimus Prime discovers a new power source called nucleon by adopting a Powermaster body and venturing into a black hole. He has his Nebulan partner, Hi-Q, absorb the energy and combine with him, causing him to transform into an Action Master, and returns to Metroplex to announce that they now have an unlimited energy source.

Metroplex confronts the Decepticons with the hope that unlimited energy will lead to them accepting peace, but their current leader, Straxus, makes it clear that energy has nothing to do with his lust for conquest and sics Metrotitan on him. Powered up since their previous battle, Metroplex declares he will gladly become a demon in pursuit of peace and soundly vanquishes Metrotitan, then returns his unconscious body to Titan so that he can absorb the land's energy and one day reawaken. As Twincast begins calling for peace, Optimus Prime suggests they start by convincing Megatron, recovered from Straxus's captivity and rebuilt as an Action Master, to lay down his arms, as his influence over the remaining Decepticons would help greatly. He retains some doubts that Megatron of all people would accept, but relents after seeing a Decepticon treat him kindly even after his brainwashing at the hands of Straxus, and soon the two settle their differences and form the Cybertron Alliance.

The peace doesn't last long, however: when Megatron's friendly subordinate is killed by mistrusting humans after coming to Earth as a peace envoy, the Decepticon leader rejects Optimus Prime's idea of peace and declares that he'll use force to keep everything under his control in order to keep his people safe. The war breaks out again, with the combatants evolving further from Action Masters into "Generation 2" bodies, but this time it's not a war fought over energy, but over beliefs: peace through freedom versus peace through tyranny. Pulled into the new war, Metroplex grows increasingly weary of fighting, wondering what the point of fighting for temporary peace is and if the Transformers are fated to always be at war. During one battle, he hears a voice call for help before he's suddenly pulled through space and time to the year 2015 in the Legends World, which is at the brink of being destroyed by Windblade.

After saving the world by defeating Windblade, he settles down in this world, witnesses many other Transformers come to visit and even faces his old rival Trypticon again. He is at first saddened that he has to fight again, but the subsequent construction of Neo Akihabara City heralds a time of peace, something he credits to Mayor Megatron being able to overcome his past ambitions. As the Transformer who has spent the most time in the Legends World, he's happy about its current state, but there is still something he wants for himself: while Megatron is looking over the city from atop him, Metroplex tells him he would like to stop being the city hall and be free. Megatron lets Metroplex go, and he travels into an uninhabited area to appreciate his constant company, Scamper, Slammer and Six-Gun. As the Aerialbots come to visit and hold a barbecue party on him, he reflects that the peace of the Legends World is what they have all been looking for and wishes everyone would come live there. Suddenly a glowing object catches his attention and he looks closer to discover none other than the last three mutant Targetmasters, a discovery which will lead to the end of this world...

Scans of New Takara Transformers Legends Pack-In Manga LG61, LG62, LG63

We've received scans of the latest chapters in the Takara Tomy Transformers Legends manga series, by Hayato Sakamoto, that accompanied the recently released sets of Transformers Legends sets LG61 Decepticon Clones, LG62 Targetmaster Windblade and LG63 Desepticon (sic) G2 Megatron, with the latter two each also accompanied by a Titan/head Master and a drone!

The comics scans are mirrored below, and feature not only the characters listed above, but also GI Joe's Cobra Commander (in his Old Snake getup) driving a regular deco G2 Megatron (rather than the purple Combat Hero one of LG63), characters who have previously appeared in the series, and no unnecessary fanservice at all. You can read them all below, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub.
