IDW Transformers: Saga of the Wreckers Collection Pushed Back to July 2018

After the latest batch of solicits revealed the arrival of a one-shot comic from IDW Publishing, at the hands of Nick Roche, Guido Guidi, and Geoff Senior this May, featuring the Wreckers, we also have some news on the Saga of the Wreckers collected edition of stories, courtesy of Amazon.com.

The book was supposed to be out in December 2017, but was clearly pushed back (much like for Till All Are One volume 3) to July 2018 in order include the new Requiem of the Wreckers alongside Last Stand and Sins of the Wreckers, as the updated blurb now states. Take a look below at the cover art, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub!

Join the toughest crew of Autobots around on a pair of missions where they'll face seemingly insurmountable odds and things are guaranteed to end badly.

First, the Wreckers and their leader, Springer, are sent to investigate Garrus-9, a prison that fell to the Decepticons three years ago, with no communications in or out since. Who's really behind the prison siege, and what dark secret awaits Springer inside? The answers to those questions will send this mission to the razor's edge!

Then, Prowl has been kidnapped. Worse for him, it seems like no one really cares, thanks to his history of messing with people's lives. The only person he trusts to rescue him is Springer of the Wreckers. Traitors are revealed, secrets come to light, and it may all be more than even the baddest crew of Autobots can handle.

Collects Transformers: Last Stand of the Wreckers #1-5, named the #1 Transformers series by IGN, Transformers: Sins of the Wreckers #1-5, and The Transformers: Requiem of the Wreckers one-shot.

More. Time. with leaders Springer and Impactor about the face off, Verity Carlo ready for a fight, and Kup No More.

Check it out below!

"Kup no more". I like it! Shoulda had a trash can and his Autobot sigil, his rifle, and his cy-gar in it for additional effect!!

I'm also pretty happy they still have the same design for Springer as the Thrilling 30 voyager. Still relevant!! ;)^

This could have been some final farewell for Kup, but no, instead he dies pointlessly in some terrible crossover comic PURELY for shock value. Hoping they treat Kup’s death with a little more of the storytelling that it deserves.

Couldn’t agree more.

Also, I’m quite tired of this whole “Civil War” style friend vs friend crap every storytelling medium wants to push now. After Last Stand of the Wreckers and Sins of the Wreckers, Impactor and Springer should not be trying to kill one another. :WRECKERS:

Here’s hoping that it’s just a marketing ploy and they’re on the same side. Also, hopefully Sandstorm gets his moment of redemption.

Either way, can’t wait. Already scratched off pampers from May’s budget and added this book. Sorry kids lol.

Isn't the" Kup no more", a reference to a spider-man cover and book. And Roche happens to be a Spider-man guy right now, right? Cool connection, if my memory is serving. Yeah, I'll google it.

Edit: and now the trash can comment makes sense.

That's what I was going for. ;)

Do I have to read the second series for Requiem? Or should I just opt for the trade containing all three?

You should read Sins before you read Requiem, helps show where everyone is at and why. It's also a great series by itself

^Just be aware that SotW is pure tonal whiplash from LSotW. Nick Roche was going through some heavy life stuff while working on SotW and it shows. It shows in a good way, to me, but it's definitely an emotional, somewhat somber story as opposed to Last Stand. I think the art speaks well to that point.

Second tip for SotW: read it slow and take in the layouts/environments. There's some immersion required to fully appreciate it imo.

Some colours from Burcham, over different artist lines.

I always find it fascinating how much of a difference a colorist can have on different art. Good colorists are so important and often undervalued

Full Cover Reveal for IDW Transformers: Requiem of the Wreckers One-Shot

While we had seen the lineart and initial solicitation bio for the last IDW Publishing Transformers book by Nick Roche, the artist has shared a full colour image of the cover - thanks to Josh Burcham - for Requiem of the Wreckers, the one-shot that concludes the story of the nastiest nice guys around, featuring spiders, lips, terror, shock, violence, and secrets. Lots of secrets.

Take a look below, and make sure to order the book through your local comic book store to bump up its numbers and reach!

Here's the deal: Following Kup's death, Springer and Verity's domestic peace dissolves. Springer reaches out to the only surviving link to his past: Impactor (last seen joining terror cell MAYHEM). Cue a road trip, ire from an anti-TF campaigner, and all loose ends cauterised...

We wanna make sure no one missed out on this, and PRE-ORDERS is how that works. And I'm sure it's a done deal that this niche irregular title filled with A-Listers will outsell the Unicron books AND Lost light/Optimus Prime finales combined, but we'd love the numbers...!

And if you want to get hold of a SIGNED copy of this one-shot, please consider pre-ordering with @TheBigBang_. They deliver super swiftly and worldwide, and I'll be there on delivery day with my sharpie and lipstick to add value to your copy.

I had to join up to say how glad I am Nick Roche is getting this chance to address how awfully pointless Kup's death was in the IDVerse.

Amazing the range of quality amongst different stories right now in the IDWverse. These pages alone have more characterization than everyone in Visionaries vs TF combined.

Wonder what house she's at one page one - a former foster family's? Jimmy Pink's? Onion's family's?

Also thought she was holding onto the Aequitas data at first but that's clearly paper. Hmm
