Big news for all Transformers fans. A new Transformers series based on the new War for Cybertron Trilogy is coming to Netflix next year. It will have some origina stories and will be spearheaded by the same showrunner whch brought us the Machinima Ttans Return and Power of the Primes series. However, it is made by the Rooster Teeth who will be working with Polygon Pictures who made Transformers Prime. You can read all the info below which was brought to us directly from Hasbro.

ALL-NEW TRANSFORMERS UNIVERSE ORIGIN STORY

IS COMING TO NETFLIX IN 2020

-- RAISES THE STAKES OF THE AUTOBOT & DECEPTICON WAR --

Netflix and Hasbro have partnered with Rooster Teeth to bring War For Cybertron to Netflix members around the world in an all-new original series to launch in 2020 – complete with a new animation look and style that presents the Transformers like you’ve never seen them before.

Rooster Teeth (RWBY, gen:LOCK) will produce the original series for Netflix and Polygon Pictures (Godzilla, Knights of Sidonia) will serve as the animation studio. Transformers veteran FJ DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return, Transformers: Power of the Primes) will serve as showrunner on the series with several contributing writers, including George Krstic (Megas XLR), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse), and Brandon Easton (Agent Carter, Transformers: Rescue Bots).

· “In this Transformers origin story, we will explore the expansive universe of Cybertron in a way that audiences have never seen before - to the delight of both existing fans and those coming to the franchise for the first time,” said John Derderian, Director of Anime for Netflix. “The Transformers brand is a global phenomenon and we are thrilled to partner with Hasbro, Rooster Teeth and Polygon to bring this exciting new series to our members around the world on Netflix.”

· “We're thrilled to work with Rooster Teeth’s new premium studio division to bring an all-new Transformers fan-oriented series to Netflix," said Tom Warner, Senior Vice President for the Transformers franchise for Hasbro. “Transformers has a rich history of great storytelling and War for Cybertron is an exciting new chapter in the Transformers Universe.”

Slightly less uh oh, tho it might give me reason to for the RT First membership, which I am tempted to do for Gen:LOCK, but not only for that show.

The first time I saw that Machinima was doing this, my hopes went down the drain, but if rooster teeth is helping out with this than it could honestly go either way. Let's hope this turns out okay.

The series on Machinima were awful IMHO... fingers crossed these will be better.

We all learn from our mistakes, so I'm choosing to assume that anyone who worked on the Machinima trilogy learned a LOT that they could apply to another better restart. Not sure if this will turn out to be the serious Gundam/Macross-esque show that the first announcement of the CW series got my hopes up for way back when, but I'm looking forward to this without getting my expectations over the moon.

Will be interesting to see how this turns out and if it keeps the same format episode wise as the machima series

Origin story no. 53719: The Transformers were created accidentally when some toy 'slime' fell into a woodchipper. 8-}

Isn't that the origin story of the Botbots? ;)

In all fairness, the Machinima series was limited by budget which they spent most on animation and voice actors rather than writers.

I would imagine this would have a bigger budget and they can get even more famous people to do the voices! SCREW THE WRITERS! THEY'RE NOT NEEDED!

All I'm asking for is a one-off episode with two of the special teams voiced by the Red vs. Blue cast.

Even better would be RvB styled generics popping up every now and then using Hound's body type with a different head

If I had to venture a guess, I'm guessing the budget break down went something like this:

70 %-To the voice cast (on TR & PotP only)
10 %-animation production
10 %-audio presentation
10 % script writing

I was so high on these series before they came out. Of course, everything deserves a second chance, but unfortunately I've learned to have my expectations at levels so low, hopefully anything would be an improvement. I mean even good produciton companies like Dreamworks can make an awesome series for Netflix like Voltron (which ended in December), but then create gawd awful abominations like the new She-Ra...

An insider told me that all the budget went to the animation since that portion was not handled in house.

This maybe nice but wondering if it's me or does it seem as if Hasbro jus totally forgotten about Transformers Prime?.. IMO.. best series since Beast Wars. An they even included a beast theam in that series, but what am i...jus a collector. I'll give this Netflix show a chance, dought I collect all the figures from this when so far only the Starscream figure is the best to me.. then they bring a repaint of him..smh.. I'm a Megatron fan so I'll get that figure but the others..nah
Oh wait the Ironhide looks really cool in this line so I'll get him as well sense we never got an official WFC Ironhide as we should so yeah..those three an let's see how the cartoon is..with hopes that it's good, it'll totally be something to look forward to watching.

I gave She-Ra a go, but realistically, I'm not the target audience.

I do like what little I've seen from Rooster Teeth, yeah the guy that headed up the Machinima stuff is heading this up, but I'm sticking with the misaligned funding is what harmed the Machinima stuff and not this guy and that with different people allocating the budget we'll see things improve.

It's not that it's been "forgotten" so much as that it has been "moved on from". TF: Prime was headed by a different brand team than the one currently heading the Transformers brand at Hasbro. The people in charge of the current array of TF shows, comics, and toys are not the same people who spearheaded the shows, comics, and toys of TF: Prime's time. That show had its time and ended when it did. Transformers has moved on from one brand team's creative vision to that of the next team. Prime's over, simple as that.

Here's hoping we get something a little closer to Legendary Defender and a bit farther away from Machinima

Serious question that's a bit off topic but I've been thinking about for a while and this announcement post has brought back to mind: does Seibertron have an editor who proofreads news posts? Even the title of this thread provides an example.

To be honest, I've been noticing a lot of spelling errors in the news posts recently. It's getting really distracting. I don't know if it's a time crunch issue, but it's getting difficult to read about anything.

Big news for all Transformers fans. A new Transformers series based on the new War for Cybertron Trilogy is coming to Netflex next year. It will have some origina stories and will be spearheaded by the same showrunner whch brought us the Machinima Ttans Return and Power of the Primes series.

On top of that, this same news post also gives inaccurate information in the opening paragraph, quickly contradicted by the quote from Hasbro.

However, it is made by the Rooster Teeth who made Transformers Prime. You can read all the info below which was brought to us directly from Hasbro.

Rooster Teeth didn't make Transformers: Prime. Rooster Teeth has had nothing to do with Transformers before this series. Polygon Pictures animated Transformers: Prime, and they're serving as the animation studio for this series too. See Hasbro's statement here:

Rooster Teeth (RWBY, gen:LOCK) will produce the original series for Netflix and Polygon Pictures (Godzilla, Knights of Sidonia) will serve as the animation studio.

I don't mean to come on here out of the blue and tear apart the article, as I don't know what conditions this news piece was delivered under, but it would do good for someone to just...double check the post, please?
