What better way to celebrate a 35 year anniversary than on a prequel of the first...

Because it's the 35th anniversary of the first...? >:oP

I'm excited for the prequel comic, especially with Furman and Guidi returning. But did it have to involve 11th century Earth? Why couldn't it have been just a story set on Cybertron? The first issue of the G1 comic glosses over everything up to the Ark's departure in just a few pages. I was hoping for an elaboration on Cybertron's history before Megatron declared war. At least Megatron got his comic-accurate dark helmet back. >:oP

Actually no...

It is the anniversary of the Whole Series. Oddly enough, G1 only actually accounts for 5 of those 35 years, at most.

This is an example, from another series, of how you celebrate your entire history:

Godzilla's 65th anniversary this year. Yet unlike Transformers, Gojira doesn't have a weird part of the fanbase that refuses to look beyond the '54 original. >:oP

Nor is there another fanbase, demanding a New Sean Connery era movie at every James Bond anniversary....

I'm not refusing to look beyond the original. I like most of the later additions to the franchise, especially Beast Wars and Animated. I don't even care for the G1 cartoon much, I've always been a comic fan mainly. My argument was that it's the 35th anniversary of G1, not the entire franchise. The later additions haven't been around as long, so it's impossible for them to have a 35th anniversary.

And before you start on another anti-Geewunner rant, I understand what you're saying. The anniversary should be celebrated by all parts of the franchise, and I don't disagree with that. But considering it's the actual anniversary of the beginning of the franchise, which is Generation 1, a G1-themed celebration should not be omitted, even if later additions are included subsequently. That's all. :PEACE:

I see what you're saying though. But it is the 35th anniversary of everything. If it was the specific anniversary date of the first comic or episode of the cartoon, that is a specific G1 anniversary. But the actual line is '35 years of Transformers.'

The later additions haven't been around as long, so it's impossible for them to have a 35th anniversary.

To flip that on it's head, G1 hasn't been going for 35 years on it's own either. It was a collaboration of all series, comics and films through which Transformers has endured three and a half decades. Virtually outliving all of its contemporaries.

Every facet of Transformers adds up to those 35 years, just like every Godzilla is recognised for it's 65 years.

'84 didn't come out this week so anyone fretting can rest easy, it'll probably be out by end of the month at the latest.

There's 3 pages of preview art floating about the other forums but I'm on the phone and it's a pain to link.

Basically ya get an establishing shot of a runaway cybertron, a battle scene featuring astrotrain acidstorm reflector an Co standing in for generics and what I reckon is a two page spread of the ark being built by construction themed bots overseen by prime.

They basically did more in 3 pages of set up than the ongoing has managed in 3 issues.
