You'll have to excuse me if this has been answered before, whether on here or elsewhere. I've been noticing that recent TF series have been recycling the G1 frame type as opposed to more stylized designs. Is this due to Habro wanting to be more consistent or something else?

It's a combination of brand consistency/recognition and the fact that many of the Hasbro people now in charge of Transformers grew up with G1 as kids and are thus big fans of it first and foremost.
