Seeing how Bay messed up this new Movie with loads of blunders and scenes that defies explanation...

Spawned a truck load of criticisms, jokes, and death threats?

Here, there, and everywhere, fans take to compare the new Movie 2007 to the old Movie 1986.

Time and again, we'd see some argue that, if the 1986 Movie were made today, maybe it would recieve the same amount of flak or even more.

In the spirit of fairness to the new Movie, let us bring our attention for a while to the old Movie, and imagine that it was the big anticipated Transformer movie of the year, shown today.

Now showing: Transformers The Movie (1986):

.....

What would fans and viewers complaint about this movie?

I'd say for one thing the movie would get the same flak it got back in the 80's for all the same reasons & some of the ones the new movie is getting flak over:

1:they killed off most of the original cast including the beloved Optimus & replaced them with nobodies.

2: too violent for the kiddies it's supposedly targeting.

3: everybody's favorites wouldn't be in it. (Omega Supreme, superion, & virtually half of the cast from season 2).

4: Frank Welker's Megatron voice got replaced by a celebrity.

5 The horrible atrocities done to Starscream(one being they killed him, the other they made him fugly).

Like the new movie, the animation was top-notch for the time, featured some pretty kick-ass action sequences. Not to mention one of the biggest TFs ever made...

One thing, though. Just because it was animated, I doubt it would have got the same amount of money the live action movie did, as most adults still see anything animated as a cartoon, & therefore kiddy.

"Who are all these new guys? I don't recognize any of them. Why couldn't they have put in the 'real' Autobots?"

"They killed Optimus!"

"They replaced Optimus with a kid wannabe Rodimus. That's not Prime!"

"They replaced Megatron!"

"Why can't they listen to us fans? We know how to make a real movie!"

"Why is every planet they go to a robotic planet? That's not realistic."

"It's a 90 minute commercial for the new toys."

"Why is it PG-13? It's a kid's movie."

"Why couldn't they have made this live action! That would have kicked ass."

"Where are all the cool combiners? Bruticus would have rocked in this movie."

"How come we've never seen the Matrix before? PLOT-HOLE!"

"This director sucks! He changed everything about the show! He should die!"

"Where's Snarl?"

"God, that kid Daniel is annoying. They should have killed him."

"God, that Wheelie is annoying. They should have killed him."

"Why did they make Grimlock stupid? They should have made in like the comics. He was smart!"

"Where's Cyclonus' Armada? They show them being created and then they're never shown again? Plot-hole!"

"They only show Scourge and two Sweeps being created. How come they're like a hundred Sweeps through the rest of the movie? Plot-hole!"

"This director ruined the franchise!"

"Hot Rod transforms into a car a dozen different ways! Why couldn't they have been consistent?"

"Why all the animation errors? You would think they would be more careful for a theatrical movie!"

In your heart of hearts, you all know it's true.

I second that! Why kill Ratchet? What did he do?? He wasn't a warrior, really, just a medic.

Here's one of my complaints over the movie:

Wheeljack was a pretty major character. If they were going to kill him, they should've at least shown his death. All we got was a shot of his corpse. NOT COOL! And killing off the characters people knew and loved to make way for inferior ones was just...STOOPID.

I agree. I didn't even see his dead body until a few years ago. "Stoopid" indeed. :-(

Ratchet, together with Ironhide, are part of the inferior design toys. If you can remember how his G1 toy look like. GeewhiZ!

Hasbro just grabbed him from Japan in 84, and didn't make any effort to restyle him into a true Transformer, from his old Microchange heritage.

The original Microchange/Microman toy design was meant to have a Micorman character in the seat to drive him.

My 7 year old self -- "What is all this weird music wheres the normal music from the show? this theme song sucks" lol..

Sunstreaker and Hound were in the ship with Prime when they arrived.

What happened to them? Were they killed?

Dream come true! Hehe :)

There's a story behind, why i thought of bringing up this topic into the forum.

A friend of mine was always making fun of Kupp and what he did in a certain part in the movie.

During the epic fight between Prime and Megatron, Rodimus run towards the scene with the intention to help Prime.

Kupp says, "Stay away lad. That's Prime's fight."

Then he disappears from the scene.

After Prime took a heavy beating from Megatron, he made a last all-out effort to deliver a crushing blow to Megatron. This turned back the Decepticons into retreating.

Again, Kupp reappears to say, "Prime did it! He turned the tide."

It's as if he was just a spectator. Always disappearing when there's action. As if not willing to lend a hand, and not contributing to the fight effort. But manage to reappear every time to deliver a one-liner.

***

Now, everytime my friend and i encounter some sticky situations or some funny moments, he would say, "Prime did it!"

And we'd have a good laugh.

I don't mind Brawn being killed as much as I mind Ratchet and Prowl dead. Why not injured? Why dead?

Brawn isn't dead! He only got really tried and fell asleep!!

Same with Wheeljack. He had too much coffee, and after being really hyper, he hit a low, and fell asleep!
