Hi all,
I got the 20th ann. dvd of the animated movies and finally got around to view the changed scenes and deleted footage..

I don't know about y'all but to me the original battle at Autobot city, where the diaclone version of Ultra Magnus was used and Megatron barellllyy dodges a blast from that big cannon, was wwaaay more interesting than the one that made the final cut.

There are quite a few scene in the movie that were removed because of that. On Junkion Magnus was supposed to be drawn and quartered. Had the movie gone on as originally drafted they wouldn't have needed Spike's curse to get the PG they probably would have recieved a PG13 for graphic animated violence.

All I've ever wanted in life is a 15 minute tape battle.

I seem to remember that the Marvel Comics adaptation of the Movie still had that scene where Magnus gets drawn and quartered in it. Nearly positive I remember the Sweeps using some kind of energy 'ropes' to rip him apart...

And all I ever wanted was a fifteen minute combiner battle.

There is always Scramble City. Not quite 15 minutes but it gives you a small taste of a real tape and gestalt battle.

It's missing Piranhacon, Monstructor, Liokaiser, Road Caesar, Landcross, Predaking, Raiden, and so many others...
I'm talking like a knock down drag out brawl. Like I wanted to see happen in the 1986 movie when they attacked Unicron. Yes, I know that many of the groups I listed would not be participating in that, but that's beside the point.
Thanks for trying Koloth. Scramble City is close, but needs G1 voices to be close to what I want.

Picky picky picky
Im a little surprised that with all the fan videos out there, that someone has never really made an all in Combiner battle...
Then again, even if they did, they wouldnt be able to get all the G1 voice actors anyway...

Though it wasn't 15 minutes, in Headmasters the tapes had a few scuffles here and there. If I remember, it was way more than what was ever in the U.S. series.
And I think the closest thing we'll get to a big combiner battle is Zone. Those were some of the best Transformers battles in my opinion.

How did Magnus bite it on Junkion in the Marvel comic adaptation? Wasn't he torn apart in the comic? -If anyone has the comic, can they verify that for me? I believe that they comment on the change to that scene in one of the commentary tracks, but again- this is all based off my (sometimes faulty) memory.

In the movie, you can see the Sweeps shoot out a continous beam when they shoot Magnus. These were the ropes they were gonna draw and quarter him with. So a little bit of the scene made it in.

Interesting bit of info in the storyboards for the battle city, apparently Red Alert was shot in the chest.

Yep, its true. the script went along with the comic in that Magnus was supposed to be pulled apart by the Sweeps instead of being blasted by them.

Which explains how the Junkions could glue him back together.

And I always thought it was just that "magic" polish they had that brought Magnus back to life.

That wasn't polish, that was 'No More Nails'.
