New UK Anime Channel To Show Transformers Headmasters, Masterforce & Victory

The first dedicated UK anime channel, Anime Central was unveiled earlier today at AmeCon and will begin broadcasting on Sky Digital between the hours of 9pm and 6am in September. According to a forum poster on anime uk news who attended the panel at which the channel was announced they will be showing an unspecified Transformers series as part of their line up.

[speculation]Considering the fact that pretty much every Transformers series except Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory are already being broadcast on British TV and the fact that this is an anime channel I reckon there is a good chance of it being one of the aforementioned series.[/speculation]

Bump!!!

Although it is still not officially announced at this moment it seems that the Transformers series that AnimeCentral are going to be showing are the three Takara G1 series.

More Anime Central Details
Sorry for the delay, got back home at 1am, so was on to fit state to put details up, and have only just managed to get on the unblokced PC.
Starting on Sky (basic package), but if it gets enough support and if negotiations go well they’d like it to go onto cable and Freeview as well. It will start with a 9pm to 6am slot with 3 three hour blocks. The show will be FMA, Bleach, Gundam SEED, GitS: SAC (1st and 2nd Gig), .Hack (one of them didn’t catch which one), Planetes, Cowboy Bebop, Transformers (Headmasters and ones of that ilk), Scryed, Escaflowne. They are aiming for the 16-34 demographic, but not just the dedicated anime fan and are trying to get a wider audience. To start they will all be Dub’s, and to start they will be going for longer series (26 episodes or more), and there will be no presenters.
Future plans are interesting, other that the hope for Freeview, if it gets well it may go 24hr, with more kid friendly shows during the day. There was also talk of movies, sub’s slots, and titles from more companies (possibly getting a new Viz title, my guess would be something to do with Azure Wyrms ), and there was friendly banter between Hugh (ADV) and Andrew (Beez), as for some shorter series (Paranoia Agent being the one banded about as an example), may be coming but not for a while. Reason for the lack of short series is that the Japanese want to charge the same for a 12 episode as for a 26 episode series.

As before nothing has been officially announced yet about what series is being shown and I will update this as soon as more information becomes available.

BUMP!
Found a news article on Otaku News that AnimeCentral has the broadcast rights to the three Takara G1 series. The channel starts on September 10th on Sky epg no. 201. There you have it, confirmation that Transformers Headmasters, Masterforce and Vicotry are getting a UK TV broadcast run.

Cool.

Is it dubbed? Or does it have those words at the bottom, can't remember what they're called.

So, it will be on Sky? Know what number it'll be under?

EDIT:- oops, missed the number. 201.

So we can assume it's an entertainment channel then. Guess that's about right, couldn't really expect it to fall under Kids could we? :P

Indeed seeing that GitS and Cowboy Bebop are both 15s.

As for it being dubbed or subbed, I reckon that they will be subbed despite the rest of the shows that they're airing being dubbed(they plan to add subbed programming later) as the Star TV dubs are so laughably bad and at time confusing due to their inconsistant charachter names.

The channel should start testing in a week or two, I'll post the transponder code so you can tune it into the other channels or on a freeview box(none of chartshow.tvs current channels are encrypted so this should be as well) get a sneek peek and hopefully find out the times that they are airing at.

Couldn't they always just play the Headmasters from the Newest DVD set, turn the subtitles on, and play that on the channel?

Thats what probably will happen. I've seen other channels using a dvd source for broadcast, Rapture TV used it for their anime broadcasts they showed the dvd menu of Wolfs Rain for a few seconds before one of the episodes.

Lucky SOB's you get a anime channel. Can't see the Aussie cable companies setting one up, not enough appeal or audience and yet there is a damn Christian Channel on there. We just got the Sci-fi Channel here a few months back.

That aint that bad Trunks. At least the Aussie artists on there are real (write their songs, play own instruments, sell more CD's than Australian Idol contestants  wait even a choir of homeless bums(Choir of Hard Knocks, and some of them could really sing) sold more copies of their album than Aussie Idol people.

bump. The epg data for Anime Central is broadcasting on 11.343 V with fec 2/3 and mbaud 27.5 with name 52360. it should start video broadcasting for testing next week.

EDIT: Headmasters is being broadcast at 9PM and 12AM(midnight).

Any chance of frontpaging these times to let people who don't use the forums know about them?

Anime Central is now showing Headmasters for video testing.

I can confirm that they are showing the Star TV dub version complete with the Victory intro that all three series had for the Star dub.

What about the Australasian Cartoon Network? Absolute Bunk, IMO! Literally only 25 shows to play over 7 days.

Bump the final line up, epg and start date have now been confirmed.

Headmasters has been moved to 11:30pm on the line up and is being repeated every 3 hours until 5:30am.

The channel will start on Thursday 13th of September on epg 199. The frequency that I posted should work for anyone with a free to air satalite(e.g £39.99 lidl job) as the channel is expected to be fta.

But remember anime central are using the original Star dub broadcast masters, so they all have the Victory opening and are of a lower quality to the remasters that are on the dvds.
