Not a bad bit of nostalgia, even if I'm not a fan of the old Marvel artwork. Just thought this might be newsworthy:

Nice find.
I'll always have a soft spot for Don Perlin. The Marvel animation models finally started taking on a life of their own during Perlin's run. (He did the Return to Cybertron two-parter, and pretty much everything until the Man of Iron US reprint.)
That said, I'm not sure his attempt at the ultra-detailed joints was the best idea. Also, what's up with the colors (I realize those likely weren't his doing, but still...)?
I like the battle scene piece that appears downthread... makes me hope that if we do get an MP Grimlock, that goofy crown of his will be one of the extras.

The colours are truly godaweful, but the actual drawing itself is pretty damn good, especially for someone his age adapting his style.
Pity it wasn't inked and sent to a more talented colourist. The artist who coloured it later in the thread did a much better job. It would have made more sense for them to have him do it in his own style, I'm not a huge fan of the Optimus redesign with the big windows.
